Did the Romans base their civilization on the Etruscans?
No you fucking mong, read the Aeneaid.
The surviving Trojans sailed to italy, met the Latins, and the Alban Kings ruled for several hundred years until rome was founded.

Oh I guess the Trojan war never happened right?
Troy and Sparta were just mythical cities that never actually existed
Who is the worst leader in human history, and why is it Nero?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQIYeWHtyRM

We don't actually have reliable sources about Nero. The monks decided to make a horrible person out of him because he happened to have persecuted the christians. I don't caution that mind you, but to be fair he was prolly not even that bad a leader.
He also tended to favor the people over the senate, which did not help. Hell, he basically made every group of individuals that could be influential on his trace in history despise his person. Then we got stuff like "Nero intentionally caused the great fire in order to build the Domus Aurea" for instance.

He was a p alright poet, too.
What a horrible beard
Let's try to have actual religious discussion without it turning into debate, /his/.
I would like to know more about the Orthodox Church. How does it see itself, and justify its authority?
What does worship entail, and on what does it focus?
Historically, how was its identity as a unique religious body formed? What does it value in its identity and in what forms does it express this?
What does it look like as a minority religion as compared to areas in which it is a majority?
Thanks. I would like to know more about the Orthodox Church and how it functions as a religious body. I'm open to book reccomendations on the subject.

Like all Churches of the Orthodox faith, it follows the idea that the state must rule over it.

Care to elaborate?

You're just talking about Copts, Ethiopian Orthodox, Armenian Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox, etc. right? Not Eastern Orthodox?
I can tell you that they have a few different forms of liturgy. Copts and Ethiopian Orthodox follow the Alexandrian rite, Armenians have their own rite (the Armenian rite), which Syriac Orthodox and follow the West Syriac rite (there is a confusing situation with St. Thomas Christians in India, not all of them are Oriental Orthodox but they also follow the West Syriac rite).
You can probably look up what these liturgies look like on youtube.
Were the Hussites affiliated with the Kingdom of Bohemia or was the kingdom loyal to the emperor and thus their enemy?
anyone?
Here's the view of German tourist Mr. A.H., who visited in 1939 with many compatriots
"Of all the Slavs, the Czech is the most dangerous one, because he is diligent. He has discipline, is orderly, he is more Mongoloid than Slavic. He knows how to hide his plans..."
So be careful!

Serious question, were the Hussites part of the Kingdom of Bohemia or were they fighting against it?
Has anyone ever failed this hard before or since?

only scots can fail so hard.
although in all seriousness that incident is fairly typical of scotland, particularly the blaming of the english for the failures of the scottish, the bitterness and the scapegoating and judicial murder of innocents to appease the scottish public

Why did Jim Jones order the mass suicide? Did he finally snap, or did he realize that many more reporters would come to visit Jonestown and that eventually he would be arrested?
>>1225207
It's because he could, and he did it. He had the power to fuck people over and he did it.
Fuck Jim Jones, literally Anabaptist of Muenster tier of bullshit.
>>1225218
did you know Harvey Milk supported him, and literally wrote a letter to Jimmy Carter in 1977 trying to convince him that Jones was innocent? What a fucking idiot

Trotsky's fanboys like to present him as a benevolent figure opposite Stalin. To me he's just another ruthless communist. How much truth is there to that?
All authoritarians are worthless bastards.
But yeah, Trotsky was better than Stalin, and fought against him
Stalin was a ruthless opportunist, Trotsky was a ruthless communist.
But I don't think Trotsky has a lot of fanboys. Most communists regret that he did not seize the power when he could, but just because he was the only one with a real chance, and they would recognize that he was not as bad but not quite good.
And trotskyists do not see ruthlessness as a fault, and most would denounce benevolence as an idealist concept that is not appropriate for revolutionaries.
Also, who's Ruth ?

When did Slovakians become a people? What is their identity based on? What is Slovakian nationalism?
I ask because historically I don't see anything to draw upon. They don't seem to have been a people up until quite recently, and I fail to see what distinguishes them from say, Poles, Belorussians, Czechs, or Ukrainians. Why do they even exist?
Ethno-genesis general too I guess, since I can't imagine there are many Slovaks interested in telling me.
>>1222168
Slovakia is a meme culture
Slovakians are just moravians who ended up under hungarian rule after the magyar invasion a millenium ago
>>1222594
So which cultures aren't "memes"? What makes those genuine and the others a "meme"?
>Who is your vote for most unlikeable person in history?
I vote Pol Pot, the guys policies seemed to have no good will in them, his personal life is shrouded in alot of mystery so you dont really get a feel for him as a person. I would vote Stalin a close second.
>>1222005
Pol Pot, followed by Cromwell.
Pol Pot was nowhere near as crazy as people make him out. He just saw the lengths capitalist were willing to go to stop communism spreading in Vietnam.
