What's up with the sudden resurgence of calling stand-alone manga "doujins"? I've been seeing it popping up all over /h/ recently. Is it just one overactive poster or are we descending back into early 00s?

Remember, kids: doujin is either fanart or original art in an unprofessional publication. Professional hentai one-shots are not doujins. They're just hentai manga.

Back in the 00s most hentai was actually fan-art of popular non-porn franchises, so by extention most one-shot hentai was called doujin in the West. We quit doing that around 2005. I'm not some porn terminology purist or anything and fucked if I care if someone really wants to keep calling hentai manga "doujins" for wahtever reason, but I'm just confused as to why it would suddenly resurface in the year of our Lord 2005+10+1.5+0.5.
