Just posting a review for https://vndb.org/v21232 I did somewhere else.

It was pretty good. Art is better than the usual for Miel thanks to Akagi Rio, all girls get the same amount of scenes and most of the voices are good. There is an issue with repetition, after corruption some of the girls start sounding too similar, but honestly since this had only one writer I'm letting it slide. Games with more writers fall to this trap worse, sometimes.

It is still the usual Miel shtick though, just with better art/execution. For those not familiar with their games, they're mostly about a protagonist that is looked down as worthless by the women around him raping and training them as sex slaves. Despite the theme, their games are light hearted, and the girls go from angry and reluctant to devoted and nymphomaniac over the course one scene (they refer to it as sokuochi, "instant fall").
They're also infamous for their repetition of a few basic molds for most of their games, and this one is not an exception as stated above, it just feels fresher thanks to a change of artist.

Dialogue and scenarios are pretty silly and tongue in cheek so probably not everyone's cup of tea. Depends on whether you are amused or annoyed by stupid shit like all 5 girls being extremely naive about sex (in part due to their husbands all being conveniently impotent), or the over the top pledges of loyalty the girls start screaming to the MC after getting dicked.

There are some light netori elements, all heroines have husbands they leave for the MC but they don't show up often, only one actually appears in a h-scene, they are just brought up in dialogue for the most part.[spoiler] In the end there is a part where all heroines basically tell their respective husbands to fuck off because they'll be full time sex-slaves[/spoiler]

I like magical girl corruption/mindbreak and don't mind Miel's low production values, so I expected to like it somewhat, but turns out I liked it enough to write about it.

On a side note, is there any place for reviews like this for porn games? Sometimes I feel like being autistic about some game and /hgg/ isn't really the place for this kind of review.
There's a few jap sites for people to post reviews but the only thing I can think of in English is tossing a review in VNDB's disscussion board, which isn't ideal.

For the most part, yes and yes. In many cases, such as RPGMaker it's easy to use and requires little work on your part.

For "actual" games, such as those made in Unity as an example, you'll be boned unless you have OCR installed...and yeah, I have never been able to get that working properly despite many hours spent trying to get it to work on VNR.
The technical reason why other formats where developers have more control (such as Unity) takes some emxplaining. How VNR reads text is that all games have 'containers' for the text, debug info, stats etc (strings, etc if you know programming). Games like RPGMaker have specific places where those strings appear, and when new text is added, the old text is replaced. Other engines, such as Unity can have issues with this though, if they are using disposable identifying names rather than reusing the same container names. Hence where OCR, or Optical Character Recognition comes in. It was developed by Microsoft over a decade ago for business use. Instead of reading the text container, it instead looks at what's displayed on the screen, makes an educated guess as to what the characters are based on a database, and displays any text from your monitor or program. If only it wasn't sawing off my limbs to make VNR accept it with open arms, despite appearing to support it.

I'm certain there's a vastly better machine translator out there, or a much better program for OCR that might be able to integrate, but I haven't bothered to do a detailed look.

Two things I can't ever seem to find in H games, because I'm not versed on the catalogs

Isn't downloading .dll files kind of risky, since some asshat is going to stuff a virus in them. Especially considering .dll files aren't normally downloaded seperately.

Dynamic link libary (.dll) should come included with the package itself, downloading these seperately seems untrustworthy.

If someone did download these separately the be sure to use virus scans to check upon your computer. Best practice is to use multiple different virus scanners (I tend to run Malware-bytes, avast and Kapersky in tandem just to be sure).

Doing a little review of this game, since I'm just about done playing it:

You play as a student going on a mountain climbing school trip. Things happen which causes you to fall down a cliff and become separated from everyone else. Exploring the forest a bit, you come across a mansion, where you decide to go in to borrow their phone and call for help. The doors lock behind you, trapping you in the spooky house.

It's a pretty simple top-down walk-around game with some light puzzle-solving. It actually takes a bit to get your first raunchy scene, which isn't really what I'd call "worth it", but it's a good starter. Most of the ero content is relegated to the girl being molested to the point of orgasm, there is some fucking but it's pretty rare. There are no CG's or anything, though the character animations make up for that: they look hand-made and not something made with spline or live 2D.

The whole game has a real Five Days a Stranger aesthetic, it can honestly get pretty moody and spooky. I only came across one "jumpscare" but I wouldn't call this a horror game. You can't die for one, and there's no enemies, nothing chases you around the mansion, there's no danger.

There's like three music tracks in the game, and the one you'll be hearing the most will drive you insane by the end of it. It's a short game though, I stopped at four hours and I imagine it's not much longer than that.

It can get pretty obtuse. Nothing's too difficult to get past prior to the first two endings, but I have no idea how to get the game's last two medals to unlock the third ending.

If you like animated pixel art, I'd say it's worth a look. There's also not that much text and what is there, is pretty easy to read, and that's coming from an N5 scrub.

If you want to be sure, get a file list plus hashes for each game and go check it. And even then you've only verified that no one else's gonna screw you over except for the people behind the game - which doesn't factor in patches, translations, mods ... each single other party can try and screw you over. Not using some kind of protection would be retarded beyond measure.

A VM introduces more attack ground, but their vulnerabilities are usually a lot more specific in order to fuck the host system. Also there are viruses that actually become dormant if they detect to be run in a VM, so there's that.

Lastly, performance. I've had people telling me about PCI passthrough since 2015, but I never even got it running once (my hardware setup is a little bit complicated, though). Without passthrough, 3D games are basically out of question, even through 2D games might still run. Funnily enough, at least for me Windows likes to render shit inside the VM at 30 FPS, whereas Linux gives me full 60 FPS. Maybe there's just some option I'm missing, but I never bothered enough to check. Also, VMs save you a ton and a half of a hassle with your locale settings.

The hacks for the game DRM and copy protection will usually be detected as a trojan or rootkit by many antivirus. That's normal, since these hacks actually DO inject code into another program. But will make it difficult to say if there isn't something "more".
To set up a VM is a good choice.

Lots of security holes. No sane company would ever consider using WP for their products - and if they do it shows that they have no idea what they're doing. And that in turn doesn't bode well for their products. Plus it's completely unnecessary with CSS and HTML nowadays being what they are - and that also doesn't bode well for their products.

I've heard the same about Apple, and the quality of their software is on par with Abobe's or Oracle's in terms of security, and that's me ignoring the features that they have (for example no support for 32K sample MP3s in the system's decoder). Apple - not even once.

And the same rules apply to that Japanese company as well.

Just curious. On which side? The user(your browser) or the actual company. Wordpress is by far one of the most common LN "translation" mediums so if it's the user side that's kind of disconcerting.
