Post your component list, rate other anons', and ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Assemble your parts list; built-in price comparisons by vendor and a compatibility filter.

>To activate the Description, select build from sidebar then click on the title over the parts list
>Description contains notes, other options, and build skeleton for easy customization / cost savings
>Note: Win7 and 8.1 cannot be installed on a 200 series chipset

Have a budget, but don't know where to start? This will recommend you a parts list based on price.

>Subsitute a G4560 with 2400MHz RAM for any Pentium or i3; similar performance, up to 50% cost reduction.
>Consider using an i5 7500 in any RX470/480 or GTX 1060 tier build
>Consider stock fan+heatsink for any i3 or locked i5 build without a Z mobo
>Consider a B250 or mobo for any Pentium or i3 build
>Add a 240GB SSD to the "Very Good" tier build
>The only worthwhile gfx cards are the GTX1050, RX470, RX480, GTX1060 6GB for 1080p
>wait for Ryzen R5s

Why are Seasonic PSUs so good? I've used multiple Rosewills within the last 2 years, and theres nothing wrong with them other than the occasional black soot whenever i go to clean it. Smells weird too
>>
>>59595060
They aren't any better than their main competitor, Superflower.

The new Rosewills are made by a much more reputable manufacturer than the old ones were. As in they're no longer PC deathtraps.
>>
>>59595060
Superflower is better.
>>
>>59594894
I'm planning on upgrading later and, for me, performance wise, haswell is good enough and with /o/ endeavors and uni, I'm on a budget.
With ryzen 5 coming up, if I give it a month or so to iron kinks out, would a 4c/8t 1400 or 1500X compare with a 4th gen i7 since they're both around the same performance per core but costing less than $200?
It'll be paired with a GTX 1060, as I already have that, so I wouldn't imagine it bottlenecking much at 1080p.

Also, I'm coming from an fx-8320e since it was very cheap and performs pretty much the same as the phenom ii 965 (which was fine in of itself) it replaced and I only switched for temps and freebies I got that reimbursed the processor and then some.

So I'm looking to build a new PC from scratch on the first quarter of 2018
I assume Intel will launch CoffeeLake and its new socket for that time
But I have no idea for GPU's, wanted to buy a 1080Ti or I can assume that nvidia will be launching its 1100 series by that time?

as for nvidia, they will probably have their volta arch out by then, maybe not, not sure

Should I get a Vega to get by for a while until nvidia releases 1180 ti or should i just get the 1080ti and sell it next year?

Wait for Ryzen 5 or 3.
You cant run that CPU with that mobo without updating BIOS and you cant update BIOS on that mobo without a CPU installed.
RX 480 8GB is cheaper and at least as good and in some cases better than 1060 6GB.
Get a bigger SSD.
3000MHz ram is the same price as 2400MHz. And get RAM without heatsinks that sticks up above the PCB.

what would intel make under $200 that'd compete with a 4c/8t cpu?
I'd imagine on the higher end, intel would btfo amd, but what would they do within budget?
I do like extra threads as I do use multi-threaded applications often, so an i3 is right out and a low end i5 would be lacking in the multi-threaded department.
>>
>>59595809
invest $100 in an i5 by ditching the 1060 for an rx 470.

>>
>>59595888
>hat would intel make under $200 that'd compete with a 4c/8t cpu?
a cheaper 4c 8t with better IPC.

>>59595902
and no one claimed it was better, learn to read and stop trying to be so fucking defensive about it. sounds like you're some nvidia shill ffs.
>>
>>59595912
? I was not being defensive, I asked whether I should go for the Vega and wait for the next high TI to come out or go for the current TI. Then when you said wait for Vega specs I realised that it doesn't really matter 'cause its probably going to be only a couple of hundred dollars difference so may as well go for the 1080ti. That is all.

Also I doubt anyone really comes in here to advertise.
>>
>>59595912
If Intel made a 4c/8t cpu for under $200, it'd either make the consumer i5 and i7 moot at their price points, or drop their prices down on all other tiers significantly.
And knowing Intel and how they retain value and don't budge in prices, I doubt they'd do that.

I want to max out Overwatch on my 144hz monitor never dipping below 144hz to minimize input lag. Is a 1070 sufficient or do I need to go higher?

1070s cost ~$720NZD here, while the 1080 is ~$1079NZD (don't even ask about the 1080ti).

Is it worth the shelling out for the big bucks for the upgrade? I plan to buy a new card in a month once I've saved up enough.

Already sold my 970 for $250 btw. I'm going card-less for a bit so I can catch up on my Wii U/3DS backlog. But yeah don't really want to wait more than a month.

Consider the phanteks p400 if you don't mind mounting your radiator up front. You can fit a 120mm and a 240mm up front if you pop out the hard drive cage. Cable management is good, it's strikingly nice looking from the outside, it has a simple rgb controller built in, the base model at 60 bucks is a steal but consider the glass one I kind of regret cheaping out there.
Consider fast Samsung revision b based ram. Mine is stable at 3600 cl14!
Consider a cheap aio for your gpu. A 120mm blows any air cooled card I've had out the window. It keeps my 980ti stable at 1550mhz.

Is it worth it to upgrade the fans in my case? I feel like the two exhausts up top don't move much air and I kind of want rgb fans.

I need a new motherboard because every other restart the Ethernet might not work and that failing to work messes up a bunch of other services, doesn't happen often enough that this is an urgent buy, but I'd like an idea of what direction to take. Aware that RAM will probably have to be part and parcel of the motherboard change.
>>
>>59606300
Just buy a networking card.
>>
>>59606322
Where's the fun in that?
>>
>>59596192
Why not 1080?
>>
So I bought a second hand PC for cheap (4770k, gtx 1070...) and it works well but it gets absurdly hot and noisy, so I've decided to buy a NH-D15 to OC and keep the CPU cool, I've noticed the case fans are very loud aswell, so I'm thinking about replacing them with BeQuiet Silent Wings 2's.

It's been a while since I built anything, pic related is what I was thinking to do with the Silent Wings, buying 5 of them, any thoughts?? any better options at all? I'm getting the 5 fans for 67£ plus 7£ shipping, which isn't that bad I'd say since they retail for about 20£/$ usually... still the idea of spending 100£ just in case fans is revolting...
>>
>>59601513
No such thing as overkill :^)
>>
>>59606430
The case is a Corsair Obsidian 650D btw. I just want something REALLY silent. Will be using the NHD15 with it's LNAs aswell.
>>
>>59606430
At this point just watercool your shit
>>
>>59606478
Don't wanna spend that much money though lol, gonna start an apprenticeship so won't have much money.

>>59606497
All of this together won't go over 150£ though. And it will be very silent and one of the best cooling for my CPU that I can get from what I've researched (Closed loop CPU watercoolers seem more expensive and louder for marginally better performance). Custom loop watercooling for CPU and GPU would be way more expensive I guess (and not really needed for the 1070 since I have the MSI twin frozr one which is pretty overkill), and if I just watercooled the CPU I'd still need to change the fans for the tower since they're loud as fuck.

Any other thoughts?

Is there anything wrong with corsair PSUs? I'm having issues with my display randomly turning off while gaymin and the only way to fix it is to restart my PC. I ran a stress test for 45 minutes on my GPU and it went just fine so I don't think it's that. Anybody know what might be going on?

Fractal, Corsair, Phanteks, Bitfenix all have several clean cases.
>>

Generally no, but CX series you pictures is meh compared to all their other lineups.

Have you checked the cables for the monitor?

Try the PSU, GPU and monitor with other computers, try a different monitor, gpu and psu in your computer.

If my keyboard is Led-lit, can i still clean it by removing the keys and washing it/scrubbing and letting it dry? or will it shortcircuit and break.

shortcircuit means that electricity has to be flowing and jumps passed it's designed route.
if you unplug it and clean it then dry it properly it wont happen.

This is what I have so far, but I think it might be a bit too much since the total is $1177. Any suggestions on how I can make this cheaper without changing the CPU?

I probably won't need 16 GB of memory, and the 650W PSU was to give some room for breathing since the consumption estimate is around 436W, so there's that for possible changes. I'm all for suggestions though.

>>59614485
Air > AIO
Get 3000MHz RAM without huge heatsinks that sticks up above the PCB.
AMD Vega GPU release this summer should be faster than 1080 just so you know.
Ryzen R5 1600X is cheaper than i7, has better performance in multithreaded tasks and is almost equal in gaming with good RAM. At least wait until they release it next month to see if Intel lowers prices or not.
PSU is overkill, get their Gold rated G2 units.

>>59614522
Youtube is load. Try one RAM stick at a time in each slot, if it still happens run Memtest to rule out the RAM.
Run some CPU stresstest after that like Prime95.

literally the same, and AIO will cool way better.

good try retard.
>>
>>59614808
right on thanks anon.

also wiki says if you want quiet as a main build factor to get biggest fitting/best performing fans, a good case,

and a psu thats +a few hundred then what you actually need i understand the ratings tiers and what they mean but in terms of max output
is the part about psu's still true today?
>>

>but in terms of max output is the part about psu's still true today?
what?
>>
>>59614947
is it still a good reccomendatin to buy a psu with + a few hundred extra W then what you actually need so that it runs more quiet?
>>
>>59614546
Not an AMD fan, but have considered waiting; but then there's always something better to wait for next month/few months/next year, etc.

I'll bump up the RAM to 3000mHz and get a lower tier PSU; I was planning on giving overclocking a go, wasn't sure if I needed the extra efficiency then.
>>
>>59614969
>reccomendatin
No. Its recommendation you illiterate nigger shitskin retard. But responding to your question, get about 150-200W more than your estimated wattage
>>
>>59614889
Hyper 212 & Deepcool Gammaxxx 400 are solid budget-tier coolers.
Noctua NH-D14/15 are top-tier all-around coolers.
Cryorig R1 Ultimate/Universal is great too.
>>
>>59614969
no, that's not how it works. You buy more watts than you need so you have spare for upgrades and overclocking, and just to be sure you dont stress it too much when under load so you always stay within the load limit for best efficiency.

every non-shit PSU is way more quiet than all the CPU coolers and graphics cards out there.

Now I'm left wondering why AIO even exists.
>>
>>59614902
Yes, you need silent/efficient case fans. PWM is a must. Something that idles at a very low rpm. Also a case with good design is a good idea, so that you don't directly face the fans but have something in-between you and the fan so the noise gets blocked. Large meshes are terrible.

Getting a PSU that never has to go full throttle is a good idea, but PSU's don't contribute much to the overall noise of a system, so don't go overboard with it.

because it cools better than air coolers ever will and won't break your motherboard in half.

yeah they'll just wreck your whole fucking system when it springs a leak and you pay 200% more for 20% more cooling

The only AIO that can even compete with air is the Swiftech H220, even it gets beat up by NH-D15/Cryorig R1.

Swiftech H220 X2 $139,95 (save 13%, $20,04)
Noctua NH-D15 $89,95 (save 10%, $10)
Cryorig R1 Ultimate $89.99 ($5 off)

Fuck off shill.

I can't find a better thread to ask this question, and I apologize if the question is retarded;

speccy detects my gpu as 2gb radeon 7700, but can I run this seems to think I have 1.5 gb vram. Which one is more accurate? I mainly need to know because I want to see if I can run the Witcher 3. currently the game runs at about 20 fps (though I don't know exactly because rivatuner won't work) with 4gb ram, which is half the recommend amount, which will be fixed shortly.

You need to give more info about your card, what is it? 7730, 7750, 7770, 7790? Speccy is more reliable.

speccy simply says HD 7700 series

after messing around in device manger, radeon settings and speccy I cant find anything more specific.

I ordered a G4560 from NCIX Canada two weeks ago. No order update or any communication at all. Phoned them yesterday after noticing the 4560 isn't available on their site anymore and the guy on the phone said they've been discontinued (lol what) and they won't be getting any more in or be able to fill any of the orders. He swapped me to a G4600 to get it out asap but I had to pay the additional.

Never going to use NCIX again after this, what a joke.
