>tfw pajeets outed themselves as faggots
AMD is now officially AutisticMicroDick and we have to chose who we give our money to:
The flamboyant pajeet rolling in his rainbow poo, or the eternal Juden that is Intel.

Post your component list, rate other anons', and ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Assemble your parts list; built-in price comparisons by vendor and a compatibility filter.

Have a budget, but don't know where to start? This will recommend you a parts list based on price.

So I have a GTX970 right now and it's fine now.
However, I might soon upgrade to 4K since my current monitor has low dpi (1080p@27") and as I usually play at less than an arm's length most games look like crap.

My budget is around €300 which is around $250 in the US. I need 120+fps at 4K in CSGO and 60+fps at at least 1440p in other games like BeamNG.

Some of my options:
>Sell 970 and get used 980/980Ti
>Sell 970 and get new 1070
>Get another used 970

Rest of the pc is a [email protected], 24GB ram and a CX750M.

That 212X is going to cook your 7600K, especially in hot straya. The case is overpriced and not worth it imho and replace the NEX with a SeaSonic G or EVGA G2/3.
Your keyword is also overpriced meme trash and looks like rubber dome, there should be better options available, even where you live.
>monitor
What kind of monitor you emunigger, otherwise i will recommend you a 30 year old 15" CRT monitor.
>>
>>58691641
Budgets exist. 120 GB SSD isn't even worth it. What's the point on gaming on a fast computer, with only 3 games on it?
Also not a meme keyboard, you're poor. Some of us don't live in one story crack dens, we like being connected to wifis a mile away.

I still have an R9 280 (rebranded 7950). I can get 40-50 FPS on mid-high on most games still. Is it worth upgrading to a 1060/1070 or should I stick with what I have until the next round of cards come out?
>>
>>58691608
>no SSD
SSDs are a necessity. Get a cheap 120GB one at least.
>ASRock mobo
ASRock mobos are know to fail a lot.
>H110 mobo
You need a B150 for an i5-6500 to work at full speed.
>Not 3000MHz RAM
3000MHz+ RAM will give you a huge FPS boost.
>Single channel RAM
Always 2x4GB (or 2xAnything). Always.
>MicroATX mobo and full ATX tower
It's going to look retarded when you put it all together.
>Only b/g/n wifi
Enjoy your shit speeds on your poorfag wifi card.
>Overpriced keyboard
Get something cheaper that fits your need and put the money towards stuff in this build that actually matters, like the stuff listed above.

I'm waiting for the H7 to become available but I fear it will never happen

know any good replacements? I don't really go nuts overclocking CPU, I mainly fuck with the video card the most

>The case is overpriced and not worth it imho

I was actually starting to think I should just get a normal mid tower. Any suggestions?

>replace the NEX with a SeaSonic G or EVGA G2/3

I'll see what I can find. Fully and semi-modular PSUs are a pain in the dick to hunt for in Aus.

It will, but don't hope for reasonable OC with this, especially not during hot summer days.
Would be enough on Skylake though, but Kaby Lake runs hotter due to Intel being jews.

>know any good replacements? I don't really go nuts overclocking CPU
Anything from Noctua, Be Quiet Dark Rocks, Cryorig H/R series, etc. but if you don't plan on high OC you should be fine. Maybe consider 6500/7500 instead.

>a normal mid tower
Fractal Design Define, Be Quiet Silent Base, Nanoxia Deep Silence, Deepcool Tesseract, Thermaltake Versa, Cooler Master N.

Monitor is fine, we use the 1080p version at work, but no idea how it's for gaymen.

The NH-D14 is good, but see if you can get a NH-D15 or NH-U14S.
XFX TS is good, although not top tier. Seasonic G or EVGA G2/3 or Super Flower Leadex are not available?
Imho you should get a mechanical keyword, but that's subjective i guess. Your R4 case is ok, but the R5 is updated and better, see if you can get it.
Also think about adding 1-2 fans to the case. 2 intake 1 exhaust is usually the sweet spot.

run at 3840x2160

There are two main 4K resolution standards:
The DCI 4K resolution standard, which has a resolution of 4096 × 2160 pixels (256:135, approximately a 1.9:1 aspect ratio). This standard is widely respected by the film and video production industry.[5] The DCI 4K standard has twice the horizontal and vertical resolution of DCI 2K.
UHD-1, or ultra-high-definition television (UHDTV), is the 4K standard for television and computer monitors. UHD-1 is also called 2160p[6][7] since it has twice the horizontal and vertical resolution of 1080p.[6] It has a resolution of 3840 × 2160 (16:9, or approximately a 1.78:1 aspect ratio). UHD-1 is used in consumer television and other media, e.g. video games.

Only like 3-7fps increase if your GPU is garbage. If you have a good GPU then the benefit of faster RAM is that you can alt+tab more smoothly and have nice benchmarks but faster RAM doesn't really add more to a game or other programs.

You should learn about the shit you post rather then give other anons shit for your stupidity.

The RX will do better in DX12 gaming, so that's your future proof. But I would spring for a 8GB RX if I could. Although I'm not too sure how long it'll take for DX12 games to become more prevalent since there's only a handful of DX12 games I can think of, like BF1, Hitman and Forza.

>1x ram
get 2x4. I don't know much about DDR4 after that.

>mechanical drive

if you are on a budget, i understand this, but if you can, try to also get a 120 gb SSD for your OS to boot off of.

Or instead, get a large capacity SSD, remember, nowadays you can keep most of your PC games on the cloud and don't need to install anything you are not activly playing.

>RX 480
you could save money if you got a 470, or even a 1050 ti

>Wireless adapter
just connect with a lan connection. why do people do this? do you live with people that think wires are ugly? re-route it. Wi-Fi is for dumb normies and libraries.

case and PSU are fine and that is a nice keyboard but I would just cheap out on that and put that money toward a better case.

>>
Just posting here to say that the anon saying a hyper 212 isn't good enough for a 7600k is a retard. I overclocked my old Phenom 2 by 1ghz on the same 212 I use now. If you already have a 212, you should never buy another cooler so long as you can still use it, or you really want to get the maximum overclocked possible, which really isn't necessary for everyday use anyway.
>>
>>58693318

The one I have is brand new too. I got it as a secret Santa last year. Thought I may as well make use of it. Also no, I won't be pushing the CPU that much.
>>
>>58693318

I want to get a H110 instead of a 212 because I'm tired of having a giant metal thing in my computer but...that price difference. I can't do it, I'll feel like an asshole, especially since I don't OC.
>>
>>58693451
I think that's fine, but you should keep in mind that it's an aesthetic decision. That other anon is saying a 212 doesn't perform well, but it does. As long as you actually know why you're doing it, I think it's ok.
>>
Got all my stuff on a nearly 7 years old 2TB hdd from Western Digital.

Where does this meme come from, because Intel is neither owned nor managed by Jews?

It's pretty much mostly owned and managed by Americans, last time I've checked.

They have a factory in Israel, but they have factories in many other countries (most factories are in the USA, one in China, one in Ireland and one in Israel).

So it's far from being an Israeli or Jewish business, unless you mean that in a figurative way.

Windows 10 gets drivers automatically, but the BIOS can't be automatically updated, you'll need to download a program to swap the BIOS out or do it yourself. Usually BIOS updates don't do much except for maybe hardware compatibility (certain ram, Kaby lake on Z170, etc)

>>58696060
1. You can always use PCP to check compatibility.
2. Always provide a link to PCP, your budget and location so we can help.
3. i5-7500 needs a Union Point board (2xx series) to work out of the box, Sunrise Point boards (1xx series) require a BIOS update, some shops offer this service.
4. RAM is good, but yours is way to expensive, for standard 2133/2400 RAM get the cheapest dual channel kit of your choice.
5. The questions you ask show lack of any knowledge whatsoever. If you plan on building your own PC i suggest you start doing some research before you break your parts. Alternative buy a prebuilt, there's no shame in doing so.

I would change the PSU, for a few bucks you can use something fully modular with more wattage (maybe 600w to 750w), and you would never worry about the power on your upgrades
I say this because I see that you're going with a great CPU and a great MoBo, so I can infer that you want it for a long-lasting PC

Your motherboard has three fan headers. One for the CPU cooler, and two for case fans, so you're going to need some fan splitters.

You have two 140mm fans and three 120mm fans in that list, along with the two 120mm fans that come with the case.
Where are you planning for them to go?
>>
>>58699595
What upgrades would that be?
>>
>>58699496
The only time you want to go for a Z-chipset motherboard is if you're overclocking. And if you're overclocking, you'd need a K-series CPU.

Is the difference between a 24" monitor and a 27" just preference or are their advantages to a bigger monitor?
>>
>>58699447
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2HyCgL

I tried to improve on your list a little bit.

The CRYORIG H7 is going to give you better temps, and since you're overclocking that's going to matter.

I managed to cut $10 off your memory while still going with a reputable brand, keeping the same CAS latency, getting slightly better timings, and matching the color of the previous sticks.

Changing over to a PNY GPU saved some money, and they tend to have better build quality than EVGA on cards that aren't flagship. The larger cooler and two fans should also help with overclocking if you choose to go that route.

Since all of those fans are going to make a bit of noise, I took the advice of a previous anon and switched out the P400 case for the S variant to keep things quiet.

SeaSonic PSUs are generally considered the best, and since it's covered up anyway it shouldn't matter what it looks like. Plus it shaved $10 off the cost.

I found some fan splitters to ensure you're able to plug in all of your fans.
The front 3 fans can take advantage of one splitter for the first header, and to top/rear fans can be plugged into the second. Your CPU fan can still use the CPU fan header.
>>
>>58699613
>You have two 140mm fans and three 120mm fans in that list, along with the two 120mm fans that come with the case.
>Where are you planning for them to go?

>Your motherboard has three fan headers. One for the CPU cooler, and two for case fans, so you're going to need some fan splitters.

Hey /g/,

I'm looking to replace my current OEM 1TB Segate hard drive. Its coming close to 5 years old and its beginning to show its age (pic related was the most recent CrystalDiskInfo drive check). I've been looking at different HDDs such as Toshiba P300s or X300s (preferably the X300s due to their speed) for mixed storage of steam games and video recording/editing, but I'd prefer the price to stay closer to $100 or so. Along with drive lifetime, should I be interested in a drive warranty just in case it shits the bed when said warranty is still valid? Data recovery wouldn't be much of a concern, its mostly shit anyways, I'd be more concerned about replacing it.

In addition to the drive itself, I'm wondering what kind of cloning software I should use to transfer the data from my current 1TB drive to the new HDD. I have a Kingston 120GB SSD as my primary drive, so running an OS will still be possible without the 1TB drive.

Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I had a prebuilt PC from the 2011-2012 era sitting around that I never really touched. I always sort of planned to upgrade it but I never got around to it and now I'm out of touch with PC-building in general.

Should I just keep it aside as some sort of linuxbox and start from scratch or should I try to put money into it?

What has changed in the past 6 years? HDDs and SSDs are increasing in price, which is nice. And GPUs seemed to have come down in price and are competitive between AMD and nVidia. But I see we have upgraded to PCI-E 3.0 which I'm assuming means I have to throw a new MOBO into the mix too.

So what's the recommended build if you can drop about ~$800-1000 and like nVidia? I'm guessing I'd aim for a 1060 but I never really knew anything about CPUs. Is everyone running an i7 nowadays?

Who is the gold standard for GPUs? Is EVGA/MSI still top dog or did someone else take over?

Going to start now by saying that this cart is done based on the assumption that AMD Ryzen isn't feasible for one reason or another. Let's say I bought this today, how does this look? Also, I will be paying only 60% of the 'total' cart for a number of reasons.

Any suggestions/alternatives to the Synology NAS? I wouldn't mind building one myself for FreeNAS but would it be significantly cheaper? I've seen the HP Microservers, are these still viable as a long-term NAS system?

The main purpose of the Desktop itself is to function as a system for Lightroom/Photoshop and some gaming on the side. I wouldn't mind using a single system for working on and storing data... but I think it might be for the best to use a dedicated device to store data.

This is my first built and I'm using 100% Pure Canadian Maple Syrup currency. I plan on playing Civ VI, Stellaris, Planet Coaster, mostly other 4X games, and the upcoming Mass Effects.

I plan on buying a soundcard somewhere down to line for music related shenanigans (plugging my instruments, rudementary sampling, etc.).

Would like this built to last for at least 4 to 5 years, so I left some headroom for OC when I can afford to buy a cooling system. But I'm really wondering if it's worth the extra Caribou bucks, and if I should forget about Zmobos, k CPUs and OC all together.

>3000Mhz+ RAM will give you a huge FPS boost
Well, no. What could give you FPS boost is more RAM, but 16gb is a lot for gaming. above 1600Mhz CL9 you will have no performance boost in games, it is alreadly too fast for loading stuff. and games usually don't load more than 4gb to RAM. 8gb is fine 16gb is overkill, above 1600Mhz is placebo for gaming.

Unless you are trying for futureproofing (3-5 years) you are alreadly doing wrong by getting a skylake.

Isnt a 240gb Sandisk SSD (wich is alreadly faster than any HDD and loads stuff really really fast) for less than $70?

Long story short I was having bsods right after bios screen.

brought the rig back to the store, we tried every possible part combination. And it turned out to be the cpu. A brand new i7 6700k can look normal, boot normal but it can also fail after 5 days.

Going from 1600ddr3 to 3000mhz ddr4 averages like 4-5fps better across most games, and you can go up to 4266mhz ram, which provides even more benefit to that
And like you said, gaymen is a task that really doesn't benefit as much from fast ram, swap heavy programs like photoshop will get an even bigger increase in performance from fast ram
And I have a game that uses 9GB of ram, and audio programs that use the full 16 any time I want it to
