So I'm looking into using a 4k tv as my monitor for my pc I'm gonna build, are there any good ones that won't have input lag/that will actually run smoothly? Or would it be better to save for a 4k pc monitor instead of a tv?
>>
>>57805609
I remember you from last night.
Just get a monitor, tvs are notorious for having input lag when it comes to using them with computers
>>
>>57805621
Cool, thanks anon I'll start searching for monitors instead.

How to extract captions from youtube in .srt format?
>>

I used that too, I want to know how to do it manually

I am trying to figure out how http://downsub.com/ is converting it to .srt
>>
>>57805743
i'm guessing downsub is just parsing that html file that you saw

Got a new case recently and moved everything to it. After I did, only one ram slot works, and if I add a stick in another slot, it doesn't boot. I'm not sure what to do. I want to increase my current 8gb of memory to 16 and I am also looking to upgrade my 6950 to a 1060 soon so my options are looking like:
Buy 1060 > Buy single 16gb DIM > Buy new mobo
Buy new mobo (and stick with 8gb ram) > Buy 1060 > Buy an extra 2x4gb
or Buy 16gb single dim of ram > Buy 1060 > Buy new mobo.
I could also try and fix the mobo, but I don't really know how, seeing as though I already tried taking out the CMOS and putting it back in. Just in case btw, I have an MSI Z77A-G41.

All the components to my new rig are almost here so now I'm at the point where I need to think about my operating system.
I've been on Win7 forever now and figure that I should probably do Win10 for the new build.
I plan on torrenting it but I'm not completely convinced by the comments and talk around most of the ones I'm finding.
Should I not worry about the torrent comments and just download the top piratebay one? Should I get the clean version then an activator? I haven't had to install a new OS on a brand new machine in a long time so I'm second guessing all my decisions.

that value tells you the overall health of your memory cells, not the lifespan that can be shortened any time by random event
anyway: if you want to, you can calculate it. check how much LBAs your drive has, check what kind of cells are used (SLC, MLC, TLC, etc), multiply it and then, using the total LBAs written, calcucalte its wear off

>>57807649
i don't see the used up LBAs either but i see reserved blocks count. when it drops to 0 (or 1) it means that you have no more spare cells and your SSD will begin to degrade (at least most manufacturers make it show that)
parameter 173 tells you the max amount of erases on a single cell in your entire hard drive

notebook was fixed by someone else
bad DC jack, guy just soldered two cables instead of bothering waiting for jack from china

soldered cables got pulled out

I can re-attach, but I am not 100% sure which one is positive and which one is negative hole

I measure with multimeter voltage from adapter and identify the positive one.
But not sure how I can find out with high degree of certainty which hole belongs to positive

notebook is samsung np305v5a
hinges are fucked too, so its more of a survivor macgyver style rather than trying to professionally fix it

(Windows 10) My internet has been acting really weird these past few days. Like in the past 20 mins while I was trying to watch a YouTube video -- it just stopped working a couple of time. My internet didn't go down however, I think my Ethernet/connection is messing up. I'm interested in QHD displays. I found a Dell U2515H listed for $230. I'm a broke as fug college student, but I'm looking to "future-proof" my tech shit. Can't be any more than this amount.

I've been using a 40" 1080p TV as my monitor for the past year, but it's taking up too much space on my desk and I also feel less productive using it. I want a general use monitor; some casual gaymen (Dota, Civ, osu!, etc.), video watching and web browsing. I want to experience 1440p doing these things, but I don't think it's a huge deal for me. I'd settle for something 1080p as well. Atleast 24".

I know that one QNIX monitor would suit me well, but it's so fucking ugly. I want something aesthetically pleasing like the Dell's.

Question One
If I put in another 8G DDR3 12800s Low Volt memory that is not Samsung, will the two conflict each other? Should I just replace the 4G memory with the new 8G, or better yet get a dual 16G kit?

Question Two

Does that actually mean I can connect to both bands at the same time?

Are there actually any advantages to this?

I ask because, many laptops, phones support both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz, but they seem to only ever pick one or the other, not both signals.

Am I just wasting money? And should buy a 5Ghz network card only?

what are my options? The cheapest I've been able to find is ~110 for 500gb and ~200 for 1tb but I honestly don't care about how long the drive lasts; I just want cheap. Is there any chance I could find something cheaper than that?

Are there better places to look than newegg/ amazon / ebay? those three seem pretty comparable.

Is the 212x better or worse than the 212?
>>

Textures and models in FO are kinda ass so they don't take up a lot of vram

replace everything with 2k or better textures and you should get up closer to 4gb

That looks better than kdenlive, but it's not what I'm looking for. That's software for editing clips together into a project.
I want to edit tracks for movie and TV rips. Like, I have some movies for which the first audio track is a foreign language, or the audio and tracks are numbered but not labeled. I'd like to fix that without having to import the entire movie as a clip and render the whole thing from scratch.

It does say that, do you have any idea what this one in particular is called? I need the prong part with the power brick.

Yeah it supports up to 16G max memory

DVI-I can take a pin adapter
it's DVI-D that can't

D = digital only
I = both
A = analog only

notice the slot surrounded by four pins on the left of the dvi connector, if your card has holes for those, it (should) support VGA output

Are there any genuine Samsung batteries on Amazon?
My Galaxy S5 is averaging something like 2 hours of SoT so I want to replace the battery.
>>
>>57812748
new to systemd? it doesn't use the old names by default anymore
run "ip addr" and see what your card is called

(you can change it back to the old names, but read up on why they changed it first, there's a reason for it)

if it's an OEM key, yes

but if you have no OEM disc anyway, just download the VLK/corporate iso, it doesn't include activation

I'm running Jessie right now, thinking of going to stretch because I'm sick of having the old shit in the remotes. Is just upgrading fine, or reinstall?

How does rooting a phone work? I don't mean going on xda and follow steps written by pajeet. I mean for a a phone that has never been rooted before, what are the steps to root the device?

That's a UK plug, you could just get an adapter for that.

I've read somewhere in a magazine that the Skylake processor can match up to consumer grade GPU and they claim it's a step up from the i7-3770K in which it performs 30-50% faster. It still couldn't beat having a dedicated GPU though, since it's locked at 30fps for most new games.

>trying to find genuine batteries

I gave up for my S3 and just picked a third party one that seemed decent and close enough to (but still slightly under) the original specs, worked out well.

So googling for the 360 controller driver doesn't turn up anything? Nothing from Microsoft?
>>
>>57814653
Did already, gave me the option to manually install a driver for the 360 controller. I've gotten it to recognize it as a controller not and tried jiggling the wire to make sure it isn't just a hardware issue. It keeps coming in and out now when I move the cord so I guess it's just the wire that's fucked up.
>>
>>57814637
is that the whole processor per GPU or just core per GPU?

Sucks bro. If you have another one, you'll need to set it up in whatever program you're using. If you're emulating our playing most games, they usually have configurations built in.

Is an SSD still faster than a standard HDD even if both the SSD and HDD are hooked up to the motherboard via SATA III?

My PC has two hard drives:

SSD: 250GB Samsung 850 EVO via SATA III

HDD: 1TB Western Digital WD10EZEX @ 7200RPM via SATA III

Is there a way to test the read/write speeds of my drives?
>>
>>57815171
Being connected to SATA III basically removes any potential interface-based bottlenecking from both drives, but SSDs are still much faster than even the fastest HDDs (on average achieving around twice the data rate of a high end HDD or more).

At this time, SATA III is basically little more than future-proofing, as even SSDs typically aren't even able to max it out yet.

As for testing, just take a look around for hard drive benchmarking tools.
