It's entirely up to you and what feels better in your hands. Skill will make up for any deficit the equipment has, the more important part is being familiar with whatever controller you may use.

Try using VGA, just to see if your card is outputting anything at all.

Now for my question: is a 5400 rpm WD Blue (actually a repainted Green) enough if I'm just going to use it to store animay (and watch it of course)? I'm worried that it won't be fast enough, since some of the series I have average ~1.2 GB per chapter.

Did you plug in the video card correctly into the PCI slot? It should be flat and even.

Did you attach the power cables to the card? They should be on the top or pointed towards the front of the PC.

In Android device encryption, is it possible to have a different "key" on bootup and screen lock?

I have an old toshiba sattelite notebook (made circa 2005ish) with windows XP on it, hasn't been touched in years and doesn't boot up the OS anymore either. Sometimes it gets BSOD's but most of the time it's just stuck at the "windows couldn't be started" dialogue.

I did manage to get the XP setup CD running once but then as it was loading up i got another BSOD, this time an ACPI one though saying the BIOS isn't compliant with ACPI

Problem is that apparently you can't enter the BIOS thru normal means either on these oldass toshiba notebooks, and neither the XP setup CD nor DBAN are working anymore now, it's stuck in an infinite reboot loop

Wat do to salvage this piece of shit and get it working properly again

If it's in an infinite reboot loop, what happens when you unplug it and restart will? Does it go to BIOS? Have you tried unplugging the HDD before booting? Maybe pull out the BIOS battery too for a reset?

How legit are those "BUY WINDOWS KEYS 4 CHEAP" sites? I don't want to spend $100-200 on a Windows 10 key for a new PC, but I don't want to get scammed with a $20-40 key. a month ago I brought a pair of Daytons B652 Air and a lepai amp but I kinda miss the 5.1 from my past logitech system so I figured that I should buy a Pioneer VS-X530-K, so my questions are
¿Should I keep the Daytons as fronts or buy something more? My room is 4 mts x 4mts and I was mirin the Klipsch RP150M
In the case that I keep the Daytons as fronts ¿What could I use as rears? Another pair of Daytons? Miccas?
In the case that I get daytons as fronts and rears would there be a noticeable loss in quality if I were to mount them with this clamp?
https://www.amazon.com.mx/Pinpoint-Mounts-AM41B-Clamping-Bookshelf/dp/B00K8BI29W/ref=sr_1_40?ie=UTF8&qid=1480646584&sr=8-40&keywords=speaker+mount

my DAC's volume knob has made fuzzy noise when I adjust the dial for years, but now at certain levels I lose some power on the right channel. Is this just dust in the pot and can be fixed, or do I need a new one? It's just that shitty fiio e10.

Oh, that's far worse than how mine was. Mine would just become minorly imbalanced at arbitrary levels but usually a tiny shift in either direction would correct it.

Switched to M3 SMSL mostly because I wanted something that could take SPDIF input. Found it to be overall an improvement over the E10 though. Still a fairly entry level DAC though so if you really want to upgrade I'm sure there's better stuff out there.

>>
>>57797299
In that case you're probably going to have to do some real fuckery to get it to work. Back in the day something called ndiswrapper which is a software that lets you use windows wifi drivers on linux was popular. There may be a driver somewhere that you have to compile or add a repo for.
>>
>>57797318
In terms of part longevity a PC will probably have better cooling and last longer
A PC built today will be far more powerful than a PS4, its hard to predict how optimizations will end up though
>>
>>57797331
Hey this is roughly what performance you should expect as his cpu is pretty similar to yours. Sounds like a pre-built desktop. I would pick up something cheap like the gtx 1050 and you'll be able to play max settings 60 fps since your cpu is so strong.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_OQ0zMQsbk
>>
>>57797318
Unless there is a laundry list of exclusives you really want to play on PS4, get the PC. It will last at least as long as PS4Pro, perform much better, and depending on how much you spend, probably outlast its successor as well.

>Are PC games so badly optimised that you need to upgrade?
Some are, some get fixed, most aren't. Dishonored 2 is a big offender but a new PC made with 2016 parts won't have any problems.
>Do the components somehow decay quicker than on consoles?
No.

>>
>>57797318
Think of it like LTS releases and normal releases. LTS come every few years with big improvements (consoles) whereas normal releases come every 6 months (PC).

You don't need to upgrade frequently, but there is that possibility

Will I have to buy those two cables he's using to connect the SSD to the PSU and the motherboard?
>>
>>57797403
Most motherboards come with two SATA cables, and every PSU will come with enough cables to set up at least two SATA devices. If you have multiple drives including CD/DVD, you can buy a couple extra SATA data cables, but generally extra power cables aren't necessary.

If your PSU is non-modular, you can't attach more SATA devices than default and buying more sata power cables won't change that. These totals can be discovered by the seller listing, like on newegg.
>>
>>57797318
Any modern PC absolutely destroys a console. PS4 in particular is using generations-old technology that is effectively obsolete.

You do not have to upgrade parts regularly if you get quality parts and anticipate your needs.

Most AAA games are poorly optimized, yes. However, PC hardware, as stated, is typically so far ahead of console hardware that you can "brute force" it in a lot of cases. Also, most poorly-optimized games receive a lot of patching over time to remedy this.

Components don't really decay if properly maintained. as long as you don't overvolt/overheat shit, you should not be worried about anything "decaying" over time except maybe an SSD or power supply - neither of which decay any faster than their console counterparts

Probably not.

I'm suggesting the gtx 1050 for the specific reason that it will almost certainly fit and doesn't require any additional power cables, it just runs off the slot on your motherboard. It's main selling point is that it will go into pre-builts easily.

Post pictures of the tower if you wan't for confirmation. There is also pic related coming out soon which will fit in my ass.

Hope your enjoy the game anon :3

With a console, all the games will be made to run at low settings so you'll usually get 10 FPS or better. Some new PC games may not have lower settings. But there's 30 years of games it can already play and most of the new ones for the next decade will work. Some even have ultra low poly mods for poorfriends.

There isn't much reason to bother with non-Nintendo consoles anymore, unless it's what all your friends are playing.

What I do is split my PC games across two monitors when my bf cums over. It usually takes some work to set up.

To anyone familiar with foobar 2k I have a question. In win 10 the UI is defaulted to white. I would like it to be a darker color. I don't mean this part pic related. I would like it to be darker so at night when I open the program it doesn't rape my eyes with white light. I know there are skins available but most of them add a ton of shit I don't want. Also most of the places that have skins available for download have really old skins.

TL;DR
How to make foobar not white?

PS4 is about to get outdated to start with anon.

PCs can last between 4 to 6 years.
The only part that gets outdated with the time is the GPU, which can be replaced.

There are people that use the same parta for yeara because there is no need to upgrade because they are still good.

See I5-2500k for example.

Or C2D CPUs and I5-2520 and I5-2540m if we talk outside gaming.
I5-4690K soon will be another example.

You're so good to go it's not even funny. You could fit a full sized card in that the only concern would be power usage.
If you manage to open your case there is a long slot with a latch on one end and at the other end there is a little piece of metal that can be removed from your case. They're called PCI-E x16, pic related. The 1050ti and 1050 just slide right in. You plug your monitors into it, install drivers, and you're good to go.

What is the best laptop for graphic designers/illustrators? I'm looking for a price equivalent or under $800

I currently have a Dell(Dell Inspiron 17 i17RV-8273BLK 17.3-Inch Laptop -Black) with 4 gigs of ram and 500 gigs hard drive space that I bought in college but it's almost 4 years old now and it has a few unimportant pieces missing and a-lot of the programs I try to use run slowly on this. It's just unprofessional.

I've turned Graphic design and Illustration into my career now so I need an upgrade because this will not do anymore. I bought it for around $400 but now i'm willing to pay a bit more for something significantly better/more suited to my needs.

I really appreciate any replies this gets, thank you.

Also posted this over in the Windows General. I'm at my wit's end and hoping one of you can give me a hand.

I'm trying to activate Office 2010 Professional Plus on Windows 7 Ultimate. Windows is installed correctly and done up using Daz's loader and working fine as intended. The problem is with Office. I have done everything I can think of.

>Downloaded a Volume License of Professional Plus x64 and verified the md5 against that of the legit version - they match
>Read the ReadMe for the MSToolKit a hundred times, asked Google, posted on the MDL forums, etc.
>Rebooted several times
>Uninstalled and re-installed several times

I just cannot get MTK to activate Office 2010. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Tried Ez-Activate, and it flashes the window for a second and outputs nothing. Tried using Activate and get this bullshit error message which tells me nothing:

System.UnauthorizedAccessException
at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo)
at System.Management.ManagementObjectCollection.ManagementObjectEnumerator.MoveNext()
at ..(String , , String , String )
at ...ctor()
at ..(Object , DoWorkEventArgs )

Tried Installing AutoKMS. It says AutoKMS is installed, yet Office is still telling me it's not activated.

I'm going out of my fucking mind and beating my head against the wall trying to figure this out (nearly literally). I'm far from computer illiterate and I RTFM. I'm using the latest version of Microsoft Toolkit (2.6.2, downloaded from official MDL forums and verified via md5). My Office is a volume license and not retail, so I know that isn't the problem.

Can any of you guys help? I will literally fucking love you forever.

Are there any extensions in Firefox which stop images from being loaded until one clicks on the image placeholder?
uBlock sort of has this functionality - You can stop 'large images' from being loaded and set the limit to 0kb, but it is flawed in that it still sends requests for each image and then halts the downloading when it finds out their size.
http-useragent-cleaner does it too, but it is a bloated Russian behemoth, and that function is a small subset of a big bloated privacy extension which makes Firefox crawl to a near stop.

I only have Norwegian standards to go off here, but I assume you live in the US,a and therefore on a 110V grid.
The simple answer is;
If it works, it is safe.*

That means, if the outlet is on a 10Amp fuse or circuit breaker or whatever you call them, it will trip, and won't work. If it's on a 16Amp circuit it will work. (If youre in Europe on a 230V system both will be fine)

P(watt) devided by U(volt) = I(amps)
Is the formula to find how many amps youre drawing.
U times I = P aswell.

10Amps is generally the standard, at least here in Norway, maybe it's higher in America.

*It may not trip the circuit breaker when simply plugged in, but might when turned up all the way

Just get a used Mac Pro. Decent specs, repairable, nicely calibrated screen, and plenty of graphic design software for OS X. If you wanta Windows laptop I would recommend a used or previous generation flagship series over a midrange series since there will be better customer support and driver updates, plus a larger userbase if you need to google answers. Always get an SSD, the faster load times are worth it. Graphics software can be CPU-heavy so get a recent generation i5 or i7 (avoid low power ones like the 15W "U" series and fanless "M" or "Y" series.

So, I'm trying to learn how to properly overclock my GTX 980.

So far it seems to work fine for the most part, but twice now I've had the system lock up and had to reboot.

Would that be an indication that I need to push the core voltage up, or the core clock down?

I'm not sure if I fully understand the differences in pushing up the voltage versus pushing up the Hertz. I know that pushing up the Hertz means the chips are going to perform more cycles per second moving information around, and that pushing the wattage up is going to mean the GPU has more power at its disposal, but I'm not sure which one to tweak when I'm experiencing a crash. I guess that might be because I don't understand why the crash actually happens.

i am building a computer from scratch (not prefabricated computer parts but from transistors, capacitors, resistors, push buttons, a display, and a speaker) that will boast infinite ram and storage "space" - the clockrate will revolve around the actual response rate of the components (many billions of ons/offs per second) and the networking capabilities will be much more efficient (less cycles of a frequency for data transmission - in other words 10 bytes will yield unlimited bytes via a "special" process [lol!])
i hope to make it damn near impossible to remotely influence the machine -- except for accounting for human error and false "download" values/links. i also want to make the networking hardware tuneable (various frequencies) - hopefully this helps with alternative and open source internet/cellular networks.

quantum computers are soon to be obsolete (even though they never would work anyways, they are just random magnetic fields that will eventually transmit the right information only after enough time has passed and after many many incorrect electric impulses - it just proves the boltzman brain hypothesis) and i may end up becoming a very rich man!

the prototype/my version will not "store" memory- a password's values will be the "starting" values of the bootup/resume process (i will need to carry around a pen and paper to write down the password/hard-drive's contents displayed before poweroff, until i decide to add a certain type of diodes to "remember" last charge configuration of the bits)

for example: the table FactResellerSales gets the alias name s in this search querry
s.ProductKey means it picks ProductKey from the table s. (which is the alias name of FaceResellerSales)

it's a short and efficient way to write it down with an alias name instead of doing FactResellerSales.ProductKey

Traditional heat sinks are more cost effective, it just depends on what you're going for

Depends on the fine print and ToS. If it's "up to" 100/20, then you can go get fucked for all your ISP has to worry about.
If they actually guarantee to have that bandwidth available to you on their end, you should be able to pull 100/20 or above. Pic related is a 300/60 connection with guaranteed bandwidth. I get these speeds on a consistent basis, including torrenting, downloading shit from steam, and whatnot.

Naturally they'll never be able to guarantee full speed to every server in the world because of routing, slow servers, and other factors out of their control, but a speedtest should be able to show you very near the full potential of your connection, provided that your ISP guarantees that their infrastructure can keep up.
>>

It means you plugged your TV into the input that's labeled "tape" by default. It doesn't detect that your TV is a TV, only that it's sitting on input X.
Try reading the manual or poking through your amp's settings to figure out how to change its name.

>Have you dealt with these guys before?
Oh boy have I dealt with them. If it's YouSee, you should be getting, as a minimum, 100/20 on speedtest straight up.
I did have some speed troubles with them in the past, they were pretty professional and very quick to solve the issue.

If this is with the old NetGear CG3000 modem, especially if using wireless, call them up and just ask for a newer one right away. If you have one of those, that would be the most likely cause of your problem.
If you've got another one, then call them anyway and explain the issue. Be nice and professional about it and they'll be nice and professional back at you.

>>57804970

>>
>>57804939
>How do I find out what my hosting packages IP is?
You can ping your own domain and get the IP. But that alone won't help any if the server isn't configured to listen to the appropriate domain and serve the appropriate site for it, without this crucial bit it'll just lead to a default page for that IP.
You're using shared hosting, so refer to your host's support for further help.

Held og lykke med det.
For the sake of it, here's the story about my experience with YouSee's support.
I don't have any experience with that one personally. I was somewhat adamant about getting the CG3000 back when I first switched to YouSee, 'cause I needed 4 LAN ports. Was on a 100/20 line at the time too, there was some trouble with the signal at first, but I called them up and we got it fixed fairly quickly.
I think it turned out that the modem at the time was defective, so they sent me a new one of the same model. Worked fine.
Until I upgraded to my current 300/60 tier in December 2015. Which, I've gotta say, was a shockingly fast upgrade. I called them, asked for the upgrade starting my next billing period, and got upgraded right the fuck away with no additional charges. Like 30 seconds after I had finished the call, my connection went down for the first time since I got the "new" modem. Bit strange, but I got a pleasant surprise of speeds around 180-200/65 Mbps when it came back up not even one minute later.
After talking a bit about it with some friends, I thought "it's not quite as fast as I requested, maybe I should call them." Friends all said it just wasn't all set up yet on YouSee's end, and I was inclined to agree, but I did call them regardless.
Turned out, the CG3000 just couldn't handle 300/60, and I was "lucky to see 200 Mbps on it." So they offered to toss a new modem my way right away, I mentioned how I need those 4 LAN ports, they told me they'd figure something out.
So they did send me a new modem. Not the C6250 which was the current model at the time. No, they sent me the newest one they had, a big black SagemCom thing capable of 500 Mbps. Before they even started rolling it out in a "testing" phase, I was the first customer to get it.
It had some crippling firmware problems for a while, though, and during that time I became something of a known customer with their extended tech support. In the end it got fixed, and all is well now.

>Not the C6250 which was the current model at the time.
Wew that was exactly 2000 characters, but I feel I should add to this, that upon calling them about the SagemCom's issue (could not access management panel at all, as if its webserver wasn't running and nothing was listening on 192.168.0.1:80. Stability and speed-wise it was always perfectly fine), they put me on hold for a bit to talk to the guys in charge of firmware updates and suchlike.
They got back to me, explained that it was a known bug very much up for fixing asap, and offered me to either keep it or send me a C6250 which is, y'know, tried and tested but didn't have the 4 LAN ports I require. I opted to keep the SagemCom and called them up frequently to ask how the new firmware was coming along, though they also gave me the option to just ask for a C6250 and informed me that they'd agree to send one my way no questions asked.

I was a bit annoyed that they sent me a modem in what can best be described as an early alpha stage without asking me if it was okay first, but aside from that YouSee's tech support has been good to me. Easy to talk to, delivering on their promises, no horror stories here.
