I joined AB, and actually like anime so that was great. Found out about MPC-HC w/madvr and started using that. tehc first legit movie tracker and found that it had pretty much what I wanted though I used it for select films due to buffer and then motw to help out.

Later I joined AHD/PTP. One question I have is how do you guys decide which encode to grab? and what benefits would you gain from downloading a remux if it really is just like a blu ray source? Isn't it preferable to get an encode from a group that has improved it a bit?

I download a variety of releases but in my comparison I don't usually find too large a difference so how do you guys decide?

Most of the times you'll get the best quality from a remux. Some releases though have flaws that encoders try to fix, so you'll have to keep an eye for that too. If you have enough space, go ahead and grab remuxes but bear in mind my warning.

If disk space is an issue, you'll have to compare screenshots. If you don't want to bother, there are a few encoder groups that are a safe bet, such as ZQ.

Whatever you decide, keep in mind that most small differences that you'll notice comparing screenshots aren't very important when you're actually watching the movie, you'll hardly notice them then.

So I seem to be having issues with rutorrent + rtorrent. I want to throttle my connection so not all my bandwidth is used for seeding, but anytime I put in any value into rutorrent it just throttles all my uploads to a global 16kB/s, no matter what value I put in, it works fine with 0 i.e. limitless, but anything else and I get shit speeds.

I just looked at the site again, I believe you're referring to the Cutie dedicated 100Mbps 500GB plan. I can't attest for that, im sure it's fine. I had an EvO 4TB, 1gbps, 8GB ram with a dedicated IP VPS hosted on a NL server ($45/mo for 4 months) that was great for setting me up for life with buffers. Now I have a dedi that's $38 for 1TB that's also in NL, I use it as a VPS and I'm the only user on the server. It's not a slot on a random shared hard drive, it's a computer that's practically yours in the Netherlands you can use and access anywhere. I actually paid for a second IP that I use for, well u don't need to worry about that.

The speeds are consistently great. Having. A dedicated IP allows you to browse trackers via ssh which is nice. I might move to a smaller plan now that I only use it to upload shit and do everything else locally.


depending on your plan, you won't see the occasional 250MB/s up like feral has but you also won't see it grind to a halt.

There larger storage plans are a bargain.

Again anons, understand the difference between a shared and dedicated seedbox and a VPS first, also how the laws differ in the NL vs France and Germany.

If you're just trying to ratiocuck, a month plan on most seedbox/VPS's will do you fine - but being in and out in 30 days is easier said than done.

If you care about more shit like privacy, reliability and performance then do your hw.
