Can't unlock bootloader. Tried "fastboot oem unlock" but it fails. It seems I didn't enable OEM unlock before it became bricked.

No my issue is that I have vertical white lines all over my display and the screen randomly goes black. I didn't even drop the phone so I have no idea how it happened. What could possibly cause my smartphone battery's charging rate to suddenly plummet? Pic fucking related.

The charging port's a bit loose, but the phone wasn't moved during charging at all. It is always cool to the touch during charging, except when I am playing a game during.

The phone (CM13 nightly, 2500mAh battery) has gone through about a year of medium to heavy use. It takes anywhere from 2.5 to 12+ (!) hours to go from nearly dead to fully charged. Anyone else experiencing such wildly varying charge times?

hard to say, it could be anything. Most likely heating and cooling the components over an extended time have created microfractures. So based on whether the battery is expanding or contracting certain fractures will temporarily get pushed together and make contact, leading to faster charging.

That's just a guess, tho.

internal fuckery of battery doesn't always go paired with excessive bloating. I'd say that the fact you said it wildly varied, from 2 to 12 hours to load, alone proves to me that something is wrong with the battery. You could have gotten unlucking in the battery lottery.

That being said, it could just be that it loads super fast up to 50% charged and the trajectory between 80% to 100% is super slow. Looking at your picture, this might be the case. All batteries always charge the last "top" bit slower than the "middle" bit, but usually your software knows this and compensates for it. It's because the most basic way to measure battery load is to measure voltage, and the voltage first drops really slowly, and suddenly starts plummetting at the 50% charge mark, then slows down and asymptotically reaches 0volt at 0% charge.

It would be more useful to have some kind of app/test on all the time and see how long it takes in terms of hours to discharge, and if it keeps getting worse over the course of weeks, then it's 100% a case of bad battery.

I have a question about Copperhead OS for anyone that knows about such things. I would like to install it on my device, but my device is an HTC One M8 (from Sprint, if that is relevant), which is not an officially supported device. I was wondering if it would be possible to follow some of the steps here https://copperhead.co/android/docs/building and just try putting in some of the device-specific code from Cyanogenmod as documented here https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_m8#Prepare_the_device-specific_code . I have some knowledge of how to compile things and stuff like that, but I would not be able to do this if it requires extreme knowledge of this stuff. Australia

Budget: 200AUD (would prefer 150-ish but can go up to 200)

Carrier: Telstra (thinking of changing to ALDI plan but they are supplied by telstra so i dont think that makes a difference)

Extras: just want a decent camera and something that will have a nice enough screen and specs to watch porn and shit in VR on one of those cheap VR headsets.

I looked at the chink phone guide and saw the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro recommended, i can get it for $203 AUD including postage for the 2GB/16GB version, is that basically my best choice or is there anything else i should consider?

Also my current and only smart phone i have had is the nokia lumia 530 windows phone, which for the last year and a bit i have been quite happy with (especially because i got it 80% off for $19 AUD). So that means i dont know shit about how to use android phones will that make it too hard to use a chink phone where i have to do a whole bunch of shit just get rid of bloatware and get everything into english or should i be fine (im quite good with all other hardware and software stuff)

Well uh I charge them, text and youtube and maps mostly. Never done mobile gaming before this.

5s has too small battery power + older hardware running harder to handle game = hot and dead.

Droid Turbo I have no idea other than the high quality screen + constant awake = high temps and then battery drain.

Screen drain % was about 1/4 of the pokemon go drain %.

Check willmyphonework.com to make sure ALDI works with whatever phone, dunno what their band support is.
The main drawback with Xiaomi phones is that they don't support band28 (700MHZ) the band Telstra and a few (don't quote me, check) other big carriers use for the fast 4G speeds, since they combine that band and another to get better speeds.
I can't quote what speeds it'll give u even with Telstra, but maybe Whirlpool can.
