The progress on this in the last year or so has been incredible to say the least. From blurry blobs of color to sharp and almost real images.
I bet google will soon implement a web interface to this, so you can describe the image you want. It's pretty cool.

Here's the deal /g/, I know Html, CSS, JS, and enough PHP and SQL to be dangerous.

Those are all pretty much meme worthy and nothing to brag about.

Can this be our next meme distro? Can we stop telling new people to install arch and posting about arch in every thread?
65 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
But why?
Unlike arch, this is just a normal distro, that more or less just works.
also, the userbase is mostly just normal, old dudes.
where's the fun in that?
No one will waste time on it, or feel elitist about it.

Obviously the next meme distro should be Alpine Linux.

>not running Linux free of cancerous GNU bullshit

I stumbled on this article a couple days ago
https://theinvisiblethings.blogspot.com/2011/04/linux-security-circus-on-gui-isolation.html

I've been using linux for about 7 years now and I've seen no mention that entering your password in a sudo prompt in a terminal emulator is bad practice. (Although I started in Ubuntu, so they might just be cucks)
From what I'm seeing, it would be easy for anyone that has access at my user level to quickly get root access and install rootkits and shit.

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about this

IRC: #/tpg/ on irc.rizon.net

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™

Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Kind of pissed. Fell for the ThinkPad meme and got a P50s.

Love the device and it performs great, but it's been just over a month and the fucking screen bezel is already coming off, so I have to get a replacement. Will Jewnovo ship me a new one before I have to send mine back? Otherwise I might just request a refund and buy something else.

Ideally I'd like to know how I can just fix this myself with some sort of safe glue?

Pic related, but obviously not my device.

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:

0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux

Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

How do you deal with old kernels in *buntu? I've been using kubuntu for a few weeks and I already have 3 kernels installed, I thought that it kept current and last previous version and removed the rest but it seems they are kept unless removed explicitly. Am I missing something? I don't want a million kernel versions in /boot.

How do you change the default terminal in Arch?

I want urxvt to open when I choose "open a terminal here" in Thunar.
Thunar custom action is
exo-open --working-directory %f --launch TerminalEmulator
but TerminalEmulator is not an environment variable. I tried replacing "TerminalEmulator" by "urxvt" without success.
>>
>>55133835
have you tried the window class of urxvt? Isn't it something like URxvt?
