Picking up with Amazing-Spider-Man #679!
Heading home now. See you guys soon! SPRING BREAK STARTS NOW!!!!I won't get to enjoy it. I'm stuck grading
Not going to lie, I'm honestly pretty underwhelmed by these stories. They were so much better the first go around. Now they just seem boring. I hope Superior is as wild of a ride as I remember.
>>90400653
Really? I love all of the stuff up to #700/Dying Wish.
So lemme get this straight:
Peter just forgot this adventure happened during Civil War II?
>>90400816
Maybe I should give it another critical look then.
I'm still reading through the previous thread. It's blatantly clear that Otto is Slott's precious baby.
Had to track down this issue. 679.1 coming atcha!
>>90400931
NO LOGIC IN THIS THREAD!!!!!
>>90399448
I really enjoy Del Mundo's Spider-Man, he's drawn with such an interesting combination of weight and wiriness.
>>90401195
Does he do interiors or only covers?
>>90401262
Recently he did interiors for an issue of Gillen's X-Men, covers for nearly all of X-Men Legacy vol. 2, interiors for Elektra, and is now doing interiors for Waid's Avengers run. I'm seeing hate for his Avengers stuff but I'd much rather the frontline books look weird and unique than they all be boring as hell like pre-NOW was.
>>90400816
Do you eat shit for lunch too?
Max should straight up fuck off. WIthout Peter jumping in to save him. Max would have been nothing more than a appetizer for Michael..
>>90401427
That's pretty awesome
Awesome
Slott's next series of stories seem to flow together so I'm going to go ahead and take care of some more Avenging Spider-Man (should be last major series before I switch exclusively to Slott).
>>90401715
>Kathryn Immonen
Oh shit, a GOOD writer for once?
>>90401823
You a fan of the Wells' issues?
For some reason Kathryn Immonen writes She-Hulk like a raging bitch this issue.
Welp. I have a new fetish.
Peter, you're too good for this world.
I am so glad that I decided to storytime Avening instead of Amazing. Partially because I think it's a better written series. Also because in about two issues we were going to arrive at the "Ends of the Earth" and we all know how that turned out.
>>90401861
Wells is just generic as fuck. Just another Gage.
>>90401882
Yeah, she's a bit hit and miss, but when she hits...
>>90402830
>Next: Captain Marvel!
If this were Mar-Vell, I'd be happy. If this were Monica, I'd be happy. If this were Genis, I'd be happy. If this were Phyla, I'd be happy. But it's fucking Carol.
>>90403173
This is when Carol was still a likeable character. Give it a chance =D
>>90402421
I wouldn't call Shed a generic as fuck story. I thought it was fantastic.
>>90403295
>KSD
Nooooooope.
>>90403364
She wrote the Osborn mini. I can't completely dislike her.
>>90403410
Did you read Pretty Deadly? Same creative team.
>>90403486
I actually haven't. What's the premise?
>>90403511
Because I'm lazy
>A blind man, Fox, and a little girl, Sissy, go from town to town, telling the Ballad of Deathface Ginny, the Daughter of Death. But when Sissy steals a binder from a man and Fox burns it, it unleashes Deathface Ginny herself. And she won't go away until she enacts her revenge.
It's kind of like a western mixed with urban fantasy/magical realism.
>>90403655
I don't trust premises I read online. They often times try as hard as they can to make it sound appealing when it ends up being dull as dirt. I always like hearing the thoughts of people that actively read the comic.
>It's kind of like a western mixed with urban fantasy/magical realism.
Now that's what I'm talking about
>Artist: Steve Dillon
=(
Frank
Frank
Aunt Frank
I'm not sure if anybody watches this guy, but I find that he manages to offer a careful critique of comics without coming across as pretentious which is a feat in an of itself. His Steve Dillon video I thought was particularly well done.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM_ENeIwwRI
So much Frank.
Did Dillon slowly unlearn how to draw faces? I went and took at look at Preacher and he was capable.
How's the Spider-Man and Deadpool Joe Kelly series? I remember loving hid AMazing Spider-Man issues but I haven't ready anything from him recently. Once Slott took over I didn't see any more Kelly issues.....WHICH IS A GODDAMN TRAGEDY!
>American Son
>Rhino: Gauntlet
>Grim Hunt
I wish I had a friend like Deadpool when I was in school.
>>90399471
>I'm stuck grading
an actual professor?
>>90402303
what a shame there's no tail hole
I've never seen this character before now and I want to see more.
>>90401928
>Kitty Cats
holy fucking kek
I know I called this Slott threads and posted little Slott, but I'm getting these issues out of the way so when I get to the main Slott story, I can continue straight on and not have a massive break where I would post all of avenging, venom, and others.
Also if I followed this thread up immediately with a Pt. 9 would peeps read until it's done or should I just wait for tomorrow?
Kuder draws a terrifying Goblin. Also his entire Rogues Gallery looks pretty sick. I now really really want Kuder on an ongoing Spider-Man. If I could choose anyone in the world to write it, my three choices would be:
1. Mark Millar
>I thought his Marvel Knights Spider-Man was great. It was a tight 12 issue series that managed to pay tribute to a large amount of his rogues gallery while still highlighting the relationship between Peter and Norman. The last page on issue 12 has me dying every time I read it.
2. Joe Kelley
>Amazing Spider-Man #617 & 625 had me in tears by the end of it.
3. Landry Q. Walker
>This choice was extremely difficult because I wasn't really satisfied with many other of the big names. THen I remembered a series I had read recently called Danger Club and I thought that had a pretty nice mix of humor, action, and drama, with a pretty firm handling on a wide cast of characters, all of which would be essential for a Spider-Man comic (his supporting cast is one of his greatest attributes).
>>90404991
Yep. This isn't just a title. I'm currently teaching three courses this semester.
1. Cognitive Psychology
>This one is just going through the motions.
2. Social Psychology
>I'm having to refresh myself because I was depressed when I taught this last I don't remember much of the material.
3. Behavioral Statistics.
>Weirdly one of my stronger classes.
>>90404598
He's great desu
>>90404671
He said he was well aware of the meme and doing it on purpose
>>90404767
Very good, he even partly acknowledged the big Spider-related elephant in the room
>>90405734
>He said he was well aware of the meme and doing it on purpose
That is god damn glorious
>>90401475
I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast. What do you like? So I can shit on that too.
>>90400447
Talk about wasting everyone's time, Slott.
>>90405877
>unironically doing the Internet tough guy routine
>>90406107
>completely oblivious to obvious joke.
>>90401294
> panel of the Lizard slapped on with no attempt to make it cohesive
Alright, we get it, the movie's coming out.
>>90406299
Ugggg it wasn't even a good movie. It was average at best. FOr some odd reason I fun the second one stupid fun though so I might just have terrible taste.
And thus concludes all of the Avenging Spider-Man issues pertaining to Peter Parker, which opens us up to Yost knocking it out of the park with his Spock characterization.
>>90406398
I now have to go back and watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I remember downloading the leaked version from Youtube and I remember enjoying it. Maybe I'm wearing super nostalgia goggles. I maintain that the first two Raimi movies stand up today. Both Dafoe and Molina turn in expert performances in a movie directed by one of the greats. I don't think I've seen any director manage to recreate the speactacle of web slinging in the way Raimi did.
And thus concludes the eighth consecutive Slott thread! I hope you all have enjoyed. Tomorrow we begin the marathon of Slotl which I'm pretty sure should run straight into Superior Spider-Man.
>>90402121
I had no idea the "Catgirl She-Hulk" story was so recent. I'm liking Avenging more and more by the issue.
>>90406222
>Moon Boy
Good night, sweet prince.
>>90406536
Amazing Spider-man 2 wasn't that great.
>>90406786
I'm rewatching right now and you are absolutely right. It ruined the Green Goblin and now I don't think I'm going to get to see him in the upcoming Spidey films.
Where is everyone tonight?
>>90404751
The fact that this was an Uncle Ben issue drawn by Dillon makes it a double whammy.
>>90407377
=O
Dillon will be sorely missed.
>>90406563
This was easily one of the best Avenging stories, and I'm honestly not sure how Bunn got away with making it as violent as he did.
>>90408056
Probably because no one was reading it at the time. I bet it just slipped under the radar
