Decided with Batman Returns. This thing is a straight up work of art. Burton really got to make this thing his own.
I really like the first opening issue. I feel it sets a tone for the rest of what's coming.
Anyone here? Need to make sure peeps are reading before I continue.
>>87638331
Yeah i'm here
>>87638339
Cool beans
Now that we know more/less what each volume contains, which one was your favorite?
1st
>Batman and Son, Batman R.I.P., Final Crisis
2nd
>Batman and Robin, Time and the Batman, Return of Bruce Wayne
3rd
>Batman Incorporated Deluxe Edition; Volumes 1, 2
Also is it weird that I'm finding All-Star Batman to be one the best current Batman ongoing?
>>87638392
>DickBats
>BatSteph
>old Red Robin
:(
>>87638430
Well these storytimes have been my first time reading them but so far I enjoyed the final crisis stuff more than I thought I would considering I usually hate big events and while I enjoyed the adventures of Dick and Damien I really liked the whole Return of Bruce Wayne story arcthe most.
So I guess volume 2 was by far the best unless this one ends up being really good
>>87638472
Don't fucking remind me. New52 Batman is a step into a completely different direction that Morrison was going. I'm actually going to do Snyder's Batman run after I finish this to see how they compliment each other.
>>87638430
Volume 2 for sure, B&R was da best
>>87638532
>I want you both to stay together as Batman and Robin
Fuck you, DC.
>>87638594
LORD DEATH MAN WOO
>>87638594
>lord death man
the man part seems unnecessary
>>87638613
Lord Death is generic
Lord Death MAN is a BRAND
>>87638638
good ol' Paquette
>>87638502
This one may end up being really good. All of the volumes have their own distinct tone/theme that makes them entirely their own.
>>87638809
Lord Death Man had panache, I'll give him that. gone too soon.
>>87638902
Man, you gotta love a guy trying to set a brand up.
>>87638927
>trying to set a brand up.
>Implying he's not already killing it
>>87638953
He's doing a great job. The trick now will be consistency within the theme and brand. I like the idea of the chain of killings linking to your next victim, but you're going to need to find some way to be subtle about the themes while still having variety with it, which has me nervous about this up and coming super villain and whether he's going to be an also-ran.
Gotta give him props for the bomb on the disabled kids bus though, you do that properly and you score some major cred.
>>87638999
>Those trips
Also, why do I feel like Selina did that intentionally? Because there's no way she didn't do any research on her target jewels like that.
>>87639070
I feel like primary sources about Atlantean jewelry would be scarce
Honest Question, how do ALL the Batman movies rank in your eyes?
>Batgod Tier
Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders
The Dark Knight Returns
The Dark Knight
Batman v. Superman ULtimate Edition (I think this movie fixed all my major complaints with the theatrical version).
>High Tier
Under the Red Hood
Batman 1989
Batman Forever (rewatched and I loved it).
Batman Begins (absoutely stellar origin tale for Batman).
>Mid Tier
Batman: Assualt on Arkham (great movie, Good Batman movie).
Batman Returns (could be higher but it depends on my mood. Surprisingly this is my sisters favorite movie.)
Batman v. Robin/Batman Bad Blood (these are enjoyable for what they are).
>Low Tier
The Killing Joke
Batman & Son
The Dark Knight Rises (poor pacing and cliched writing hurts this movie).
>Hard to Place Tier
Gotham Knight (some parts were great, others were meh).
Batman and Robin (it's a poor movie, but a great modern take of the 1966 Batman TV show).
Batman Year One (varies based on whether it's judged as a Batman story, Jim Gordon story, or as an adaption of the comic. All that said I really enjoy Year One).
Batman: The Movie (Adam West)
If I left one out let me know.
>>87639143
best foreign Bat incoming
>>87639143
You forgot the best one! Mask Of The Phantasm!
The Dark Knight Returns adaptation loses points from me because they cut out Bruce's internal monologue.
>>87638196
Was there a link to all this posted somewhere yet?
>>87639181
SHIT I knew I forgot one. New List.

I am so fucking sorry. I completely spaced on that and you can be agitated with me. That will be my project for tomorrow.
The idea of "batman incorporated" always seemed dumb to me. If you want to train and organize other heroes that's fine, but let them have their own identities, don't make them all batman.
Dammit I forgot one of my favorite Bat-Movies. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker

Aww look at the lovebirds
>>87638457
Not really. I prefer King's, but none of them are great imo.
>>87638505
>to see how they compliment each other.
Spoiler alert: they don't
Morrison's run was a love letter to all of Batman's history and development.
Snyder went in the opposite direction and completely rewrote history, removed Batman's characterisation, and went out of his way to leave his mark. I know it's partly the nu52 to blame, but I didn't get on with it at all.
Easily one of the best pages I've ever seen. Two Batman, a Robin and James Gordon all working towards the same goal. Also I know that Morrison didn't plan for this, but this is a great bit of foreshadowing for what's to eventually come in Snyder's Run.
The sheer genius of it.
>>87639659
>>87639665
>"Fire up the Bat-Proxy, old chum! It's time for some guano-posting!"
I stole that from another thread.
>>87639621
Meant to say contrast each other lol. I know that Snyder's take and Morrison's take are night and day.I have all of the graphic novels from the Court of Owls all the way to Bloom.
Also I'm willing to do what a previous anon started and failed and storytime the complete Frank Miller Bat Man Saga. I can start with Year One, continued with All-Star Batman and Robin, then the Spawn tie in, then Last Crusade, and then the Dark Knight Saga.
And if someone knows the complete run of Paul Dini on Batman I could start collecting that.
>>87638430
2nd; purely on the strength of Batman and Robin.
I'd say the 2nd Volume is my favorite. Which is kinda becoming the "defacto" volume.
Definitely one of the weirder entries in the Batman Incorporated Line.
>>87639380
They're not all Batman, though. Some of them are, some of them aren't.
>>87640003
Man this is dangerously cheesy.
Coming is one of the best One Shots I've ever seen. The special itself is Batman Incorporated: Leviathan Strikes
>>87639179
That guy getting punched in the face by a motorcycle has to be dead now.
I feel like this Morrison's take on the Batman 66 TV show.
>>87640134
LEWD
Tripping while looking at these pages is legit.
The paneling here is a work of art itself.
You glorious bastard.
I feel for Damien right now. He was just doing what he thought was the right thing.
Oh shit
Don't really know how I feel about Talia being the big bad.
>>87640252
>red phone in a glass case
Morrison!
And thus concludes this thread. I hope those who are still up had a fun ride and those who come tomorrow get to experience this with a whole new set of posters. Also I've decided to do both Snyder's and Miller's Batman after wrapping this up. Which would you prefer come first?
>>87638430

this one

>>87640314
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice threads tends to generate some very polarizing discussions with equal points in both camps. And I also realized I forgot another movie, Suicide Squad.
>Batgod Tier
Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders
The Dark Knight Returns
The Dark Knight
Batman v. Superman ULtimate Edition (I think this movie fixed all my major complaints with the theatrical version).
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

Batman: Assault on Arkham (great movie, Good Batman movie).
Batman Returns
Batman v. Robin/Batman Bad Blood (inoffensive)
>Low Tier
The Killing Joke (Wasted Potential)

The Dark Knight Rises (cliched writing and poor pacing).
>Hard to Place Tier
Gotham Knight.
Suicide Squad (Movie is middle of the road. Batman's portrayal is fucking ace. Bet the extended edition bumps this up to high tier).
Also ranking Arkham Stories.
1. Arkham Origins (definitely not everyone's go to choice but I loved every moment of this).

3. Arkham Knight (a game sequel that gets a lot of things right and a lot of things wrong).

OP where are the links? it's been days
>>87638885

For fuck's sake.
Is there any chance of a storytime of Whatever Happened To The Cape Crusader? I know it's not Morrison but it's pretty much a follow up of Final Crisis/Batman R.I.P, and it's only two issues.
>>87640082
Okay, this page creeped me out.
>>87639884
i absolutely loved this issue and how it showed a new way to frame Oracle's involvement in Batman Inc. we could have gotten a series of Oracle fighting cybercrime this way, similar to Non-Player (has that comic concluded yet?). there were so many concepts to follow through and DC basically went another route.
