And thus starts Morrison's Bat Epic. I'm using the MiracleScans so there's a few things missing but all in all it's a fantastic collection of stories. First volume is around 700 pages so I might have to stretch this out for a couple days at least.
Would really really appreciate bumps in this thread. It's by far the most ambitious project I've undertaken. Lotta dedication going into this.
One of the very best runs of all time, thanks OP looking forward to it.
Right when I thought Batman was gonna carry him to a hospital/ambulance, he subverts expectations and tosses that shit in the garbage
>>87546790
Glad you're enjoying. Hopefully people that visited /co/ after Morrison was already out will get to see this. It's nice to see a completley different interpretation of Bruce compared to how he's portrayed in Snyder/King's run. This is Bruce with more than a decade of experience under his belt and it makes sense that this Bat is a master of prep-time, rather than a Batman that was only in costume for 5-6 years before Court of Owls and subsequent runs.
Will you be doing the entirety of Final Crisis, or just the relevant bits from Time and the Batman?
>>87546894
Final Crisis will be included in this volume. I know I already did it in a previous thread but I wanna post the entire collection, not just the parts I didn't do. I know some peeps may hate that, but they can just ignore this thread till I get back to the material they wanna see.
>>87547161
Bruce having to relearn how to be Bruce is a fantastic character moment. I think it was Robin who said that at first he thought Bruce was putting on a Batman voice, then he realized that it's Batman putting on his Bruce Wayne voice. That speaks volumes about the state Bruce is in.
>>87547260
I don't know why but I always hated Jezebel Jet. The first time I laid eyes on her I unconsciously labeled her as a bitch. Bruce needs someone like Zatana, Wondy, or Silver St. Cloud
Starting the first issue with Joker and Man Bat, Morrison clearly likes digging around the toybox.
Good stuff, OP. I reread Multiversity all the way through b/c of you and enjoyed it a lot more the 2nd time.
>>87547699
Glad to be of service. Most of Morrison's work reads better the second time around.
>>87547998
bump
>>87548021
Ur good people
>>87547341
i always liked her. i knew Grant was going to either turn her or make her a tragic figure and i loved the reveal. and then the other reveal in Batman Inc. i also love this particular issue with the overt references to pop art. damn,i wish Kubert stayed on longer than he did. i view Tony Daniel's issues as rather an artist who bit off more than he can chew with Grant's Batman.
>>87546891
foreshadowing like a mofo, here.
btw, i think a Batman with his entire history is a hell of a lot more fun than a beginner's Batman. hence, why i never got into Snyder's run. DC letting Grant run amok with Batman was/is epic. blows my mind when people don't rank it as one of the best interpretations of the character EVER.
>>87546913
>>87546928
while i don't have the original issues handy, this dialogue reads like maybe it was rewritten for the trade? i recall they discussed other stuff - random weirdness - during Gordon's bed rest. possibly confabulating.
>>87546474
Hey OP, super pumped for this. Just one request though, if you have a link for the books that you're [psting, could you give me those too? I'd like to read this on my phone (i cant follow the thread always because there's no clover anymore) and wanna read this later tonight.
Bump for respect
>>87546474
>>87546544
What. Did they finally put the whole run out as an omnibus?
>>87549103
Won't be able to post links tonight, but what I will do upload the comics in a password protected rar file and then post the link at a later point. That cool?
>>87549187
I don't think they have, but I could be wrong.
I know this may be a pleb statement but this section never did anything for me. I found it a slog to get through.
>>87549261
cool. thanks and another bump
>>87549675
I agree. I gave it a chance and read the whole thing through but it was rough. I don't even remember what happened in it now.
bumping cause you deserve it bro.
>>87546735
BUmp you glorious motherfucker
>>87549675
i agree with you. Grant's prose has never been his strong suit. no wonder he never wrote a book he threatened to way back when during his Invisibles days. he was calling it The If back then and it was going to tackle similar themes to Invisibles and The Filth. i also find his intro essays in Heavy Metal quite cringe-worthy. funny enough, i love his comic book work. it's his forté.
>>87549898
I found Supergods to be a very good read but that was a work in nonfiction. I wonder how he would do if he wrote a paperback comic story. My personal favorite is Carnage in New York and Revenge of the Sinister Six to be VERY enjoyable.
>>87550215
Best use of forshadowing I've seen in a while.
>>87546735
I'm bumping for glorious batgod
>>87550379
Glad to have ya aboard. This is going to be a wild ride.
>>87549675
I actually really liked it. People give it a ton of shit because of the art, but I think it succeeded in making the Joker feel genuinely unsettling.
>>87546735
Oh FUCK
>>87550922
Holy shit. Jackanapes is here! last time I saw him was the Joker Forever Evil tie in and I loved it.
Does anyone have a download for Batman: The Return, I'm having a really hard time finding the one shot on download sites
>>87546963
>Bruce's schedule
Wake up
Workout
Eat
Work on bat-tech
Batman time
>>87546982
This kinda reminds me of how in BTAS Bruce and batman voice had a night and day difference but by season 4 he was stuck in devoutly pissed off voice
Thanks so much. Good stuff
>>87549187
I think there is a recent torrent that collects most (if not all) of the run in three "books." I don't have a link to it though
>You will never experience reading this run for the first time again.
It was a long 7 years. So many fucking delays. I'm glad I got to read this monthly though.
>>87547186
Wonder how painful the playboy act is for Bruce at this point
>>87547227
How different is this Damian to new-52 damian
>>87547447
Ninja man-bats fuck Morrisons great did we even get man bats in snyders run
>>87551511
He only really existed in Morrison's books. It was towards the end where other writers started writing him.
At first everyone hated him. He was a brat. During the middle of this run he becomes Robin with DickBats and gets a fuckton of character development. Grows on everyone, then gets killed off at the end. DC brings him back and throws everything out the window.
>>87546544
I hope the eventually put out a collection of the retouched Batman Inc besides the Absolute. I want those fixed Burnham pages
>>87547901
And so it begins
>>87547466
That's a good page.
>>87548255
Jesus motherfucking christ
>>87549403
Bat-rocket
Bumping this good thread. Morrison's run is what got me back into reading comics again. It has a special place in my heart. I have it collected in trade and some of the later run in singles. I need to get the absolute of Batman Inc Vol 2 still. I did somenow manage to snag the Grant Morrison variant of the final Batman Inc issue. I'd post the image but I don't want to interrupt the storytime.
>>87550106
Sure you did Bruce, sure you did
>>87546735
bump me sideways daddy-o
Thanks for storytiming OP. Me and my mates are reading along!
>>87550859
Shit the cats been there since the beginning
I have no idea why but part of me really wants to put Battle for the Cowl miniseries in between this and the next volume that covers the adventures of Dick and Damien.
>>87547110
poor man bat, the dude tries so hard
And thus concludes the first part in this multipart adventure! I'll try to bring the issues with me to campus so I can start a thread there. Think I'm going to be pretty indisposed though from 1PM to 7PM (maybe later) so I'll see if I can set up autopost some point during so the thread should keep progressing even while I'm holding the mother of all review sessions. Two words: STATISTICS JEAPORDY!
>>87552818
Don't. It was really shitty, and nothing happens.
>>87552858
This should be in a museum fifty years from now.
>>87548127
ive never read the morrison stuff before but im really liking it, sadly i need to sleep for now.
thanks you're a good anon
>>87551191
Shit there's so much foreshadowing Morrison really planed this out
>>87552591
Well that was really fuvking good, that's what I like about Morrison bats it's a bit more complicated than shit like Snyder run while being fun as fuck
>>87549310
I love Alfred
>>87549476
>>87549501
>>87549519
Ah man, Bats looks ood in that suit. Reminds me of the Sneaking Suits in thr Metal Gear video games.
>>87551222
hnnnnnnnnn
Just a quick bump, keep up the good work Anon
>>87547564
I see what he did there
Read it now
-Hh-
>>87552983
so who is writing Zur En Arrh here and on where is it being written, exactly? if it's the evil Batman/cop as the blue glove indicates, presumably under the instructions of Hurt, where is he writing it? on the floor? on Batman's chest? is it Dr. Hurt writing it in someplace else and Grant included it for juxtaposition? feels a bit muddled. however, that's par the course with Grant. and what's the deal with the Kabuki mask Batman sees over the evil Batman? i've an inkling a better artist would have interpreted these pages somewhat more clearly. Tt, Daniel. Tt.
>>87551654
i think people came around to Damien during the Batman and Robin series, especially those first three with art by Frank Quitely. those three issues are my favorite of Grant's entire run. such a shame Quitely cannot keep a monthly schedule. his collabs with Grant are always amazing.
>>87547227
>"There's a chapter in the latest Artemis Fowl I'm keen to catch up on"
Alfred has excellent taste.
>>87549974
Wasn't supergods a Warren Ellis series? or are you talking about something else.
>>87561208
He means the non-fiction book by Morrison about the history of cape comics and how they've become a modern pantheon.
>>87560392
It's a mental thing happening rather than someone doing it on a wall somewhere.
You might argue that Bat-Mite is doing it.
>>87546474
not everyday you see good batman comics being story timed.
>>87561208
read it, mate. good stuff.
>>87561528
ooh, you're right. it could very well be Bat-Mite.
>>87551325
Oh shit, it's a fucking black glove.
>>87553019
Did we ever find out exactly what that thing was on Bat-Mite's back?
BUMP FOR SURVIVAL!
>>87546735
Bumpster dumpster
New thread here.
>>87565679
I'll keep it updated as much as I can till I get home.
