What's up, mah muggas?
It's crossover time! The first of many! It's the Mutant Massacre!!

I'm still pissed off about the Ostrander threads last night.
And here we go!
Oops, something just came up haha
>>85185108
What happened? Someone ruin a Suicide Squad storytime or something?
>>85185314
>>85185405
Wait, is Scalphunter's costume made of guns?
END OF AN ERA
START OF A NEW ONE
I love how Claremont's run is pretty easily divisible into smaller runs.
>>85185108
oh no
>>85185655
Ostrander made a facebook post about liking Suicide Squad, I took a screencap to show /co/. A discussion about creators and comic movies was underway and then it was suddenly deleted. No explanation given.
>>85185760
X-anon commented on it being stupid in a few of the Ostander threads, only reason why I brought it up here.
>>85185800
i missed all that. i'd be scared to share ostrander stuff on /co/ cause of old mindsets about separating 4chan and rl. I don't want anons yelling on his facebook wall!
>>85185108
Yeah, that was some real bullshit. Just when you think mods can't surprise you anymore, they go and pull shit like this.
Hopefully you don't remember Arclight and Vertigo from Deadpool's game.Because that game was pretty shit
Marauders are a cool group of bad guys
i'm gonna miss most of the thread but I'd like to see the talk about howthey don't show the massacreand if that makes it more/less effective.
>>85185696
He was 90's before the 90's!
Is the fight in this event the first time we getWolverine vs Sabretooth?
>>85186017
Well, they show a little of it. Honestly, I'm surprised by howpretty much all of the casualties were unnamed/made-up characters for the crossover. Current writers wouldn't be that merciful
>>85186017
We see a great double page spread of it in...X-Factor, I think.
>>85185972
What is Arclight up to? I've always thought she and Vertigo had pretty good looks, definitely the best of the non-Sabretooth Marauders.
>>85186182
Pretty sure she's dead.
Kind of a shitty leader when it comes to the Morlocks, ain'tcha Storm?
Oh yeah, we missed those issues. Oops.
You know what's funny? There've probably been enough members of the X-men/X-affiliated teams that if you put them all in one room there'd be more of them than were Morlocks.
>>85186124
Interesting how Claremont justcrippled most of the team instead and had them out of commission instead of death. I never realized no named morlock dies, that is strange
Ice fucking cold.
Well, MOSTLY body armor, you mean.
>>85186717
These guys are great X-villains as human supremacy in a way like Sentinals or those newer Stryker kids aren't.
>>85186666
And yet the story still worked even without "shocking big deaths that will change the future of the X-Men FOREVER!!"
Also, checked
This little scene is one of my favorite moments in this X-over.
>A pity, scrambler, I have none
Haha, rekt
PIOTR OF MURDERGeez, we've had a lot of these lately, haven't we?
Crazy to think so many of this X-over's defining events happened in the first issue.
And here's a nice little chart you may remember.
What a page.
>I don't care if you're naked, let's go go go!
Ah, Limbo fashion.
>>85185972
>Because that game was pretty shit
And it got a "HD" rerelease in time for the movie on the current generation
Also I hear that the rerealeses of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 run like garbage and don't even come with the DLC characters despite going for full price
Poor Bobby.
>>85187478
So I heard too. What a joke.
There's always hope, Dani!;_;
Goddammit Bobby, I can't even feel bad for you now.
>Maybe, Bobby, because some of us insist on acting the part
Shots fired
>>85186809
damn brutal
Oh shit.
>>85187679
The Marauders don't mess around
Sinister has a second group of henchmen in the 90's called The Nasty Boys, they were a cool bunch too, but used in barely a handful of issues
>>85185314
>>85185405
>>85185923
>Mutant on mutant violence
Why? To what goal would a mutant have in slaying another?
What would Charlie have done in this situation?
>>85187859
Heh, the Nasty Boys.
>>85187936
There is an explanation way down the line. I forget what is was, but it involvesDark Beast
>>85187936
We'll see way, way, waaay later why this Massacre happened in the first place.
>>85187977
They appear in the same episode of the 90's cartoon where Sinister tells Magneto and Xavier he's going to harvest their " boys"
Why would you call yourself Psylocke if that's what Mojo called you?
>>85188077
Ah shit, wrong commentary on wrong page lol
>>85188038
Yeah, I remember them. Can't believe PAD of all people came up with that name, heh.
Odd, to see a mutant call themselves a "mutie".
>>85188256
The Morlocks seem the type to take pride in the word.
>>85188256
>>85188328
Yeah, kind of like what black people have turned nigga into.
Not trying to create drama.
Geez, poor Betsy.
>>85188328
>>85188368
Yeah, I was thinking of "nigga" too. Or "queer".
>>85188406
Was nigga already mainstream by the mid 80s?
Yeah, you're being kind of a shitty leader right now, 'Ro, not gonna lie.
Ah shit.
Man, these X-men sure can think fast.
>>85185010
Holy fuck you're still going? I followed it for the first 20 threads or so. Godspeed, x-anon.
>>85187321
>I only kidnapped you naked what are you so upset about
Oops, I miscalculated things a bit, will be back asap
>>85188077
Coming up with a new name is hard.
bump for when anon returns
>>85188077
Because the pun is too good to pass up
Phone-Anon here. Should be back in about 10 min or so
Alright, let's do this, motherfuckers.
Stop being a turd, Ororo.
>>85189091
>>85190684
Ha ha, fair enough.
>MUH HONOR
Goddammit Logan, you and your samurai shit.
Time for our first real Wolverine/Sabretooth fight! Also, Betsy gets her own costume
And yes, we got Alan Davis for this issue. Neat huh?
>>85185010
so this means Gambit is soon?
>lookin at dat ass
i think i missed how betsy hooked up with the team? like met them and became friends, was it an annual
>>85192305
Which didn't keep him from stabbing a young girl in the heart to keep her from killing a murderer.
>>85192545
Gambit won't show up for another 5 years or so, retcons aside.
>>85192634
A defenseless murderer! I feel like samurai honor bs would mean Wolverine would've let it go if it was a proper duel.
>>85192608
Last storytime, senpai.
>>85192608
Yeah, it was last thread.
>>85192681
>>85192710
thankee sai
>>85192681
creepiest claremont ship?!??!
y/n
>>85192660
No, X-Men don't kill! But it's ok when he does it.
>>85192645
Damn.
>>85192809
well that's his job, to be the dude who'll kill so you don't have to. i hear he's the best there is
>>85192794
Definitely, what a shit ship.
>>85192794
There has to be a creepier one.
>>85192845
>the best there is
That reminds me of something I forgot to run this Weekend of Pain.
Dammit, Alison.
Hey, time for a classic Claremontism!
>fry his brain
I dunno, wasn't last time you did that horribly traumatizing or something?
Based.
I think this is the first time it's mentioned that Sabertooth is a mutant, since in his first few appearances he didn't seem to have his healing factor.
>>85193115
Yeah, but that was a guy who looked just like her brother who was trying to rape her.
>>85192945ROUTE SNIKTY SNIKT??
>>85193047
Claremontism Power Rankings
1. I'm nigh invulnerable when ah'm blastin
2. No quarter asked, and none given
3. body and soul!
4. The focused totality of her psychic power!
Oh you done fucked up now, bub.
>>85193221
Yeah, just feel like she shouldn't talk about that ability so casually is all. But that's just me.
>>85193278
>ROUTE SNIKTY SNIKT??
That was good though.
>>85193278
My favorite is BODY AND SOUL.
>>85187421
IT HASNT EVEN STARTED
This is a great fucking fight.
Dammit, Logan.
Best Psylocke costume desu
>>85193582
>>85193628
>this backstory
i love the idea claremont had of Sabretooth beinga clone that Sinisteruses and they're just disposable...except the one wolverine fights on his birthday.he's the actual sabretooth and wolverine's dad
>>85193661
Yeah, I was thinking back on Remender's X-Force, which is amazing, and how Betty seems so much worse there. like less personality, less of a person. but maybe i just didn't know much about her so her stuff never connected with me
Didn't they have this exact same conversation about the Avengers already?
Oh right, this is kind of a flashback, d'oh
>>85192794
Rahne/Wolf Prince
>>85193661
thoes hips
>>85193756
Well, she's less expressive. Harder, colder, etc. But if you consider her journey (even only up through the Jim Lee era) it makes sense that she's changed.
>>85192794
n
Sat-Yr-9/Kitty is worse.
This is pretty goddamn ironic.
>>85194285
>>85194428
WHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL THESE CREEPY SHIPS
>>85194477
>Hit the ugly FAT one
Oh, Marvel citizens, you never let me down.
>conservative administration
Pfft hwhat?
Prick.
>>85194612
this is Reagan era right?
that is a weird thing to call freedom force tho
Aw.
>>85194750
Yeah, a goverment-sponsored mutie team is like the exact opposite of that.
Destiny, Cyclops will never be evil because is evil iswrong
>>85194847
i really want the Marvel Suicide Squad book with whoever Freedom Force's Amanda Waller is.
>>85194981
Well, that was Thunderbolts for a while.
I'm feeling burnout on these comics and I started with Longshot. How do you survive this long to get here?
Except no Amanda Waller, although it did have nutso Stormin' Norman so that was fun.
>>85195047
I dunno man, I've been reading X-Men since I learned to read.
That's all for now, come back later as the Massacre continues!
>>85195120
Ah. So you have more resistance to binge-reading. Like the only ones I read until high school were an Excalibur Annual (Mojo Mayhem) and a couple of single issues and then was just like ~20 issue black and white reprint books of various series every couple weeks. I agree with your sentiment that X-Factor is fucking stupid.
>>85195309
>>85195047
yeah it took me months to originally read this stuff cause I'd do chunks of issues months apart.
>>85193719
I hate how Marvel has treated Creed. He's one of the scariest super-villains. Wolverine '99 still gets to me a little bit when I read it. That entire build up of Creed breaking out of the cell, knowing he could have done it at any time, but he was waiting patiently for the right time. Then proceeds to get his ass whooped by Logan, only to use it to his advantage as kitty-creed to get the drop on the X-men. His entire "heroic" arc back then was awesome. Not a hero, just a monster on a leash the X-Men were trying to help and it eventually bite them in the ass. Literally in Psylockes case. Which is why the fight here between Psy & Creed is amusing since we know how it turns out in the future.
Sabertooth is what Wolverine has always feared he'll become. It's why he took the path of the Samurai. But writers downplay all that and make Creed a slavering monster joke character that as was said once before, a poor man's Wolverine.
Luckily when they had the big important battle for adamantium in front of Apocaylpse, Wolvie said it best. Creed was better than Logan in every way, except he ran his mouth too much. Which is when it gave Logan the opportunity to fuck him up. His biggest flaw is his own ego.
>>85189091
Neuroknight
Lady Butterfly
Sum Totality
Mindtap
Mnemonic
...
Fuck, this is hard.
>>85196412
>Sum Totality
>>85188016
Are you referring to Lobdell's Gambit storyline in #350?
>>85192493
>>85192538
Amaze-balls awesome Alan Davis artwork. LOVE.
>>85197282
Nah, I'm talking about Loeb's Cable. In it,Sinister discovers Sugar Man's experiments in Genosha (based on his research) and implies very overtly he ordered the Morlocks (aka Dark Beast's experiments also based on Sinister's research) wiped out because, unlike Sugar Man's experiments, they could breed.
>>85198619
That sounds really dumb.
>>85195180
>second panel
Oh Scott, this is barely the beginning of your suffering.
>>85193756
It seems like after the Kwannon switch they decided it was best to start pushing her as the badass fighter and by the '90s the cold, kick-ass warrior woman thing was in full swing throughout comics so that's been her character ever since. I'm going to assume that was mainly Lee who pushed for that since the switch and her subsequent fighting prowess is revealed in the issues he pencilled/by the time he takes over as the main artist and that really just seems like the type of thing he'd do (badass Asian ninja woman). I can't say that I have much of a problem in the sense that I hate sexy seductress white Psylocke and '90s warrior woman Asian Psylocke but the latter is far more boring and dour and thus more of a chore to read.
>>85193997
Skids is one of those characters that I kind of wish was used more. I like her shtick of wanting a normal life away from all the mutant bullshit but constantly getting bounced from what bad situation to the next with no real choice in the matter. They sort of did the same thing with Cecilia Reyes.
>>85200516
Would a badass white woman of the sword Psylocke work?
>>85201005
Wouldn't she just be Zealot in that case?
>>85185010
X-Anon why can't I know you irl? All my friends are only into the damn movies non of them bother to read the source material. Fucking feels bad man. Keep up gods work.
>>85201394
Eh?
Zealot doesn't seem to make sense for this. Is this an auto-correct thing?
>>85199380
That's Jeph Loeb for you.
>>85186193
>Wolverine needed time to heal completely.
>Magneto is reformed, now serves as headmaster of Prof. X's school.
I kinda miss these days.
>>85188615
And here's the very first time I sae Sabretooth.
>>85186329
Storm's leadership abilities may be overstated in general.
>>85200753
I am a big Dr. Cecilia Reyes fan.
>>85201654
I know how you feel, anon. I wish X-Anon were my neighbor. I imagine myself going over to his house, drinking whiskey and colas, and talking about all the good and bad times of the X-Men franchise. Just once I want to clink glasses with X-Anon.
I need more friends who read comics in general, but especially fellow X-Men fans. And not just online friends.
X-Anon, you should make an X-Anon Facebook page!
>>85201771
I think anon is referring to Zealot from Jim Lee's Wildcats.
>>85188371
Christ some of these digital versions are practically indistinct blobs.
The inks just disappear into the new colours.
>>85194764
Top Mutant Friendship begins.
>>85194981
Freedom Force's Waller was Val Cooper I think.
At least I think so. I think she was responsible for the era of X-Factor where Mystique and Sabertooth were forced onto the team with bomb collars.
And she was involved in ONE, too, I think.
>>85195074
Destiny saw Cyclops "become evil" and Rusty Collins die.
Dear god, her future visions were always true!
>>85200753
Didn't Skids basically not appear from Rusty's death on the out end of AoA until after M-Day?
Being an X-Kid who isn't a New Mutant is rough.
>>85201654
>>85203601
Oh trust me, you do not want to meet me irl, I am boring af lol
>>85187148
This is one oddly upbeat chart.
>>85205317
She showed up during the John Francis Moore run on X-Force where she was attending college and she and Locus from the MLF were captured by some sorceress before eventually being freed by X-Force. Then she showed up during an arc on Claremont's X-Treme X-Men. Then it was nothing until that Morlock/Destiny's Diary arc of Bru's Uncanny where it was revealed she was a SHIELD agent. I don't think she's been seen since and that was almost 10 years ago.
