Seeing J’onn tonight basically made me realize something. In a supreme display of POETRY, has the Flash once again ushered the Silver Age, this time for DC’s live action properties?
Prior to the Flash, DC focused on darker, grounded, Nolan-inspired work including:
>The Dark Knight trilogy
>Watchmen
>Man of Steel
>Arrow
>Gotham
After the Flash, DC has:
>The Flash – superpowers, time travel, multiple dimensions, Grodd, King Shark, etc.
>Arrow – Lazarus Pits, etc.
>Vixen – magical talismans, etc.
>Legends of Tomorrow – everything
>Supergirl – superpowers, Red Tornado, Martian Manhunter, etc.
>Gotham – crazier season 2, including the Order of St. Dumas, Barbara and the Arkham inmates, etc.
>BvS – going by the last trailer it feels really big and has a few more moments of levity, costumes are pretty comic accurate, Wonder Woman supposedly a demigod, etc.
>SS – real magic, etc.
Ever since the Flash debuted, all of DC’s live action properties have seemingly really embraced the crazier, larger-than-life, gods-walk-among-us style that DC’s comics have that separates itself from other comic universes. It seems like we’re finally starting to see the real fruits of Geoff Johns as CCO and DC’s greater involvement in their live action properties after they started planning on moving closer to WB late in 2013. And as someone who actually like’s DC’s style, that’s really fucking cool.

Arrow didn't at first, but began to change as a result of Flash.
I personally think it's a phase we've entered as a society. Riding in on the coattails of "wow those Avengers guys are cool!" when they used to be nothing but B-listers about a decade ago.
But for now, enjoy the live action capeshit - and try not to shitpost about it.
The live threads are the one and ONLY thing which truly brings /co/ together, like we're some giant-ass dysfunctional and racist family. We are :'), and nothing will change that - especially the racist part. :'(
I just think it's funny that they needed to relearn that people like levity and goofy shit.
With all the material from the comics, the fact that CW/WB has to rediscover what does and doesn't work for a large scale product is pretty funny.

Zenith is really good but man, Morrison has had the same interests for like 30 years now.
Most people's sense of self identity is complete by the time they're in their mid twenties, so it makes sense.

Read JLA.

I've read everything Morrison's written except for Zenith (almost done), his other British work, and some of his lesser Vertigo stuff.
It's good, I love him, but he has very repetitive motifs.
i like cartoons with lots of bang pop & sizzle but i will not watch like HEY ANIME MAN you know that just seems a little too macho, im not into that kind of action, something more like original poster picture. lots of bang pop sizzle is most important attribute

What did you think of Justice League Unlimited?
Pretty great. Wished it was longer or they at least gave a real follow up the plot about the clone heroes instead of just having an army of Apache Chiefs attack.
It's the best superhero cartoon ever made.
>>78017573
>instead of just having an army of Apache Chiefs attack
>implying this wasn't the single greatest moment in American history since the Trail of Tears
ITT: Moments in cartoons that kickstarted your weird fetish.
Pic very much related.

>Lobster Claws
Monsters are so evil that they can not be reformed, even if they want to be.
>Mewnipendence Day
Monsters are just fighting to reclaim their homeland.
Bravo, Nefcy.
>>78016322
not all monsters.
I think the first was trying to set up for the second by making the audience start to doubt whether Star is right about monsters deserving to be fought etc.
But by portraying Lobster Claws as kind of a pussy who's desperate for anyone's acceptance/approval (switches between following Ludo to Star and then right back to Ludo entirely because they're willing to put up with his shit for the time being) the overall point was sort of distorted.
What's not to understand? Monsters have been demonized by Mewnian propaganda to fool the common folk and heirs to the throne that they are a threat to their way of life.
Why did I love her so much? Why is there literally no art of her? If she was to become a mainstream villain, or what would you do with her character to make her more popular?
I felt the same way about Live Wire and Cynthonna.
>>78016293
Livewire actually has a lot of pretty decent fan art! She's pretty popular, but I've never heard of Cynthonna
The show was full of waifus. I was a fan of their Giganta
Will we ever find out what his real name is?
>>78015860
Isn't it Jack?
It'll be the final line when he returns home after killing Aku, his mom will say, "Welcome Home_______."

>episode cuts off mid-sentence a la Krusty Krab Training Video
Now that western animation is starting to borrow more and more from anime, what stuff from anime would love to see more of in cartoons?
What stuff from anime would you hate to see in western animation?
an actual coherent plot instead of episodic ones
>What stuff from anime would you hate to see in western animation?
Eastern dialogs.
Honestly just higher quality and more fight scenes.
Although it happens more in webcomics than animation it really pisses me off whenever they use Anime high school tropes for something that doesn't take place in Japan. The school uniforms, over the top tsunderes all that shit doesn't actually happen in Western high schools. I mean sure a lot of western high school tropes are ridiculous and don't make sense but at least they were grounded in reality at some point. Shitty anime tropes that artists use in their story because they were inspired by anime never actually happened in high school and they would know that if they didn't spend high school with no friends reading manga.
