TL:DR He promised that the previous election would be the last to use "First Past the Post." Held a poll/ survey thing in which all Canadians were invited to give their input on the current system and proposed solutions. We the citizens were completely divided on what the nation should do, leaving no clear answer as to a solution, so he's backed away from the subject (since it costs a fucking fortune to do that shit in the first place). Now everyone's pissed at him because he didn't use some sort of system to artificially determine a clear victor in terms of proposed solutions. Ergo, everyone's pissed he didn't use a "First Past the Post"-style system to do away with the First Past the Post system.

Not that dude but I'll give it a go.

Okay, so imagine you already have quite a bit of credit card debt. The SMART thing to do is to find a way to pay down or at least service the interest on that debt.

But what's Trudeau doing? The equivalent of getting more credit cards so he can rack them up with even MORE debt that we can't possibly pay off now and will be paying for the next 20 years.

The worst part about being a Conservative is you have to tell people there's no such thing as unlimited free money. It HAS to come from somewhere OR sometime and you can't keep borrowing on the future indefinitely.

He promised electoral reform, and that the 2015 election would be the last using the FPTP system. Then, because the FPTP system had delivered him a majority government, he decided he actually didn't care about electoral reform. He's no longer even pursuing the subject.

He also promised to champion environmental causes, and at the beginning of his term pundits were even joking that Elizabeth May was going to fold the Green Party and join the Liberals instead. Months later it became apparently Justin doesn't actually care about GHG emissions and that Canada under his government isn't even going to meet HARPER's targets.

Justin Trudeau, like all Liberals, campaigns on the left and governs on the right.

He's supportive of affirmative action, is wildly overspending and is imposing a carbon tax on the provinces.

Affirmative action is a bad position for the PM to take because it's unmeritocratic. The best person for the cabinet position should get the cabinet position; gender and race and sexual orientation are irrelevant to aptitude for the role and thus should be irrelevant for acquiring the role. The cabinet is gender balanced at the cost of effectiveness.

Deficit spending is a bad position for the PM to take because it harms the government's current real fiscal capacity in the short term and is irresponsible in the long-term. That other countries also spend themselves into debt does not mean that Canada should too. A lot of Trudeau's particular expenditures are also questionable. Foreign aid spending is particular egregious as it does not actually advantage Canada itself in any way, shape or form, making it clearly a bad move for the Prime Minister of the country of Canada—the PM's duty is to Canadians first.

Imposing a carbon tax on the provinces is a bad position for the PM to take for three separate reasons.

a) It's ineffective, in two different ways. British Columbia's carbon tax has failed to actually reduce emissions, and Trudeau's proposed tax doesn't even go as far as BC's. It is also an attempt at using domestic policy to solve a global problem. Even if Canada eliminated all greenhouse gas emissions entirely—banning all internal combustion engines and cow farts—it would only reduce global emissions a tiny fraction. The best way to reduce emissions is to invest in technology that renders previous, environmentally unfriendly technology obsolete.

b) It's bad for the economy. A free market economy like Canada's depends on private investment, and any new tax (or """price""") is going to having a chilling effect on private investment. This will be exacerbated by taxes being cut south of the border, putting Canada at a disadvantage.

(1/2)
>>
>>728067105
>The cabinet is gender balanced at the cost of effectiveness.
evidence?
>>
>>728067105
c) It's a violation of Canada's division of powers. The federal government should not be able to force a province to impose a tax that it does not want to impose. If Trudeau really does want all of the provinces to come to their own solution to climate change, he should accept that for some of them, that solution isn't going to be a new tax.

Maryam Monsef is a good example. She had no experience in the position she was given (Democratic Institutions) and also no experience in cabinet, and with Justin's (broken) electoral reform promise, Democratic Institutions was an important role. Miss Monsef was only put in cabinet because she was female and a refugee; she looked good to be in cabinet, but didn't have the aptitude. Justin Trudeau agrees with me: he had her demoted for incompetence in a cabinet shuffle in January.

If what you say is true, you can do a hell of a lot with a trillion dollars if you're spending it just on infrastructure.

Actually we're not. On the federal level we have a lot more unpaid liabilities for our size than Washington D.C. has, same for the provinces. Canada's provinces are also much further in debt (per capita) than the States. Ontario, with a population lower than numerous U.S. states, has the highest debt load of any North American political subdivision.
>>
>>728069214
Dude, bullshit. We wouldn't need a carbon tax if businesses used resources correctly. If they're going to pollute, then we need revenues to offset the damage they're doing, which I agree won't be enough, but it sends the message to behave as a business responsibly. I'd rather have the tax in place if they're not going to take care of the problem as the private sector. And you have no proof it's bad for the economy. They need to straighten up their fucking act and adopt energy efficient policies.

>If they're going to pollute, then we need revenues to offset the damage they're doing, which I agree won't be enough, but it sends the message to behave as a business responsibly.

You acknowledge that carbon taxes don't work, but want one anyway just to 'send a message'? The message you'd be sending is: "stay out of Canada". That's not going to be good for workers. Capital flight means fewer jobs and lower wages.

>you have no proof it's bad for the economy

A free market economy like Canada's depends on private investment, and *any* new tax (or """price""") is going to having a chilling effect on private investment. This will be exacerbated by taxes being cut south of the border, putting Canada at a disadvantage. Unless, in addition to imposing a carbon tax, we also collectivize the means of production, there is going to be less investment in the Canadian economy and therefore less growth.

This is bound to catch up to us sooner or later. The PIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Spain) were facing austerity measures before the EU (primarily Germany) bailed them out.
Canada doesn't have a socialist nanny state, the overspending of our recent politicians will have repercussions.
Harper was bad for debt also, and he let in too many Muslims; Justin is just several times worst.

There is historical precedent for what happens when governments run out of money; Weimar republic, Argentina's debt crisis and hyperinflation, and many other third world countries that are shit at economics.
Of course there are all those failed communist states (worst case scenario, and lets' hope nobody tries to solve the economic problems Trudeau will cause with authoritarian socio-economic policies).

He sold the gold reserve because he thought Canada could run their economy without a gold standard OR exports.

He blindly followed Obama's Cold War against Russia despite the damage it would do to Canada, and there's evidence that he was part of the plot to drop oil prices to Damage Russia's Oil industry.

At the G20 summit, he suddenly decided to keep his gob shut when Putin threatened to reveal which countries we're buying oil from/funding Isis.
The reason most people hate him is because of what he said in the Elections, because they're too fucking partisan to realize that he was lying to pander to his audience.

When he says something the people that "the hate the Liberal party" like, he's lying, when he says something they don't like, he's telling the truth.

People think on the right-left divide, or by the party they decided to associate with, and base their opinion on what he says. I agree. It is scary.

But tightening the belt is rarely a recipe for success. On a microcosmic level, many embattled U.S. companies had this same choice to make.

Companies like Circuit City and Blockbuster chose to tighten the belt. Companies like Burger King and Apple chose to adjust their marketing and introduce new products. You know which ones succeeded and which ones failed.

Sometimes it's just about making smarter investments. Infrastructure is a good investment. Syria, on the other hand, not so much. If Trump pursues a globalist agenda after running a populist campaign, he will not see a second term.

Canada is sending 600 million to Africa for birth control aid. There is an actual genocide about to happen in South Africa and one of their largest political party's is egging on the citizens to kill all of the whites as they blame them for all their problems etc. Our government is sending financial aid to a government about to turn a blind eye to a mass genocide of white citizens. It isn't even really the fact that they are white as much as any group mass murdering any other group is absolutely barbaric. I'm Canadian and we are not asked what we approve of for aid or immigration. Everyone is too busy pissing away their time to stop and actually recognize what's happening here and how we creep closer and closer to a communist state. It's only when people start being jailed or goulaged en mass for breaking any of the new and vague laws being rammed through that it will sink in. If you're referring to the OIL trade, that was an anomaly and the CDN dolla will NEVER recover from investment in the oil and gas sector alone.

Canada needs to diversify its markets if you ever want to see a loonie near par again.

I honestly think he got here on Daddy's connections and being a pretty-boy, and I wish he'd grow a pair and take an actual stand on something.
>>
>>728070384
The Prime Minister of Canada is not Canada's chief executive officer. Justin Trudeau does not plan the Canadian economy in the way the board of Apple and Burger King plan their respective companies. Justin Trudeau's role is not to come up with a new strategy for Canadian businesses—that's Canadian business' job. Trimming government expenditures does not mean restraining the private sector; au contraire, every dollar that Trudeau doesn't spend is a dollar and a half the economy does spend. Fiscal conservatism isn't about promoting economic malaise, it's about supporting the private sector, rather than government, as the engine of the economy.

If you lived here it would make more sense. There is a huge disconnect between government and citizens and the vast majority take no interest in what happens. The media is largely financed by the government and they pay for a product and the media delivers. The schools have everyone for 12 years to drill the govt agenda into their heads to begin with then the rest of the time any exposure to any mainstream media (tv) is there to keep the narrative up while people are not working or sleeping. The way society is here it's a miracal there are any people with views outside of the government approved model
>>
>>728071010
I see. Well, my point wasn't about businesses, that's why I used the term "microcosmic."

I want leaders to use common sense and see every taxpayer dollar as an investment, just as a CEO would. I want them to ask themselves "Does this benefit my country and its citizens?" If the answer is "no," then the determination should be no as well.

The problem is that leaders don't feel at all threatened by the potential failures of their countries.

As I said, I have no problem at all with a large infrastructure budget. I do have a problem with illegal immigrants and Islamic refugees entering the country. I have a problem with violent thuggery, lawlessness and entitled laziness. I also have a problem with spending taxpayer money to send troops to die in Muslim shitholes that I couldn't possibly care less about. That's one thing the U.S. could learn from China. Even though they've got a huge fucking military, if you're not personally attacking China, China doesn't give a fuck what happens.

..you're quite right. There is a huge social engineering program in all Canadian schools. They basically want to castrate the men, and engineer an outcome of 50% or more women in all the "desirable" careers. In Ontario, they now teach children that there are six genders they can be according to how they feel. They teach that there are no biological differences between the sexes. I repeat, they are teaching this crap to CHILDREN. Why do you think there are so many fucked up kids today.

Oh yes. Any shred of previous values and culture that made Canada, Canada is being shredded and replaced with hyperindividulaism and other Marxist post modern ideas. If everyone gets to choose their identity and it's all subjective it basicly defeats any ability to call others out over their actions and or cultural beliefs. My biggest gripe with him is this stupid carbon tax/ emissions plan. Canada does fuck all for Greenhouse gas input/output on the global scale (like maybe 1-2%). It's now costing me and my company more money to do things, which in turn costs you; the consumer; more money for little to no reason.

That was already done in Ontario. it failed miserably, because nobody is going to buy a fucking 40 "green" car that only has a very short range. As a matter of fact, I remember there was a statistic that these subsidized nissan leafs, prius EV's e.t.c were eing outsold by a 60 grand ford F-150 SVT raptor. The ontario government was subsidizing about 8000 per vehicle, so it was 32 grand plus HST.

In short, the people who had little money bought the sub 20 grand gas-powered vehicles that gone much further, and the people who did have the money had very little interest and opted to buy what they actually wanted.

That was your point, I asked for you to list a few chief examples of the previous Liberal party scandels that the Conservatives reap'd/continued like you said.

I don't think you understand. There really IS a concerted effort amongst the elites for things like globalism and social constructivism (feminism, gender identity, gender parity, equal outcome not equal opportunity societies, disregard for inconvenient science), and Trudeau is an ideologue in the truest sense. He puts these ideas higher than any idea of "Canada" that's for sure. The left is creeping ever closer toward intolerance.. closer to totalitarianism.

>>728075794
Islam should have been culled from humanity.
The only problem is something similar would/would've probably taken its place

Despite the scandals I seem to remember Libs leaving a nice lump of cash that Harper and his cronies quickly pissed away, how come they always seem to be the ones doing that huh where are all the fiscal conservatives these days? Oh that's right they only care when it's not them spending that money, oops,

indeed, although i haven't heard much of anything about the harper governments scandals so i can't really comment on them.
harper worked hard at shrinking the government, which is good imo.

lol the libs have been spending countless monies on themselves, hundreds of thousands just to move.
both governments were/are doing this shit, cause they're allowed to. someone should change that shit, but eh, they're too busy revoking our freedom of speech laws to bother with saving the tax payers monies.
>>
>>728077357
Pfff, drops in the ocean, the deal reaps millions. Sure they tried to cover their ass, but that misses the big picture.

Every government does that

Canada has net negative carbon emissions. Millions of acres of green space that absorb more than we produce. Look at the population density and the land area. Canada does not look like southern California or China, where you have air quality warnings on a daily basis. It may be a problem globally, but it's just not in Canada. This is a globalist agenda, and not something in the best interest of actual citizens.

Trudeau is an uneducated candyass with no real plan. Just like his father... spend, spend, spend. No one seems to care that he is mismanaging their tax dollars and eliminating tax credits that primarily benefit low income individuals (students).

Not being a hater, but I'm currently travelling around Europe and Asia for 6 months and everyone basically thinks the US are a bunch of backwards hicks. Like, they don't hate them or say bad things about them or anything, everyone just can't seem to understand why the US is so behind the rest of the world on social issues, healthcare, gun control, etc.

So yeah, the US is perhaps not as great as they think they are.

Look up Georgism / Geo-tax / Land Value Tax. Logically extend the concept to apply to air, water, and other resources like "land", and badaboom -- carbon tax, and government overtaxing inefficiencies in general, solved.

I'm something of a libertarian socialist, but I think we can both agree that the best solution isn't a "band aid" like a carbon tax that introduces inefficiencies into the system in the hopes of, well, slowing the entire system down enough to stop it. That kind of hippy nonsense is absurd and unrealistic. The machine, rather, needs to be reformed -- evolutionarily. Revolution has a tendency to be stupidly radical and throw all the babies out with the bathwater, y'know?
>>
>>728082451
realistically
>evolutionarily
is taking us the radical route.
speaking out against violent bigots and the bullshit reasons they use to justify their atrocious acts is now illegal.
>>
He's a yes man to the globalist elites. Just like most all corrupt leaders of western countries. They will introduce policies against the desires of the people. The majority didn't want a carbon tax. You can be sure the cost of which will be past onto consumers.
>>
>>728070618
I would disagree but agree, the only way the Looney rises is with another oil bubble. But this "bubble then crash then bubble" trend has happened many times before with the price of oil, so it's very likely that we will see another bubble and crash of the price of oil, maybe 3-4 before oil runs out.
