Alright I had to do some serious MS painting on an aerial map of the field I was on to help illustrate my point.
The playing field is outlined in pink, green spawn was the red dot, tan spawn was yellow dot.
So it was raining for the two days prior and the creek (blue line) was overflowing. I'd say it was about 7-10 feet wide and about 2 feet deep and it was moving along at a decent pace.
For some reason the admin has green spawn on peninsula on the other side of the creek EVERY SINGLE GAME. The only way to the other side of the creek was across a foot wide, ungrounded procession of wooden pallets. The team had to go single file across the 'bridge' to get to the field or back to respawn (which was frequent since we had only 1 medic when we were supposed to have 5)
So as you might expect by the time 1/5th of our team was across the creek at the start of the game, tan team had already pushed into the houses at the creek bed. Needless to say we got massacred before even crossing the bridge out of spawn. The few times we were even able to cross nobody could clear the buildings because the only people that were still around were the kids with rentals and no pistols.
As this all was happening the admin was sitting on our spawn simultaneously yelling through a loudspeaker that we need to push up and calling people out that on our side that were being shot at in the most remote sense.

My favourite point was when I was inside one of the buildings behind a tan player (unaware I was there) with the admin. I pointed out the situation and that I didn't have a pistol and asked if there was anything I could do to kill him. Admin said literally 'just get a pistols it's not even a matter of money I have 6 of them' and told me to go respawn.
There's so many solutions to this whole situation I wouldn't even know where to start.
I'm probably leaving bits out but it's past midnight so oh-well. I'll go to bed angry now.

Lower Face Protection, people who wear it are scummers or shitters 90% of the time.

Minimum Engagement Distances, bang rules and pistols only is utter bullshit, I'm fine with no F/A indoors.

Airsoft is a big-boy game, if you wanna keep it a big-boy game you have to play by big-boy rules.

People who can't take hits shouldn't play.

Sorry, I like my teeth.

And 90% of the time, MEDs are based on insurance, so if you like your local field's prices and cleanliness, you only get that because they agree to certain policies with their insurance company.

Wear a mouth guard like any other sport than. Or you know be on your gun and paying attention. Hard to get shot in the tooth when your your face is buried into your stock. I'll say it again every time I've run into a cheater or scummer they've been a fucktard in a full face mask or have one of those mesh lowers.

>>825172
Generally excessive, also with most large OP rules Riflemen are restricted to semi-auto and comparatively lower power, and the only F/A guys are MGs with higher energy limits. It changes the pace of indoor engagements, it leans them towards to the more skilled and co-ordinated teams.

But what do I know i've only been playing since 2000....

>I'll say it again every time I've run into a cheater or scummer they've been a fucktard in a full face mask or have one of those mesh lowers.
So... out of the majority of players come the majority of cheaters? There's loads of times where I won't have my gun in my face, like if I'm using a pistol or carrying an objective. You can cry and make shitty associations all you like, but I like my teeth where they are and would rather not impede communications as much as a full mouth guard.

Related to this, does anyone have a recommendation for sights? I play indoor and outdoor roughly in equal amounts, so a mid-range sight might be for the best for now.
>>
>>825544
Unless you have one of those SOCOM M14s or your indoor fields are more open then I'd recommend not bothering with an M14 indoors.

I know its a bit early but has anyone else thought about the National Airsoft Festival that happens every year in the UK?

It's not especially organised like a milsim event, but it's such a good excuse to go play "Let's pretend" in a field for a long weekend, would be great to do it with other people in the thread.

>>
>>825665
Start cheap. Try and borrow a spare gun if you can, if not just rent one. Have some fun, enjoy getting hurt, treat it as a social outing first and a sports activity second.

Play by the rules hard. Don't call out other people for not playing by the rules.

Do it in either jeans and a hoodie, or check your local army surplus for some CS95 combats. Boots are pretty mandatory but any kind of boot will do.

What uni are you at? Fuck I wish mine had an airsoft society.
>>
>>825677
I'll go along to a meeting they're having in a couple of days. Won't be able to actually play until next term though.

>>825687
If I like the look of the group then I don't plan on buying a gun until I can get my UKARA signup. Looks like the society has their own rental system though so I'll probably just go with that.

I'm at UKC (Kent). I think the society is fairly new but I'm not really surprised, we even have a proper shooting society.

>>
>>826136
>I certainly have, and the longer the distance the worse irons are and the more useful optics and red dots are
That makes no sense seeing that if you zero'd both to X range they'd have the same accuracy. Red dots and optics either make zeroing quicker or magnify your viewing. Both of those in regards to 1 foot groupings at 300 feet and wind are useless in comparison to concentrating more on guiding you shots by looking at the stream when firing full auto.
>>
>>826136
It's really uncomfortable for me. M60's iron sights are awesome, and I really got used to noticing small movements.
>>
What model nerf gun are you getting for christmas lads?
>>
>>826138
To clarify and perhaps precision isn't the right word; in a situation where I'm going to engadge and enemy at range I want to be able to shoot as short a burst as possible to prevent discovery and minimize my noise signature, using an optic thats zero'd allows for a higher likelyhood of a first shot hit and therefore a shorter burst.
>>826144
Due to the high speed nature of airsoft and constant motion its difficult to get a proper sight picture with ironsights, a red dot reduces the time it takes and will allow you to be able to put down accurate fire quickly due to the ease of obtaining sight picture.
>>826153
Get a riser, it'll be more comfortable, M60 irons are also very boxy and obstructive, plenty of room to miss things that you'd see with the better FOV of a red dot
>>
>>826170

>Never had the issue of raising my sight picture up quickly outside of CQB. Also in most cases I've never seen an opponent be able to trace my rounds back to me.
>>
>>826174
They trace your position based on sound, also are you really going to argue red dots are as good as irons? People spend $800 on these things for a reason.
>>
>>826182
What gun do you use to make that much sound?
Or are you playing inside large structures or god forbid an indoor field?
>>
>>826183
My gun isn't particularly loud but its loud enough to be able to trace the general direction based on noise and the longer I fire the easier it is to zero my position. How the heck do you find the enemy if they open up on you and you can't immediately see them?
>>
>>826168
Joke's on you. The thing is, LARP with airsoft guns gains popularity in my country, and several games, based on, say, Fallout or WH40k have nerf guns stand as energy weapons. Of course, you paint and modify the shit out of them, but you get the idea.
>>
>>826183
It has to be really hard to play airsoft being deaf. Man, you can hear a gearbox at 80m easily. Even easier if you wear comtacs or the like

I'm new to airsoft, what's a good CQB gun under 200?
>>
>>828058
How CQB?
Field CQB I'd suggest ak74u by cyma (CM045)
Indoor CQB I'd suggest a pistol
>>
>>828058
CYMA CM-45s are usually pretty solid CQB gun choices. Out of the box they shoot hot for CQB though, so you'll need to change out the spring for an M100 or M90. At Evike's current sell price, you'd come in under 200 with a replacement spring, shimming, and regreasing.
>>

will the lack of rails be a problem?

Not unless you want to mount a flashlight or an optic. For that, you can get a metal RIS that replaces the handguard for like $40.

opinion on the combat machines?
>>
>>828476
>>828704
It's a plastic M4 that everyone else starts with? Combat Machines are well regarded, for beginners, but they don't do much better beyond that point. They're also a bit picky with magazines.

If you like the GI-Joe M4 aesthetic, go for it, but the CYMA will hold up better over its lifetime externally and therefore is more worth working on and upgrading as you get better and more experienced.
>>
>>828704
I never payed too much attention to them. I prefer AKs and I am not interested in guns made of ABS plastic externals. From what I have heard they are 'meh' to 'some-what decent' for beginners but I don't have any personal experience with them.

Can attest, its a good gun but shoots about 375 fps with .25s so be warned if your field has limits. Overall an extremely solid gun, stamped steel body, durable as hell and I was able to mount an optic and a flashlight without having to go the rail route. AMA

How difficult was it to remove the orange flash hider and did you remove the inner barrel?
I have a replacement one that I am going to change it with in the mail that should arrive tomorrow.
>>
>>828723
>>828744
This absolutely, a CYMA AK will run you slightly less, accept just about any AK mag in existence without trouble and outperform a CM by a mile, retailers are having trouble keeping Stamped Metal CYMAs in stock
>>
>>828746
>>828780

Now that I'm looking at it again...did you just break it off?
>>
>>828780
Flash hider was a real shitty glue job and was nice cuz don't have to worry about stripping threads or anything, I just took a big old pair of pliers, clamped down and twisted. Just color the now exposed metal tip with marker, you'll never notice.

To disassemble is just like a real AK and is nice and easy unlike TM clones and their bullshit. Set the gun to semi or auto. Lift the dust cover. Remove the button that holds the dust cover down and the spring and charging handle guide rod. Remove the charging handle by moving it all the way to the rear and lifting, if it resists you did it wrong. Now remove the plastic L shaped block the battery normally rests on, then remove the two screws in the hopup which hold it down. Then, take a screwdriver or something and punch out the pin thats right in front of the charging handle, it will only move out one side so try both. Slide the two halves apart and you're done. Sounds long and hard but its simple once you see for yourself.
>>
>>828802
Basically, just grab it with some pliers and twist until it breaks, its glued so thats the only way. It also doesn't look as bad as the picture, in the pic the light is to the right of the gun creating the silver tip effect, normally you can't tell there was ever an orange tip.
>>
>>828746

I know its pretty far away but I feel like I want to start organising it now.

The UK's National Airsoft Festival is happening again this year from August 28th to the 30th (Thats the bank holiday weekend) in the south of the UK and I want to go. I've been a few times several years ago and its always been a great semi-casual bash but the more people you go with the better it is.

It's a 2(and a bit) day standard woodlands game in a large site with about 1000~1500 people split into three teams, lots of variety on the landscape and plenty of simultanious objectives throughout each day.

Outside of the airsoft there is camping, bars, live music, raffles and prizes, stalls from various vendors and plenty of other stuff to.

More info here: http://www.groundzeroairsoft.com/nae/NAE2015/Main.html

Would anyone else be interested? The more people we can get in a group the bigger pitch we can get. Last time I went we set up two gens, a marquee and a projector and stayed up all night watching war movies.

It would be far more effective to trade steam accounts here or in the skype group and tag the guys you know as /asg/ airshitters on your friends list. Groups are often out of sight out of mind and don't actually provide to join for games. Trust me, there are HUGE communities of thousands that don't play together and have dead chats, but maintaining the chat is redundant since there's already a skype group.

So of the two things a Steam group could be, it would either be dead and useless, or yet another circlejerk which in worse case scenarios would create drama with the skype circlejerk. It's just not worth the effort from my view.

Looking for suggestions.
Me and my mate want to do stupid loadouts each skirmish.
We're planning on doing a Lewis and Clark thing but I am having trouble finding a proper rifle. I want an old-fashioned wood hunting style rifle that can be re-purposed to other kits such as WWI soldiers or what-not since they are all quite similar looking rifles. Preferably something that is sub 400 FPS and is bolt action.
Also other costume ideas would be welcome; on the list we have late 1800s high society gentlemen (euphoric), spanish conquistadors, 1920s gangsters, etc.
Pic semi-related

Yeah, trust me, in about five years of managing Steam groups on one level or another, that's not how it works. The chat regulars who like each other will have each other on the friends list, but the mass majority will not. They won't even check the chat.

The problem with the butthurt patch is that it needs to be cleaned up quite a bit. Lines smoothed out and so on.

I made this one for if we ever wanted to open a team page on Mutinyshop. Based it on the C3bu smugface patches, but there's only 7 faces to use for those, and I was planning on getting a special run of the characters for whoever made it out to Rebel Yell 4.

>>830811
Pretty much the same, but you don't get a folding stock. I'd recommend changing the stock out to something more slimline since the battery is under the top cover. Also, less material on the stock means that it'll be a bit more front-heavy than a CM045 with the same front rail, but that is a pretty damn good price. Just make sure to get the spring downgraded if you're bringing it indoors.

I saw the coolest kit for sale online, a guy was selling a Desert Eagle with (pretty much) all the barrels and slides, for all the calibers (.357, .41, .44, .50, .440, regular barrels and 10" barrels), as well as a bracket for the 10" barrel to mount a MP5 handguard. The laser is supposedly rare too.

Has anyone made a bracket like this for an airshit Deagle? There's long barrels, right?

No, but they'd buy me a piece of sporting equipment if it was reasonable. Hell, they've bought $300 divegrass boots for my brother before. Airsoft has no real professional advancement though, so I can't ask them to dive for an LCT or something. The issue isn't really the camouflage. They've bought me camo shorts when we lived elsewhere, but here in Wisconsin, every inbred, Trump spouting, PBR drinking hick wears some article of camo like it's high fashion. Neither of us would like the associations.

Not that I care too much though. I'm still on the fence if I want to get some slavcamo to wear at events where I can't get away with a Hawaiian shirt and dickies.

>>833125
There were 2 different types of 47's with stamped receivers.
>>
>>833063
Its an AK bastard child
>>
>>833164
Yes, there was the initial stamped model of the AK, then the one with the "half" stamped receiver, before it was decided that receivers would be made out of milled steel, due to Soviet factories not being able to create stamped AK receivers properly and consistently at the time (early stamped receivers would sometimes not come out right when they made them, or they were made improperly and would fail in the field).

It was with knowledge gained from captured German factories, and famed Hugo Schmeisser, that the Soviets could advance their technology to consistently make stamped AK receivers to a satisfactory standard.

However, when people talk about AK rifles before the AKM, they typically mean the milled rifles that were issued on the larger scale.

The craziest thing is that the AR-18 could have become the US military's service rifle had they not spent so much on the AR-15. The AR-18 is cheaper and more reliable if I remember correctly and essentially was the AK of the NATO cartridge world, rivaling that of the FAL.

With the amount of effort put into making the AR-15 good, I honestly think it's ultimately a better service rifle overall than the original AR-18.
If I have to decide between an AR-18 and an M16A1 for a real battle, I'm gonna go for the M16A1.

I just really like the AR-18 for it's simple construction and how it influenced later weapons so much. I like the Australian made Leader T2 rifle for the same reason, it's like an AR-18 made EVEN simpler.

Finding something that will fit all three of those criteria is going to be a challenge. Not being a gas gun isn't even a question.
KSC makes a 945 (even though it is more or less a 1911), KSC/KWA and WE both make a Makarov (although maks are single stack in real life, WE makes a PMM though so that's kosher for it to have a double stack), WE makes a Bronwing Hi-Power (Tanaka too, but good luck finding one), and if you really must then both Marui and KWC make a Desert Eagle.

Good enough for me! The grips work too. And it's an agreeable price.
Does it handle green gas? Or do I have to get something else.

>I don't think real-steel grips are easy to find for this pistol
Yeah they aren't really that popular anymore (though who knows, the .380 cartridge has had a real comeback in the past few years since everyone remembered it's an excellent cartridge for a pocket pistol).

I've always kind of liked the idea of a Beretta 81, because there's SO few double-stack .32 pistols, I think it would be a very pleasurable gun to shoot (though the law doesn't think that's a good enough reason for a gun permit around here, sadly).
I asked if anyone made knockoff Pachmayr grips because Al Pacino had a Beretta 81 with Pachmayr grips (and a silencer) as Tony Montana in Scarface, pic related.

I know more about real guns than airsoft, but while the M9 is a locked breech short-recoil pistol, while the Cheetah pistols were unlocked straight-blowback pistols (as is very typical for small caliber pistols).

I've never had my WE M&P slamfire, do WE pistols do this often?

>Does anyone here love firearms from movies/dramas too?
Yeah. Fun tidbit about the Detonics 1911 used in Terminator 2, it was depicted as a .45, but it was actually a 9mm, as .45 guns often had inconsistent reliability with blanks (this was a problem back in the day, but has since been overcome).

Movie guns can be incredibly fascinating. The long-slide with the laser in Terminator 1 had it's laser custom built for the movie by a company that would eventually become Surefire.

The laser was hooked up to a cable running up Arnold's jacket sleeve, and connected to a big battery assembly hidden in his pocket (about the size of a flashlight or so), this was then also connected with a wire to a switch hidden in another pocket, which he would flick to turn the laser on.
This had to be done, because in the 80's, a laser sighting system simply could NOT be made as compact as it was in the movie, it looks big, and it is. You needed a big battery that could light the laser and keep it lit.

>>834232
For comparison, here's a Colt Trooper .357 revolver which was a special variant designed to have a laser, this was as compact as a handgun with a laser sight could be made in the 80's, they shorted down the grip slightly and made the battery pack the bottom part of the (now noticeably longer) grip.

They also modified the hammer so you could get a grip on it from the side, as the big laser on top would get in your way to reach it from above.

Not all laser sighting systems looked this graceful back then, this was among the slicker ones.

You get it in small bottles like lighter gas. Protip, always keep gas in the mag when storing it otherwise the o-ring will dry out and it'll leak.

Get some silicon oil, if your o-rings are leaking leave them to soak in silicon oil for 24 hours and it'll fix it 9/10 times.

Oh, I got one of those! I've actually owned two, the licensed and the unlicensed version. Just got done with removing the plastic tip. A bit of advice: if you're in the US or the EU, it's easier and cheaper to pick up an ASG CZ75. It's the same KJW OEM pistol, but the finish is much better and now that the tip is off, I've noticed it's threaded to accept a suppressor adapter. Not so for the unlicensed version.

As a pistol, I like it quite a bit, but it's not exactly built like a tank. The trigger mechanism is a bit fragile and after a drop in the mud and dirt at a major milsim event, the thing was beyond my ability to repair. The aluminum slide is prone to pend where it secures the rear sight, but that can be fixed with some epoxy. I picked up the ASG licensed version since I could get it cheap. After shipping, getting the KP-09 from Redwolf will cost roughly the same as getting the ASG in the US or Europe (though buy enough mags it'll be cheaper).

One note on the gas is that the pistol doesn't gas up fast. You'll have to hold it in for at least 40 to 60 seconds to not degas the pistol early. It's a CO2-ready pistol, so it should take red gas just fine.

Not to my knowledge.
Both Tokyo Marui and WELL make electric versions, but they're full plastic. Your only options for GBB Uzis are the KWC Mini Uzi and the Maruzen Micro Uzi.
You might be able to somehow modify a demilled or model gun receiver to fit the internals of a KWC Uzi.
>>
>>834703

>>
>>834787
12 gram CO2 cartridges have a little seal that is punctured when you first screw down the cap. If you were to unscrew that cap, the pressure difference between inside the canister and the surrounding air would cause all the CO2 to leave the cartridge and possibly even cause the cartridge to fly out of the magazine if you don't "bleed off" the CO2 by unscrewing the cap slowly.
>>
>>834864
Yea I guessed that with the looks, I googled a bit and people say I can still used unsealed CO2 (still in the mag) for 1 week, is that true?
>>
>>834869
The main risk you get with leaving CO2 in the magazine is the pressure of the CO2 permanently indents the lip of the capsule on your seal. Now this isn't a problem if you're buying the same CO2 from the same company every time, but if you choose to put in a different brand CO2 capsule in, you'll risk it leaking because it doesn't fit the indent in the seal. The safest way is to bleed the CO2 slowly. This both empties the gas and prevents you from freezing your seal o-rings, potentially causing them to crack and become brittle.

Now that's dedication to one's waifu, I'll say that.

Would be kind of cool to have an M16 with my waifu as a motif on it.

That's pretty neato, but I don't think it could ever replace blank fire; even if it is extremely useless to have blank guns for any purpose other than "muh immersion".

I bought one a few months ago, haven't gamed it yet but it shoots and functions pretty well, being a P38 fan in general I'm a little biased but I'd definitely recommend it. Also, if you should buy one you'll know what I mean when I say watch your fingers on the magazines.

Maryland has goofy realsteel laws. Do they have goofy airshit laws? Does anywhere in N. America have goofy airshit laws? Can I take my airshit to and from Canadia without complications? Are there websites for looking up regional airshit laws so I don't get assraped for taking the wrong airshit overseas?

Idea for CQB Game.

>Everyone uses the new Lancer Craptical M82, yes the .50cal
>CQB field, capture the SMG.
>Somewhere in field, there's an SMG hidden in a suitcase, 2 more with dummy guns in it in the field (Spring revolver and trishot)
>Team that finds SMG, can use it and the game turns into deathmatch.
>All opossing team revives (1 lyfe at beginning, and one lyfe after smg is capped)
>If you were alive, before smg capture, extra life is not transferable.
>Chaos ensured.
>>
>>836772
Not at all, really. Shooting form is nice, but under stress these sorts of things break down. From there it's more about maneuvering and positioning, teamwork, and room clearing. These aren't the things you learn at the range. Certain skills, like safety procedures, target identification, and trigger discipline are all things that transfer over well, but those aren't necessarily gamewinning skills, they're fire control skills that will prevent friendly fire and safe play.

Really, the best skills that transfer over are military skills followed by video game skills. If you can think strategically and work with your team, you're much more likely to succeed than because of how much of a crack-shot you are, even if you can keep cool under pressure ala practical shooting. If you don't know how to create your own path through the environment and work with others, you're not getting far.

I've been training for USPSA competition and I have team fighting experience from games like Dagorhir and SCA, if that counts for anything.

How accurate are these things? I've never used anything other than that $30 POS plastic Wal-Mart M4. What kind of grouping can I expect at what kind of range with a decent airsteel AK?

For the other retrosofters out there, what buttpack is kosher for a Gulf War kit?
I've seen people use the M1956/1961 buttpack, one that looks like the 1967 but lacks the grommets on the flap, and a more square appearing Rothco once with black buckles; I even found some made by LBT.

Speaking of Howas, if I ever got one I'd probably try to make a 1960's-1970's cold war era JGSDF kit with one. From what I can find they essentially used US milsurp and had some domestically made pieces of equipment which were similar to ALICE rigs and M1 helmets.

Most AEGs will be accurate (1' x 1') about 100-120 feet, maximum range of around 175-200.
That is unless you want to spend loads on upgrades

You can upgrade individual pieces; inner barrel, hop-up, pistons, etc
Or you can get a high end P* system that costs around 700-1000 which are just unfair for if you don't feel like actually playing the game.
>>
>>837394
>Muh OP P*s
Never met someone who was just an ass with a P*, in fact most people I know including myself just use them for the durability and fast semi-auto function. The fps adjustment also allows us to use one gun for CQB or field without having to take apart the gun or mess with springs.

That must be nice. People on my field use them to literally lob BBs over structures across the field
>>
>>837374
Fully upgrading an AEG gearbox with decent parts will cost you about 100€. If you only care about accuracy and not the trigger response or fire rate, you don't have to spend nearly as much. High end barrel setups can go way above 100€, but decent ones can be had for less than 50€.

I'd recommend Tippmann if you're ready to spend money on realism. It's relatively simple system to work with and performs well as long as you use an HPA tank with it. The muzzle energy and rate of fire can also be adjusted if you play on different fields. If the hose repulses you, GBBRs are the second best option. The downside is that they require quite intensive care and they aren't all too accurate or consistent. Their mechanism works in more realistic manner though.

>>837432
Maybe your field needs stricter rules regarding joules and full auto.
