good pouch for holding thunder B bangers?
>>
>>809284
Mine work fine here >>809275 although on one of them the strap is shorter than it's supposed to be, so it's a very tight fit over the top. Can just look up any sort of smoke grenade pouch or flashbang pouch. Could go for kydex too, I think the GMR store sells them and there's probably countless other places that do too.
>>
>>809284
If you want cheap, Phantom make a good-enough pouch that will hold a thunder b or a tornado. Hold loads of other stuff too. Since I cut down for indoor season, I'm using them as GP pouches for my dead rag and tornado.

why should I play airsoft over paintball? I don't know which one to pick, but I'm leaning towards paintball because it's more gamey and seems clearer when you've got a hit, but the longer ranges of airsoft are enticing. convince me that it isn't just LARPing and that I should drop some money on some Canadian Tire springer rifle to try it out
>>
>>809446
Paintball is way more competetive and professional.
Airsoft is generally more relaxed and if you want, has some LARP aspects to it. You can also go full tryhard like in paintball, but don't expect everyone to do the same.
>>
>>809451
>You can also go full tryhard like in paintball, but don't expect everyone to do the same.
You've obviously never seen the hardcore speedqb or milsim scenes.
>>
>>809446
>why should I play airsoft over paintball?
Hurts less. Costs less. Better ergonomics on equipment. Much cleaner, so no paint on your special snowflake rare surplus camo. If your local paintball scene is full of assholes, the airsoft scene might be different since it's usually either/or. You can more accurately dress up like a soldier. Better LARPing opportunities. Greater selection of face and eye protection.

Of course, there's the whole honorsport con, and that's a big one. High-stakes competition is basically impossible due to lack of functional accountability. Plus if your local community is shit, you're not going to have a good time (and that goes for both airsoft and paintball), but otherwise, airsoft has quite a few advantages. The whole cost thing was what got me in.

We have like one or two CQB fields in the capitol area which are rarely used and maybe a handful of milsim events per year in the whole country, so no, not really. The main bit of the hobby, weekend skirmishes, are pretty relaxed though. Sure there can be a milsim group doing their own things or overshooting done by speedsofters every now and then, but for the most part no one takes it too seriously.
A friend of mine who's pretty big in the painball scene says airsoft is like therapy for him. He doesn't have to train five times a week, hold strategy meetings or worry about his health. In common weekend skirmishes he can do whatever the fuck he wants on his own pace and no one is going to be blame him for not completing the objective. If he wants to play fast CQB with people who have good teamwork skills, he's going to play paintball and If he wants to shoot things but with lower stress levels, he's going to play airsoft.
pic somewhat related. That's him yesterday.
>>
>>809446
I used to play paintball, still haven't gotten around to selling my stuff.

What drew me to airsoft was
1) Fuck paying $65 for a case of 2000 paintballs
2) Looks and feels more like using a real gun, which is especially nice if like me you have your airsoft AR set up like your real AR
3) Doesn't ruin clothing so I don't look like an idiot with pink stains on my fancy LBT gear
4) {And this is a big one} The size and coordination of milsim games is something that just doesn't exist in paintball.

if you ordered anything from Evike or AirsoftGI in the last week and it says

it's because the UPS center in San Bernardino shut down because they found a package going to the shooters' house

and it's why I haven't received my new plate carrier yet

>>
>>809664
Good luck on buying a fnc or fn200, they're pretty rare here in US.
>>
>>809706
ESS Land Ops. It's what they're made for.
>>
I have been setting up my first plate carrier today and I am running into some concerns. I have a double mag pouch on each of the sides (only place I can put them) and I rest my arms by my sides anymore because of how far they stick out. Is that normal or are the mags too wide?
Second problem is that I can't find a comfortable way to position my gun sling without it getting caught on pouches or being in the way.
Also the only Velcro is on the chest part so I can only use 1 patch.
>>
>>809738
Why can you not have the mag pouches in front? That's where they are meant to go, that's where every plate carrier is designed to have them.

Try a one point sling that you run through your shoulder pads, tends to keep your gun centered and the sling out of the way.
>>
>>809745
There are only 6 inches on the front panel and the pouches require 4 each. It makes the whole thing lopsided if I put one on the front.
>>
>>809754
Which is why basically everybody makes and uses triple mag pouches.
>>
>>809664
My buddy has the G&G fn2000. I would not suggest getting one. Unwieldy piece of shit. very plasticy and the GB is not protected very well.
>>
>>809451
>>809462
should I expect more roleplaying tryhard behaviour out of airsoft, and more gaming tryhard out of paintball? It seems like in airsoft, I'm likelier to get yelled at for not fitting the M I L S I M ~ A E S T H E T I C but won't be bothered about being terrible at the game, while in paintball, I'll get yelled at for sucking shit and being a noob but no one will really care about my gear or style as long as it gets points.

>>809466
gr8 post and quite informative but it raises another question
>High-stakes competition is basically impossible due to lack of functional accountability.
are there tiny paint pellets? I remember hearing about some kind of compacted powder pellet that's supposed to leave marks, but works in airsoft guns.

I don't really care about high stakes, but it does worry me that cheating seems so easy.

>>809482
> Looks and feels more like using a real gun,
This is something I'm drawn to a lot, paintball markers do look dumb as fuck and seemingly are all based on the same pattern.

Thanks m8s, I think I'll go with airsoft and see if I can find any bros to play with. The barrier to entry seems a lot lower and I'm poor as fuck and want something I could also target shoot with by myself, so airsoft seems better suited than paintball for me

Last question, would it be mad horrid to take a low-powered BB gun like a Slavia 618 to a game? I'm talking sub-400fps
>>
>>809599
I'd love to get a PSG-1, but am not keen on the TM one. So the only thing on my list doesn't yet exist.
>>
>>809768

>>
>>809768
>are there tiny paint pellets?
Paint pellets blow up in barrels due to the pressure and gums up the barrel, and when that paint gets sucked back into the cylinder, it gums everything up internally. Powder pellets do the same thing. Cheating is "easy" in that any asshole can shrug hits, but habitual cheaters are easy to catch eventually, and a good community and field staff will deal with it harshly. It's just that if an entire game with a $100k prize money comes down to one called hit, you're going to find quite a bit of problems. When the only thing on the line is worthless bragging rights, folks tend to take things less seriously and are willing to take a loss, because usually when you get hit, you put yourself in a situation where you could get hit, or someone outmaneuvered you through their own skills.

So unless your scene is shitty and cheaters are enabled, don't worry about it. You airsoft for fun, everyone else is doing the same.

>>810138
It's not. G&G still make it. Theoretically, Ares makes one too, but who knows these days. The difference is that Cybergun are shit and the FNC is currently in some sort of licensing limbo. You can still import them though. Standard stock G&Gs don't come with the FN trades so I can't see customs having much of a fit.

According to e-hobby Asia, the 048M uses a "Mini / Handguard (Nickel / Li-Po)" battery. The pastebin doesn't have anything about batteries, and the guides from Airsoft GI is confusing since I don't have the "gun" yet to get an idea of what is going on.

Also, I want a few mid-cap magazines to go with my gun, would a CM-MG-16-C71 be acceptable? I got a few hi-cap mags from a friend, so I want some mid-caps to use every once and awhile.

Same. Right now I only have two mag pouches and two canteens and it feels sparse as fuck. I'm planning on getting a buttpack, an E-tool with the plastic case, a pair of SDWGs, an angle flashlight, and possibly a PASGT for when I'm not doing super duper speshul forces scud hunter.

Cymas shoot hot out the box, they need powerful batteries. The buttstock has plenty of space, pretty much any battery with a mini Tamiya will do. Quite a few people are using LiPo's instead of Nimhs these days, because they simply are better, so read up on those, they need their own balancer chargers. Go lower volts and high mAh, so you don't break your shit. All the ones I would recommend are out of stock on ehobbyasia, so good luck with your search.
Magazines for AK's are very much interchangeable, shouldn't be worries there.
>>
>>810542
The CM048 is an amazing AK for starters. The battery and charger are included so you wouldn't need to buy them. I am running all my AK with a 7.4v LiPo and I've had no problems.
Where are you based? As >>810552 says they shoot too hot (~420FPS) for most European fields; but some AK are picky with mags. I have 3 and not all of them can share the same mags.

>>810548
Apparently it's good up there. I'm not from there but all the videos and events suggest it's cool

Generally pretty good, expect to pay around £20-25 to attend skirmishes if you're not a member of the field. Also be prepared for Top Gear tier humour/sensibilities, this is either a good or bad thing depending on personal taste.

I was in Leeds for uni, went to a few different sites, all fairly good. Northerners are pretty no-nonsense. No complaints from me.

UAE. Airsoft is a very small hobby here compared to R/C shit, around 95% of airsoft players are expats. Laws are very tight regarding airsoft compared to paintball hence the low number of players and interest.
Importing guns is impossible unless ordered through the only verified club in the country, which orders all special requests once a year. Otherwise, I would have to stick to cheap chinese crap usually on stock that even the shopkeeper recommend against.

This is going to sound really dumb but I would like an answer. I bought a knockoff EO TECH and I was wondering if it is good to use. Because according to my understanding the real models work by shooting the beam at the eye but the lens prevents damage to your retinas, will a knockoff work the same way or am I risking fucking up my eyes?
>>
>>810682
It's probably a red dot that only looks like an EO Tech so it doesn't even work the same way.

Go with Cyma midcaps. They're cheap and the performance is topnotch. They feed perfectly even with guns that have riddiculous rate of fire.

>>810552
Newer Cymas should have very high torque and therefor very energy efficient neodymium motors. Unless the gun is shimmed like shit, it shouldn't draw too many amps.

>>810559
Batteries included with chink guns are historically trash if not dangerous. I would stay away from them especially since good quality LiPo-batteries are dirt cheap nowadays. I also wouldn't count all of Europe as one as the rules vary by country and field. Generally the velocity rules in the outdoor fields are around 420FPS for full auto and 500FPS for semi auto. I know that at least Britbongs have bit lower FPS limits but in Berget for an example, machineguns are allowed to shoot 460FPS full auto. Chinks are also notorious for their poor QC as their guns can shoot almost anything between 350 and 450FPS, but usually around 400FPS.

No, most European fields (UK, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal...) are 350 FPS for semi&auto, 400 for support (except some retarded countries like Germany where FA is under ~1J), 450 for dmr and 550 for bolt action.

Paintball is more like "sports", just running around and shooting each other.

Airsoft is more using strategy and stealth generally.

Not saying one takes more skill or is better or whatever, that's just generally how it works. People that play paintball want to rush in and shoot stuff, people that play airsoft want to organize tactics and accomplish objectives and win. (and yes, even the "we play for fun, not to win" airsoft groups focus on winning, they just don't admit it)
>>
>>813472
Have you ever played paintball?

There wouldn't be any way to get an FNC for around 300 in the states short of second-hand. Pretty much every store will sell it to you for 390+ as it were.

About the belt and suspenders, for general airsoft use it's ok, the problem is the belt buckle, too flimsy and can open, also straps everywhere.
I had one of those until I upgraded to an Emerson belt and way better and comfier without breaking the bank.

And for real don't go with a Combat Machine.

It's hard to get a lot of tactical stuff in the UK compared to the US due to a lack of gun culture, so I sort of have to go with what I can get.

As long as it lasts at least one skirmish I'll use it to consider getting a more expensive belt, maybe a Warrior belt or something.

Also there is nothing wrong with the G&G CM and GR lines, they've put solid GR internals inside a decent plastic case for next to fuck all moolah.

I have a medium length G&P 870 that I want to put one on. Doesn't have to be metal, I'd be fine with plastic.

Also, are there any good ways of mounting a laser to one that doesn't involve a top-rail? Like, does anyone make one which fits in place of a magazine-tube extension, under the barrel?

Whats the brightest, cheapest flashlight you can get that'll fit in a regular weapon light mount?

Pressure switch is pretty mandatory too, bonus if it's zoomable or has a strobe mode.

I don't have the tools or knowhow to work metal (though it is indeed a very simple lenght of stamped sheet metal), but I guess it's worth considering prying one off a cheapo gun.

You'd think at least one manufacturer would put out heatshields, even if just cheap plastic ones. I wanted a vertical pumpgrip like Duke Nukem has, and that was easier said than done, G&P makes the part, but they don't send parts out to order.
I finally found one site with shoddy English that had them in stock, arrived with an invoice saying it was "model toy car parts". I mean, the grip was in there, but the fuck was with the invoice?
>>

I've put a tightbore in it, but you'll need to dremel the hop up unit in order to pull out the shitty brass barrel. I've got a JG Blue, ZCI gears, Nukefet, and r-hopped ZCI barrel waiting to be placed in it.

I've done more work on the StG since it's my favorite (same treatment that the MP40 will be getting).

For the Kar98, I suggest finding some boneyard Dboys one and a VSR-10/JG-BAR 10 to cut up and place inside. That's what I've done.

Got a crapload of links I've bookmarked if you want them.

Yeah, my brother's in wools and I'm in HBTs. I'd originally intended to keep it on a budget because of the money and time I'd spent on my paratrooper gear, but that didn't last long. The MG is an AGM, but it wasn't ours - the site owner let us use it for the day because master race and all that. Really nice gun, but heavy with lots of pot metal. I'd be afraid to use it outside of static defence games in case I went arse over tit and broke it in half.

British weapons are sadly lacking (as they were in real life, hohoho). No-one does a decent, affordable Lee-Enfield, and Brens are nonexistent unless you're willing to settle for a 'close enough' Zb.26. AGM do a really nice Sten which, despite looking like a mangled robot cock, handles beautifully. I actually had my Sten mocked up to look like an Arnhem era Mk.IV (picture is related).
>>
>>816410
That's stupid.
Just wait to get lost at night on a 16km2 forest and see if radios are essential or not.
Or lose part of your squad and then pray to meet at HQ again.
>>
>>816416
>Brens are nonexistent unless you're willing to settle for a 'close enough' Zb.26
Basically the same thing, just different cartridge and magazines

Now, I know way more about 'real steel' than airsoft, but given that everything (that matters) shoots the same 6mm plastic pellets, could one not make a .303 looking curved 30rd mag for the Zb.26 so that it looks like a BREN?

The vest is for insulation and the fact that I'm lugging around a 25 pound gun.

>>
>>816905
Personally I think it looks better with the vest
>>
>>816907
>>816906
I second both of these
>>
>>816906
PKM is a Matrix brand PKM I got during a pre-black friday sale for 299
Its nice and accurate with 6 inch groupings at 160 feet (Based on audio feedback from shooting a 1.75l glass vodka bottle), hop up isn't that hard to get to and you get used to the specific way you need to shoulder it if you're not bracing it. Only issue with the Matrix PKMs is that the fire contacts can stick occasionally, but thats fixed by depressing and letting go of the trigger again.
Battery goes in the ammo box. I use a fuckhuge 5000mAh 9.6v battery and I just place it in the main chamber. In total the box should hold about 5000 rounds but with the battery its more like 4200-4500. Reloading is easy though as you can pour bbs into the box via the flap where the real one would be feeding rounds through.
Helmet is a replica that's a bit shorter than standard ones but I prefer it seeing that I can hear better and any sorts of vests don't interfere with it.

I've had bad experiences with Marushin GBBs.

It was an M1 Carbine (with a 30rd M2 mag, M2 markings, a round M2 bolt carrier, and a fake M2 fire selector that was connected to nothing).

Now, it felt great, awesome balance, just the perfect length and weight, nice length of pull, awesome feel when shooting and racking the bolt, nice wood, but:

>magazine release fell out, can only be kept in place with the magazine inserted
>rear sight began drifting, windage is loose
>would occasionally slamfire the last few rounds in the magazine
>magazine seals broke, spare mags virtually non-existent, I only ever had my one mag, no more mag, no more gun
>barrel (and also the front sight), began canting freely, there isn't anything stopping the barrel from rotating

For the time it held together, it was amazing, but I don't wanna go down the Marushin GBB road again.

I have no idea where this ICS hate comes from, I've had nothing but solid decently firing guns from them for the last 5 years.
>>
>>818762
Dude, trust me. I've ordered ICS external parts before. The plastic is creaky and the metals are thin. You'd get more out of CYMA or G&G MP5s due to the standard V2 gearboxes.
>>
>>818762
>The externals are fine.
Compared to what? Even my Dboys M4 beats the shit out of my ICS MP5's externals. As does my Cyma AK, and my G&P M4 (Obviously).
>>
>>818770
>>818768
Not sure what the hell ICS you guys are getting. Maybe they changed stuff over the years.

ICS MP5s have always received pretty strong reviews and the one I've had for five years has been solid. Are you guys talking about their shitty sportline range or their actual range?
>>
>>818773
>Well yeah, the MX series is shit, but the old ones were great!
>W-well maybe you got a sportline!
You're backpedaling faster than a speedsofter's P* spits BBs. ICS have a long history of meh guns, particularly their MP5s. In fact, G&G, CYMA (which clones the G&G), and VFC all handily stand over ICS MP5s. I'm glad your gun works just fine, that's just not the case for everyone else.
>>
>>818781
You're pulling stats out your ass. ICS have always been fine. CYMA are 100% garbage chinky lemon shit and I wouldn't even give them the time of day let alone 100 britbongs of my hard earned dosh.

>>
>>818788
CYMAs come with a JG blue, steel beveled gears, and better externals plastic than ICS could ever hope for. They're also impeccably balanced and accept all V2 style upgrades and G&G external parts compatibility in case you lose that charging handle. Body might be pot metal, but it's a thick pot metal that won't be cracking on you any time soon. Finally, CYMA MP5 midcaps are the best on the market for the price: steel with stiff springs.

Don't know what you're on about, m8. CYMA MP5s are much better than ICS for the money when you replace the cylinder assembly with the money you save buying a CYMA.

That's a Naval Luger if we're going to really get into WWII airsoft autism. Arty Lugers have a barrel of almost 8 inches and have a tangent rear sight.

Well aware of that when I got it. The store I was at didn't have an Arty Luger for me to impulse buy.

Anyway, stay away from the WE Lugers. They have potmetal parts inside that may or may not break on you right away. The one I have somehow has lasted for quite a while, but I had two before this one that suffered the same issues (both of them Arty versions). The KWC Luger will be better, but no round drum action sadly.

This is the sad reality we WW2 airsofters have to deal with. They have never changed the Luger shitty internals for so long. AGM is also the best alternative when it comes to the MP40, StG, and MG42. S&T claims the best Springfield because G&G has put out way too many lemons to risk it. Those fucks need to redeem themselves with a G43, but they decided that people would take out a loan on their $2000 MG42.
>>
>>819968
Why stop at a G&G G43? Why not have some company like King Arms or Marushin make one.

>Gas G43
Just imagine.

As for WE not changing their flawed designs, I feel you. I own a WE M14 and they haven't changed their flawed trigger box and it's been like three fucking years since the rifle has been released and the problem is very well known and established as an inevitable failure point in the WE M14. I'm currently on my second OEM trigger box since I can't justify spending $200 on a bbgat part with my current financial status.
They only recently started making reinforced steel parts for their AKs.
I hear the P90 is having its share of issues too. Damn shame since I've wanted one of those since the clear prototype was teased all those years ago.

I'm an AEG kind of guy, so a G43 an FG42 in AEG form is something I need. I'd lock the 43 in semi though. Any company for me is fine at this time, just as long as I can replace almost all the internals with aftermarket ones. Pistols are a different story of course.

>>819977
Exactly this. They shouldn't have even bothered.
>>
>>819979
I guess you could drop a V7 gearbox and 3D print a receiver (I actually think someone did that) if you REALLY wanted a G43.
An FG would be harder to do and would probably have to find a way to fit a Sten gearbox into a Shoei replica with some sort of modified M14 magazines stuck into the 8mm magazines.

https://vintageairsoft.wordpress.com/category/weapons/battle-rifles/g43k43/

I've looked up airsoft G43s and apart from some Italian person, there's this person who's been developing one and an MP28 as well. I'll see the finishing results before I pull the trigger on either.

An FG42 was also made, but with a modified gearbox

>>
>>820051
Having a bad first experience is not uncommon, as people trying it out for the first time will almost always go to popular (crowded) places and/or ave worse stuf (that could lead to frustration vs more experienced and well equiped players).
On my first game I went to a popular field, it was shit, the org was shit, a sniper broke my lip and my glasses fogged up like crazy all the time.
When the game finished, I went to the nearest airsoft store from home and bought a replica.
>>
>>820065
My gun isn't really shit at all. It's a g&g M4 I picked up on sale, I did manage to shoot a few people. However I realized that shouldering the gun was impractical due to the goggles and face mask, and I could not see the BBs fly because I didnt have a flashlight on the rails, the arena was pretty dark. No snipers thankfully, not that one would be useful anyway in that situation. You couldnt peek your head out anywhere without getting shot.

Talked to my friend and he said that he goes during the week, which thankfully they play games after my 9-5, and that when its less crowded (IE not stuffing nearly 100 people on a field suited for 20-30 at MOST, even then I feel like itd be crowded) theres much more to do.

Also he said he wants to do this for now since hes not gud enough to go play on the outdoor fields in the area, which there are several around here

I would prefer that myself. I feel like the indoor arena is going to suck regardless of what I try. I'm new to this sport and I decided to be a support gunner, so I'm trying to decide which gun to get.
I want something that is definitely not a M249.

I really like the M60 and M240B, but a lot of M60s around right now are kind of shitty. Echo1 makes an M240B for around $750 and I've heard very good things about it.

You guys have any other suggestions? I want something with a lot of capacity, around 4000 rounds and something a little higher end.
At least $500 or so.

>>
>>820566
Support gunners are cool as fuck and there's usually only 1-2 at my field.
I'd suggest RPK or PKM, but I don't know who makes the best LMGs.
And check with your field about LMG requirements. Most require a bipod and some allow higher FPS than normal infantry weapons. (450 FPS for support at my field)
>>
>>818053
Depends on the gun, but yeah, I generally am not fond of quad-rails, unsightly and heavy (thank fuck for KeyMod), that said, I think a lone top-rail is entirely reasonable for any rifle, carbine, subgun or shotgun.

Like an 870 with plastic furniture looks pedestrian, but put a rail on the top of the reciever and maybe colour the furniture OD green, and I think that can look pretty sharp.

I prefer regular handguards, or plain ones without rails.
>>
>>820566
A&K M60 is not that shitty, in my opinion. Pretty solid performance out of the box, heavy as shit, and you get to quote "Full Metal Jacket" and laugh at people who say you can't carry an 8kg gun all the time.
