Thors realized that waging war to bring peace is self-defeating and simply opted out. He was able to live a peaceful life until his past caught up with him. I'm somewhat disappointed that the standoff ended somewhat predictably, in a way that reminded me of shonen shit. I guess this story is really trying to push the whole redemption shit, but it just seems so heavy handed and out of place. Really consider dropping the manga at this point, if all of the conflict will be resolved due to the same kind of predictable bullshit we saw this chapter.

I really agree that Thors is a loser, he fought with too much compassion. It actually pisses me off the way he looked down on fighting and the people he fought with. He was too selfish, he held his own bullshit morals above anything else. He bought a slave with two feet in the grave at an extravagant price, which could have easily ruined his family. Even when ambushed by Askeladd and his gang, he didn't even fight back with lethal force, which endangered people that more or less rely on him to protect them, including his own son.

Canut isn't a hypocrite. You can't just hug everyone and get your feelings to touch their feelings to make a utopian society in an era where everything is decided by war. I mean, you can, since this is fiction, and the author can do whatever the fuck he wants, but, realistically, it doesn't work that way. Comparing Thors to Canut is laughable. One of them didn't do anything to truly improve the world, and let his own morals be his death. The other is actively trying to make the world a better place, even at the cost of dirtying his own hands. That isn't hypocrisy, that's sacrifice.
