/hbg/ Wiki: http://homebrew-general.wikia.com
3DS: 9.2 (10.3 for userland / downgrade, eShop is x.x.x-28 only)
Wii U: 5.5 (Upcoming IOSU exploit)
Vita: 3.51 (Userland)
PS4: 1.76 (Webkit)
N3DS emuNAND can't be updated past 9.5
O3DS emuNAND can update all the way to 10.3
DOWNGRADING: http://pastebin.com/ZfA8wtA2 • http://pastebin.com/EBKipkPW • http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
-10.4 NOT TODAY
-Browser/Menuhax both work on the latest firmware again! DON'T DELAY in getting Homebrew.
-memchunkhax2 is a kernel11 exploit that allows downgrading to 9.2, and works with every firmware including 10.3.
-Rei and the rxTools team are both developing emuNAND 10.3 for New 3DS
-Smea started working on hax 3.0
>Is downgrading safe?
Safe as it gets for now. Most bricks seem to be people using the wrong firmware. Be sure you understand the process.
-A libkhax variant of mch2 sysUpdater compiled by julian20 implements the safest settings so far.
-Getting the downgrader to even start can require many tries. Opening and closing an FTP app supposedly helps.
-Blank screen can be caused by Menuhax. Try pulling your SD card if you get it. Boot, reinsert, change theme.
-System update 5.5.1 is out.
-Hykem is being weird.
-Cobra Black Fin was announced. http://wololo.net/2015/12/07/cobra-black-fin-an-upcoming-dongle-to-play-ps-vita-isos/
-A Vita update got released, you might not want to update since it fixes the email exploit.
Finished doing everything to my 3DS, tried running MHX but it says to turn the power off and try again.
Is this an error on my half of a .cia issue? I loaded in the game through health and safety and then the icon appeared in a present box, I opened it and it shows the 3DS screen but then goes black for 30 seconds before showing the error screen
It's not. It means I can't bully 10.4fags yet.
If i install a Legit CIA via the new method (no CFW Legit CIA only) Could nintendo ban me/find out?
I'm on N3DS so it doesn't even effect me one way or another but for some reason it not even being out for people to test yet is making me anxious. Also, I lent out my O3DSXL to my idiot brother so as long as he doesn't fuck with the DNS it should be safe but like I said, he's an idiot.
But if I change the theme on sysNAND it will fuck my menuhax, no?
What happens if I change it on unlinked emuNAND? rxTools also uses menuhax on emuNAND to trigger the menu, right?
So how do I custom themes without fucking shit up?
Hi, I'm trying to install BigBlueMenu.cia, however I get the following error: "Install failed! Could not install aPP. Description: Database does not exist (0x2b)"
What does this mean and how can I fix it?
What music are you listening to while you're doing your homebrew/piracy shit, /hbg/? This is what I'm playing right now.
I haven't been up to the news about this whole thing for a while but still this may seem like a pretty stupid question for you; i've seen there are some cias labeled as "legit" on mega3dsroms, is there anything special about this cias?
GUESS WHAT, 5.4/5.5 USERLAND EXPLOIT DOESN'T WORK
>majority of the custom themes are disgusting
>look up how to make one
>"First, you need to install these 4 programs:"
Fuck it, too lazy to do all that, I'll just stick with my Earthbound one until some good themes are made.
title = "rxTools";
path = "/rxTools/sys/code.bin";
offset = "0x0";
thanks in advance
glad you like it, I'll probably make more once I get autoboot setup
I went and grabbed a bunch of lewd themes with and zipped them up for you guys. 20 in total with backgroud songs. Some are lewder than others tame ones in the preview.
They look like that when unpacked. I haven't used howling yet so I'm not sure.
Sorry to ask this noobish question but which files to i need to put on the sd card?
cuz i see a .nds file and also a launcher.dat (and i already have a file named that from abck when i had to use the gateway launcher)
You can change it on your emunand just fine. Menuhax is only on sysnand. As for rethemeing sysnand I believe menuhax manager has an option for changing the theme without breaking menuhax. I've got coldboot so I never see my sysnand anymore anyway.
It's browserhax. Just on Wii U instead of 3DS. Once someone builds a Homebrew Launcher we can then have kickass Wii U homebrew.
And then when the kernel is released we'll have kickass piracy and 5.5.1 WHEN?'s.
Does anyone else have the problem with their 3ds/n3ds where a pixel looks dead looking at an angel, but fine when staring at it, straight? I have a pixel on the top and bottom screen that does that.
Downgraded with no problems
After that I want to run hbl with the browser slider hax
And I'm getting this
In that case, out of curiosity, what does rxtools use on emuNAND to trigger the menu (when booting rxtools from bootmanager while holding L)? I always thought it was also menuhax, only installed within emunand and launching rxtools menu instead of HBL.
Well, things seem to have gotten markedly worse. It got to the point where I had to reformat the microSD and start from scratch. Since I still have the 2GB hidden partition on the card, I should be fine to start partway through
with my original backup, right?
So is updating rxtools to the newest version just going to be replacing the folders on my sdcard? I want to know so I can do system transfers and finally break away from my O3DS.
I watch movies that I
>put starter on root
>go to install browserhax with sliderhax because im on 9.2
>AN ERROR HAS OCCURED
AN ERROR HAS OCCURED
>AN ERROR HAS OCCURED
AN ERROR HAS OCCURED
>AN ERROR HAS OCCURED
AN ERROR HAS OCCURED
>AN ERROR HAS OCCURED
AN ERROR HAS OCCURED
yes im initializing EACH TIME
I want to start over on a bigger SD card. My old SD card has way too much shit that I don't want to try to salvage or sort, so I don't want to transfer everything over. How do I do this?
Menuhax works by fucking with the theme settings on the sysnand. When you boot it gets hijacked and then tries to load boot.3dsx (root of sd). Boot.3dsx comes in many flavors.
ctrbootmanager - It's like grub if you have ever used linux. Gives you a few options of what to boot. rxTools, homebrewlauncher or any other homebrew.
rxTools - You can boot rxTools .3dsx file and get straight to it or boot it with ctr. I like doing it with ctr in case I need to use homebrew.
I'm sure most of the other cfw (cakes, reinand) would work the same as rxTools but I haven't tested it.
Man, this is taking forever.
And the game isn't even big.
>spend an hour redoing the steps to setup autoboot
>after an hour realize I installed menuhax on EMUNAND not SYSNAND
holy shit Ishygddt
I set up a new sd card with emunand9. But it's pretty empty now and menuhax got uninstalled in the process and i also had a digital game on the old one.
Left is old card backup, right is new card.
Where do i put my homebrew starter pack now, into the emunand9 directory? And what do i have to copy to get my preinstalled game back?
I need to clean up from a previous install but don't want to lose my eshop purchases and shit.
What's the bare minimum of folders I need to keep before I start putting menuhax and stuff back on the sd?
Will try to update again
Last time it bricked my emuNAND
But back then my nands were linked and I might still had menuhax installed in emuNAND
Both is fixed now
This should work now, right?
BTW its a EU N3DS
Theoretically, would it be possible to make a plug-in for NTR that loads Amiibos on it and when you select one and close the menu the game acts like you scanned it?
I know we have the Amiiqo or whatever it is but I'm curious
Testing out DLC installing.
>You have now installed the game. If you want to install updates/dlc, you do it the exact same way except you use the update.cia/dlc.cia file instead of the game.cia file.
Is this saying I should call the file "dlc.cia"?
Yeah, I get that.
But what I'm saying is, when you boot rxTools from CRT, you have an option to boot it straight and it takes you to emuNAND Homescreen, or you can boot it while holding L, in which case it takes you to rxTools setup menu.
What I wonder is, what triggers getting into rxTools menu when booting rxTools from CRT while holding L if not menuhax that's installed in emuNAND itself.
Is there a trick to searching on 3dsiso? I swear the search function just does flat out not work. Everything I've found so far has pretty much just been luck
No. It's drastically overcomplicating things. just install the correct CIA.
If i didn't backup my SD before i formatted my emuNAND in emuNAND9, am I fucked?
following this https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-setting-up-9-0-9-2-n3ds-xl-for-rxtools-cfw-including-emunand-coldboot-cia-manager.405589/
10.4 is happening. In the near future.
Probably releases on the same day as KTM and gateway downgrader, so probably soon™
and put the dbs folder in this directory:
Lastly, boot up your 3DS/2DS and go into Settings —> Data Management —> Software. It’ll ask to reset or repair your software management information or sd card, so allow it to do so.
4chan tech service please help me. I've downloaded the Smash DLC, .cia edition, from that brazilian website for my physical copy. I installed the DLCs correctly after updating my Smash through the eShop, however it doesn't work. Do I have to update using a .cia?
Damn. So Close.
So I'm working on installing CFW right? I got it booting into ctrbootmanager on startup, but now I can no longer get CFW to start up automatically.
It boots into ctr, goes to cake, then it boots back into CTR and tries to boot into Cake, but then it freezes when it tries to boot up with a black screen on top and a red box on the bottom.
Any idea what's up?
I've installed rxTools, downgraded, all that jazz. Everything works great.
But, how can I access the eshop or get game updates? For example, I tested out the mod with a Mario Kart 7 cia, It runs, but asks to update, and the update fails. I can't access eshop either, which I assume is tied to that. I don't really do anything with the eshop, but I would like to play some For Glory with my actual copy of Smash3DS sometime.
So I have EmuNAND on RXE 10.3
SysNAND on 9.2
FBI is working
BigBlueMenu is installed
BootManager is working
Homebrew launcher is working
All my custom themes are set.
Am I good to download some video games now?
What could cause an update from 9.2 to 9.5 on an EU emuNAND N3DS to fail?
I downgraded and now I can't boot up browserhax to get into homebrew. I did the error fix that claims menuhax is broken and changed the boot.3dsx into bkup.3dsx and I still can't open it up. Am I doing something wrong or should I keep trying?
It's just something thats built into the rxTools file. Has nothing to do with menuhax. There is no reason to install menuhax on emunand. I can get into that menu you are talking about without it.
Is it safe or even possible to update only Splatoon without updating to 5.5.1 and playing it online (blocking system updates with the tubehax dns)?
>install MHX update 1.1 + V9 english patch cia
>says its V7
what am I doing wrong?
Have MHX installed via cia
install the update + eng patch via cia
still the eng v7 patch though
Yes, I have used Emunand9 multiple times on two different 3DS to backup sysNAND and emuNAND. I think it's better because then you never have Gateway on the system at all. And it's open source so it's fixable if you get an error restoring backup somehow.
Any help m8s?
I'm on an EU O3DS, got everything set up and installed the newest FBI. Problem, i'm trying to play this
EU/RF .cia of SMT IV but it's only returning an error telling me to turn off the console when I try to play it. Please advise.
>try to move a .cia to sd card
>sd crash unless the game is very small.
Should I buy another SD?
Can I move all of my SD card's content to a new one or do I have to re-do some steps of the guide?
Nah I'm sure I took the right cias
It was even the right amount of files like some guide stated
However, I heard 'somewhere' that you need to delete something first
Meh, I'll try it first before asking again
Is TinyFormat supposed to give me an option to format one or the other? Either way I went ahead and did it and it shot me back to the 3DS setup. So I'm assuming I installed it on sysnand. Am I supposed to instal it on emunand, and if so how do I go about doing that?
I've just been followin the pastebin
Well what do you suggest then? I'm just in this for shits and kicks, desu
Really? is installing the new rxtools going to be as easy as replacing the folders on my card? I want to do a system transfer from my O3DS to my N3DS, but I can't be assed to setup cfw. This would be a good reason.
Finished the process, using rxtools and mostly everything works. Is there a way for me to get my old games that I bought from the eshop back? I'm assuming all of my saved data is gone too even though I backed up my SD card and put all the data back on the card once I was done formatting multiple times. Is the save data still hidden away on my card?
Saying that saying that something is a meme is a meme. Stop this meme, please. "just download le nighlty ;)" is just a meme, you can't say this is true. Suggesting to download the nightly is dumb. It's a nightly. It's not supposed to be stable. If you want to use a nightly it's to test it and report bugs until there's a stable release. It's either rxTools 2.6 or Cakes. Maybe Reinand, but I don't know what that offers.
hello anons... need help with savedatafiler
I played the shit out of resi mercenaries 3d and want to switch my savegame from eur card to my cia version.
What do I have to select in SaveDataFiler if I want to extract the savefile from a gamecard?
My guess would be CTR Card is this right?
Getting "Failed to load NATIVE_FIRM: 4. Reboot rxTools and try again." error on rxTools when I try to boot into either sysNAND or emuNAND. What have I done wrong?
Download Minitool Partition Wizard
Run and go to the SD card
Wipe and delete both the unallocated and the used partition
Create partition by right clicking
Change logical to primary
Change filesystem to FAT32
So if I'm on 9.2, will the browser bitch at me and not work if it detects there's a firmware update? I know it does on some firmwares.
I don't have your answer, but I want this to be true. I would also like if retroarch could display something different on the touch display than an entire log of what's happening in the background.
how safe is my emuNAND for online gaming? Most games ask for Spotpass functionality, and I'd like to play Mario Kart 7 online with friends, or trade Pokemon, or play Smash. If I do any of these while in emuNAND, will Nintendo find out and ban me?
Alternatively, is my sysNAND safe for online gaming now that I have an emuNAND? I have a legitimate copy of smash and most of the DLC,
What the hell, i installed emunand, rxtools and etc correctly and now i cant find my monster hunter and fantasy life
which i bought legally, those games suddenly dissapeared but they are still on my sd card. What to do?
I fixed it by hex editing the ropbin file. By default the cia version of homebrew launcher looks for boot.bin and this can't be changed via hex editing for some reason. So I left the normal hbl boot.3dsx as is and renamed the ctr one to grub.3dsx (name has to be same length when you hex edit). Next I opened the ropbin in my hex editor and searched for the boot.3dsx string. Replaced it with grub.3dsx and I was good to go.
>no all this work
>get n3DS downgraded
>then upgraded again because (10.3 installer meme)
>Unlink me NANDs
>RXtools omega doesn't work
>get everything right
>try to install SK2
>game requires 2,000,000+
>You have 1,600,000
Seriously, on 8 gig SD and I cant even install 1 game because I'm supposed to have the .cia AND the same amount of space to install it.
You are using the wrong boot.3dsx. The guides are very vague about this. Rename your current boot.3dsx to brew.3dsx and then download this and put the boot.3dsx in the rar into the root of your SD
Conductor, we have a problem
I tried to set up EmuNAND with EmuNAND9 but failed. It took 2gb from my SD card
And then i tried Gateway, which also took 2gb.
How do i unfuck 2gb, which EmuNAND9 had taken from me?
You don't have to use the absolute latest nightly.
I used the 15-12-05 build because it was recommended by someone with a good guide on gbatemp, and everything was fine.
But using a nightly compiled by a random on 4chan is probably dumb, yeah
What do I do when I want to switch to a bigger SD card. The guide told me it wasn't as simple as copying the data and switching (without telling me the exact procedure).
What do I do? I already have CFW.
Still struggling to get CFW to boot now.
I ran tinyformat and reinstalled menuhax to sysnand (I think) but I still can't get it to go in.
It shoots me back to CTRBootManager when I try to book Cake, and when I try to boot cake after being sent back to CTR, it just locks up.
What do I need to try now?
just booted into my emuNAND through cakes, and just made my folder designating my emuNAND, and about to install bigblue and hblauncher through cias using FBI.
Will I have to do the minipasta step again to install them? (Homebrew>Minipasta>Homebrew>FBI) or because i am on the emunand, i don't need to use minipasta
Will i always have to use cakes in order to boot into my emuNAND? i noticed an option for autoboot in the configuration.
It definitely is, it's open source. Some guy on GBAtemp did it on their own
to pretend they developed it or something, but whatever, thing is they didn't have enough knowledge to actually do something like that and managed to change the pic that way
And yet some actually suggest to use it in place of decrypt9. And even then, people might not know, and think all these features being there are good and so they never try decrypt9 out.
https://mega.nz/#F!OMlTlKxR!0CCLQRtl7A8vU6M2jRypHw I think
Oh shit. Im the one who asked you yesterdayé
Thank you anon you're the best.
i have cia files, and am using the super card dstwo plus.
I can get into gateway mode, but how do i install the game files so that it will read them?
Do i have to load the cias onto my sd card? or can i use the micro sd that is in the supercard?
Googling didn't help me at all.
>What do I do when I want to switch to a bigger SD card. The guide told me it wasn't as simple as copying the data and switching (without telling me the exact procedure).
>What do I do? I already have CFW.
Just download Emunand Tool (Windows) or Emunand Tool Max (Linux and Mac) and backup from original sd card and restore on the new one. Make sure to "format emunand" on the new one first, though.
I got SaveDataFiler and I used 3DSDB to find my Devil Survivor save
That's great, but how do I find/salvage my old save from the depths of my SD card backup from my original SysNAND?
I just went into the giberish folders until I hit the title folder with 10GB+ in it, and I think that's the one. How do I get the save onto SDF?
>And yet some actually suggest to use it in place of decrypt9. And even then, people might not know, and think all these features being there are good and so they never try decrypt9 out.
I used rxTools to generate xorpads to convert 3ds to cia. And it worked.
What is the problem of people with using rxtools ?
So let me get this straight.
If i remove my microSD card from my CFW 3DS, my 3DS should be a normal one, right?
Just a normal 3DS on 9.2 firmware.
Since everything was installed on the SD Card. The only thing that was installed on the 3DS itself was the 9.2 downgrade files.
Is that correct?
Did you guys hear about this yet?
That's what most people do. It's also what's written in my guide.
Basically emuNAND is just a safety net. It doesn't exist because it's necessary. If you fucked up your emuNAND installing something bad you could just restore from backup or make a new one. To get that same privilege with sysNAND you would need a hardware mod.
Also, if you've got coldboot with menuhax setup, emuNAND might as well be your sysNAND as far as convenience.
I would say yes in general but I would never do it the second a new firmware comes out. The N3DS situation kind of set a precedent for updating emuNAND not being totally safe. If they did something similar to the O3DS then your emuNAND could brick upon updating.
They're just games that came in bundles. Signed by Nintendo so they can be installed without signature checking being disabled. Don't overthink it.
Mostly Death Grips recently.
The questions is: will he actually release it? He's been good to us, but he seems to always be holding the good stuff back, and he isn't one to want credit for doing something first either.
>selling your precious collection
I mostly bought digital games, but downgrading my main 3DS made me start to want buying physical games for my collection while I continue to play digital master race.
Speaking of this, that Ryan guy on Twitter was saying something about how you shouldn't use tubehax dns to block. Then he said some of Nintendo's update servers changed. Can anyone here using tubehax dns check if they were updated to 5.5.1?
What game are you trying to run? O3DS or N3DS? What region are you in? What does the error say?
Up until that last step you're right on.
I think part of the reason why the guides are so confusing for some is that it doesn't explain the reason why you are doing the steps. After I figured out how the boot process on the 3ds works everything made sense and was easy to fix when I fucked up.
I have a Japanese O3DS, linked NANDs, with an unpatched copy of Fire Emblem Fates installed to EmuNAND. Using rxtools through browserhax, I have FBI installed over Health and Safety. No DLC installed. I'm looking to switch over to the translation patch with DLC without losing my save data. What's the best way to go about this?
I’m planning on buying a new 3DS. I already have a working set up on my O3DS and I was wondering if there could be way to migrate my cias and shit, without having to reinstall them. Would system transfer from emuNAND to emuNAND work? I understand that an emuNAND restore wouldn’t work.
Why would you go through that instead of using Emunand Tool(s Max)?
Yeah, it worked for me too. But then I tried decrypt9, and it's much better. Not to say, some of the nightlies actually had problems that could brick your 3DS, and that's to be expected.
>Since everything was installed on the SD Card.
If that's what you did, then yes. If, however, you ran FBI in sysnand to install stuff, like a legit .cia, gba games, downgrade mset, update nver or whatever else you might do with it, then no.
Does anyone know how they did it?
>ryanrocks, aka the guy that made Nintendo forcing people to update their WiiU to play online
Yeah, that's something I'd expect.
Can i delete everything in this folder? Cause my licensed games are here, but i cant see them in emu/sysnand
Deleting Cookies and History worked. Currently
11) Move the NAND.bin you just made from the SD card to your PC. Keep it safe.
12) Make a copy of your ENTIRE SD CARD on your PC. This is important as the next step will format the sd card.
When they say move the NAND.bin it's the EMUNAND9.bin right? And when I'm putting the backup onto my SD card again the emunand9.bin will go with it right? The "keep it safe" is confusing me.
I'm making a JSR: Future theme, which song should I pick as bgm?
inb4 EETS. UR. THIRTHIETH. BIRFDAY
Hey /hbg/ l just wanna thank each and everyone of you that helped these past 5 days!! l couldnt have made it without your help, fgts <3
Browserhax isn't really installed, it's just ran. To answer you, though, neither. If you meant menuhax, you only want it on your sysNAND.
time to beg Yellows8 for a better browserhax on 9.2
god that's hideous.. you know you can just run 'java -jar socketpunch.jar iphere filenamehere' from a CLI, right? (assuming Java is properly in your $PATH)
What's wrong with it? I haven't had any issues. Also, I made an alias for it so I can just type 'sock 192.168.x.x filename.cia' from anywhere. Very convenient.
I've heard mixed things and I don't own any physical games new enough to require above 9.5. Try it and see, I guess. If you're getting a .cia it has to be cryptofixed, but there might be some sort of workaround for a cart.
Did you run the .cia version via Pasta?
sounds like you have menuhax on both NANDs
hold the key to prevent menuhax from boot after it initially boots cakes, then when you make it to emuNAND, change your theme
Did you use TinyFormat to unlink?
What makes you think miniPasta is booting you into rxTools?
No, you need to be on latest firmware to update games.
Sounds like a ton of people just figured it out all at once, so I imagine we'll see a race similar to the memchunkhax2 downgrade tool race.
My FAQ answers the SD card question: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
That's fine if you have CFW.
read FAQ: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
Yeah it should automatically use the same save data. There's no reason to do that, though. Don't fall for the legit meme.
I'm not sure what you did wrong but no part of this process should have caused you to lose your data. The closest you come is when you unlink, and even then it's all safe on emuNAND.
>and everything is working
if you say so
So I wanted to transfer all my shit to a 32gb sd card. I followed this guide to the end but now for some reason my 32 gb sd can only 2.79gb?
What the fuck is going on?
Anyone have a babby guide for adding cfw? I've seen a gbatemp guide floating about but can't find it
I'm trying to play these jap games already fuck waiting for bravely second any longer what do I do now
Can't believe downgrading still worked, and I was panicking over nothing...
i want to unlink the nands, so i enter minipasta, and then it sends me to the main menu or directly to the homebrew while pressing L, but i don't have any idea if I'm in emu or sys, because there's no difference.
the guide says "Don't run it in emuNAND". how do i make sure?
In YATA+, there's options under Theme Settings you can play around with
The preview feature is broken and doesn't show what they look like properly, unless an update came out. It's been a while since I've used the thing
I didn't make the pack for me. People were wanting lewd themes in the previous thread so I packaged some up. I don't blame you for hating me but I will always love you senpai.
i'm trying to install bigblue and hblauncher cias on my cfw but when i start up FBI, all i get is a (loading file list) and just hangs there
do i have to use minipasta before using fbi like before?
>The guide didn't mention any resizing.
can you not read at all or what?
I have noticed some people giving wrong information. I'm relieved to hear it's just bullies and not retards.
No, but if you're on an N3DS the Retroarch cores are almost as good, and they're obviously much easier to setup.
Legit titles are games that came in bundles and are signed by Nintendo. These can be installed without CFW. That's all it means. There's like 100 or so. You don't have to care at all. Just don't even bother.
>That breaks the cia version of hbl.
No, it doesn't. The default ctrbootmanager config even works if you rename the old boot.3dsx to boot_hb.3dsx. I've setup Cakes on quite a few systems now and never ran into hblauncher_loader.cia having issues with ctrbootmanager.
>emuNAND safety question
You're 100% safe, it shows up as a real 3DS to everything.
>sysNAND safety question
You shouldn't use sysNAND anymore after you've setup emuNAND. You're supposed to wipe it and do everything in emuNAND. That's what the end goal of every guide is.
Your console ID changed. Did you system format? If you just unlinked then they should show up in your emuNAND.
>The guides are very vague about this.
You can install over the network with FBI and socketpunch.
There are a couple edge cases that no one's got working in emuNAND alone yet, such as injected GBA games. You have to install them to both to play them in emuNAND, or you can just play them in sysNAND.
Yes. Illegitimate .cia files are the majority. Just means you need CFW to install it. Once it's installed it may as well be legit.
As someone with all four models of 3DS, I've definitely noticed the XLs of each type have way worse build quality. I guess it's probably related to making something bigger for not much more money.
Hi, i'm >>128344301. I didn't use that software, but I unlinked as the absolute retard's guide in OP's 3DS guide link said. SysNAND is on 9.2, EmuNAND is on 10.3. They show no sign of being linked.
These are all greyed out and checking boxes doesn't do anything. I'm using 1.6.1 so maybe that's why? Unless you know of a way to get the colour data
This one was complicated for me to understand
Maybe it's because everything is clustered together or maybe it's because it's on pastebin...point is even the retard guide was difficult for me to understand
Well also skeptical about it since it asks you to run some .bat exe
On N3DS, I run sysUpdater, but it keeps saying "Failed to get CIA files" when I try it. The guide says it's because I didn't put the "updates" folder in the root of the sd card with a ton of .cia files, but it's already there.
Do I just keep going until it works or did I do something wrong?
go to system settings. if it says 'ver.' before the version number you're curently in sysnand. if it says 'rx-e' for rxtools or whatever cakes is using, you're in emunand
>As someone with all four models of 3DS, I've definitely noticed the XLs of each type have way worse build quality. I guess it's probably related to making something bigger for not much more money.
To be honest I'm pretty sure I didn't push the bottom case far enough when re-screwing the fucking thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the case considering there are no snap points near the headphone jack or power button.
Worst case scenario, some tape will always fix this kind of shit, otherwise the damn thing looks and feels like holding the fucking holy grail in your hands.
By the way, currently in Japan, anyone in need of some .cia's that you can't find on most sites?
>Why would you go through that instead of using Emunand Tool(s Max)?
Not him, but the one time I switched SD cards I used dd to do it, and my method was basically the same as what he linked aside from program used. It's kind of sorta easier. It's basically the universal solution to the problem as opposed to the 3DS scene solution. At the time I also didn't know the Max version of Emunand Tool existed and all my computers run GNU/Linux.
Do you still have menuhax on emuNAND? try holding the trigger that stops menuhax from booting after it first boots cakes. If you make it in after that, change your theme to break emuNAND menuhax.
>because i am on the emunand, i don't need to use minipasta
Correct. All you're doing is using CFW so you disable signature checks. miniPasta is just a CFW for your sysNAND.
>will I always have to use cakes in order to boot into my emuNAND
yes, you need CFW to get to your emuNAND
>noticed an autoboot option
that makes it so you auto boot into Cakes instead of having to see that Cakes menu. If you do this, just remember that you'll have to hit L next time you want the menu for some reason.
>What is the problem of people with using rxtools ?
rxTools is very poorly made. It's trying to cram a bunch of shit together and it's not good at any of it. Cakes + NTR + Decrypt9 > rxTools
Get the .3DS version of FBI, press select to pull up the multirom menu and boot FBI, from there you can install .cia files. I recommend first installing FBI.cia so you don't have to do this method more than once.
Your best bet may be restoring the old backup and then doing the same thing.
I believe savedatafiler does what you want. I don't have experience with it, though.
He's not telling other to do it, he's saying that's how the newer emuNAND crypto was cracked.
>Does anyone know how they did it
Yeah, downgrading to 1.0 allowed them to do it. Read above
I'm a pussy too >>128339794 i have a lot of official games on my NNID and i dont want it banned tho fuck me i want these free games. Have you tried it yet?
How can you tell your CIA are legit? anyone?
>not having it offline
That happens, its nothing you did. Keep trying.
Some tip others been doing is starting up FTBrony, then immediately backing out and going quickly in sysupdater.
Protip: you can press right on the dpad to scroll quickly.
So I've got a September nightly build of RX 3.0, unlinked NANDS, the works.
Do I really just have to install GBA .cias to both sys and emuNAND to make them work on emuNAND? I don't know how comfortable I am with installing FBI on sysNAND.
>Is it safe or even possible to update only Splatoon
Yes, but only if your firmware is 5.3.2 and you spoof it to 5.5, you can use WUP Installer to update your game outside of the eshop https://gbatemp.net/threads/wup-installer-title-installer-firmware-spoofing-5-3-2.397053/
Alright. I got it down to 9.2U. I guess I read the guide wrong. I thought running sysUpdater was the part I had to be persistent about, not running the downgrade. Thank you.
You could always update the emunand.
And I think the page you download the CIA from would say.
I know Shovel knight apparently won't work on 9.2 or something and needs a higher firmware
really? what DNS are we going to use now?
>I've heard mixed things and I don't own any physical games new enough to require above 9.5. Try it and see, I guess. If you're getting a .cia it has to be cryptofixed, but there might be some sort of workaround for a cart.
For future reference, trying to launch the game asks me to update to 9.5, with a modded nver in the regaining eshop access fix, and pressing cancel just doesn't launch the game, so no, it doesn't work
Can someone set up my SD card for me?
I left my PC set up, just SSH into it and set it up for me. It's drive F btw.
the best part is you niggers are crazy enough to actually do that
I'm trying to install Custom Themes on my emuNand 10.3 on O3DS. I'm able to boot up CHMM2 and install a theme. But when I go back to the Home Menu, it stays the same. Any help?
I've already checked that my NANDs are unlinked.
I think BootNTR.cia is all you'll need to install and run.
>Would system transfer from emuNAND to emuNAND work?
Yes, in theory, but not for you. The N3DS currently can't be on 10.3 emuNAND, and system transfers require both to be on latest firmware. I think if you got CFW on both of them first there's something you could do with freemultipatcher that involves spoofing being on the same firmware so you can transfer. I haven't tried it myself.
Not sure what people you're referring to specifically, but my guide has you setup FBI by using a sysNAND CFW instead of injecting. I think there are other guides that instruct you to do the same.
Ah, I think I get what you mean now. You've got menuhax+ctrbootmanager setup to autoboot. Selecting miniPasta restarts your 3DS, so menuhax is being triggered. If you have the homebrew launcher in your ctrbootmanager menu, you can just select it at that part since you're technically in Pasta by that point.
Okay, there's a decent chance that guide is deeply flawed and has you take out your SD card and format sysNAND through system settings. This breaks your NNID and is the reason you should use TinyFormat. Basically, when you format the normal way, Nintendo unlinks your NNID on their servers, but since you still have an emuNAND that's a duplicate, it'll be logged into an NNID that it's not _actually_ logged into. This leads to errors. There should be a fix somewhere. Check the errors section of the guide you used, it probably covers the error you get.
No, not at the moment.
Try my guide instead: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
>if it says 'rx-e' for rxtools or whatever cakes is using, you're in emunand
Cakes doesn't have a marker for emuNAND yet. mid-kid is still working on a better way to do it than rxTools does. The way rxTools does it causes bugs with the time and calendar.
>manually inject FBI into Health and Safety because N3DS
>get black screen with one white pixel in bottom left of top screen
I looked up what the problem could be and it seems to be that I've used a January build of rxTools, which had an issue. I pasted the December build over rxTools as a suggested fix, but no dice.
What do I do now?
>Using that 3DS Multi emuNAND creator tool
>Successfully formatted SD card #1 and injected the emunand.bin just fine, tested shit out and it all works
>Went to work on this other SD card I want to make use of (probably won't need it but might as well do it anyway)
>Successfully formatted it
>Go to inject the emunand.bin, same one I used before
>Unable to identify the SD card that contains the EmuNAND.
>Tried using emunand tool to inject the emunand file
>No emuNAND SD detected. Please make sure that the SD is inserted correctly and is already formatted by the Gateway/R4i or other clone card.
>Opened up multi emuNAND, formatted it again and went to inject the emunand again
>Getting the same error messages
What the fuck? I changed the NAND number from the little dropdown box it has so it isn't because of that.
Am I fucking something up even though this is an incredibly easy and straight forward process?
I get a black screen with an error whenever I try to run my games. They load up, 3DS logo shows, then the error comes in like 30 seconds.
Can anyone lend a hand? I think my MHX.cia file may be fucked up but I can't find another, would really appreciate a link if that's the cause.
