3DS: 9.2 (10.3 for userland / downgrade, eShop is x.x.x-28 only)
Wii U: 5.5 (Upcoming IOSU exploit)
Vita: 3.51 (Userland)
PS4: 1.76 (Webkit)
N3DS emuNAND can't be updated past 9.5
O3DS emuNAND can update all the way to 10.3

-10.4 WHEN– Nintendo Network is undergoing maintenence as we speak.
-Browser/Menuhax both work on the latest firmware again! DON'T DELAY in getting Homebrew.
-memchunkhax2 is a kernel11 exploit that allows downgrading to 9.2, and works with firmware 10.3 and below.
-Can no longer download Ironfall 1.0
-Smea started working on hax 3.0
>Is downgrading safe?
Safe as it gets for now. Most bricks seem to be people using the wrong firmware. Be sure you understand the process.
-Right now soft bricks can restore by update, but what happens when it's 10.4?
-A libkhax variant of mch2 sysUpdater compiled by julian20 implements the safest settings so far
-Getting the downgrader to even start can require many tries. Opening and closing an FTP app supposedly helps.
-Blank screen can be caused by Menuhax. Try pulling your SD card if you get it. Boot, reinsert, change theme.
-System update 5.5.1 is out.
-Hykem is being weird.
-Cobra Black Fin was announced. http://wololo.net/2015/12/07/cobra-black-fin-an-upcoming-dongle-to-play-ps-vita-isos/
-A Vita update got released, you might not want to update since it fixes the email exploit.
You did it anon
Can anyone confirm changing the system clock re-links your Nands? Someone was talking about it a few threads back.
alright i'm fucking lost now. I downgraded my 3ds and got to the point where I placed "firmware.bin inside \FOR SD CARD ROOT\rxTools\sys\" I copied everything over to my SD card root and put it back in to my 3ds. When I turned it on and held L to get to the homebrew menu, nothing happened, multiple times. I did what the error section on the retard guide told me to do. However, whenever I scan the QR code, open the website, and press the little slider (it was automatic before I downgraded, didn't have to press a slider) I get kicked out of the browser with an "An error has occurred." message. Now I'm not sure what to do, someone please help this retard.
>have 32GB SD card
>all the .cia's I transferred are a total of ~12 GB
>let BBm install all the .cia's for a while
>check up on it
>it got about halfway down the list
>"not enough space"
Can I delete the .cia's from the .cia folder once I import them to make more room?
Maybe it's because I accidentally put two Pokemon Y.cia's in the folder?
No, it doesn't, and the symptoms that guy had were symptoms you'd get if you installed a sysUpdater system pack for the wrong region. User error.
Your Sys and Emu clock adjustments are independent though. Source: have modified both tons of times over like a dozen systems.
>just unlink the NAND
>trying to get menuhax back but it wont let me
After tapping on the left side of the slider im getting a yellow screen and it boot me back to the 3ds menu.
Can't believe this problem is popping up right when im alsmost done. What am I doing wrong here exactly? I didn't have problem with menuhax at the beginning.
>blargSNES has issues with all the good games I want to emulate
Also are the Battle Network games as good as people make them out to be?
What CFW should I be using for n3DS?
RXtools omega isn't working and I had trouble getting cakes to run.
If you're on N3DS what CFW are you using? I've already got my NANDS unlinked.
I have Emunand and Sysnand unlinked, but I uninstalled my FBI cia from emunand
I can reinstall it on sysnand through pasta, but I cant reinstall it on emunand, so right now my emunand has my saves + friends list, but no way to install cia files.
What the fuck do I do now?
I successfully downgraded and the 3DS turns on just fine without the SD card inserted. However, the 3DS wont turn on to the home menu with the SD card inserted. It hangs on a black screen. Is there a way to fix that? I'm not seeing anything like that in the guides.
>this thread music
So I did the downgrade, waited for reboot. After 5 minutes nothing happened so I took out the SD card, on removal of SD card and error message popped up as if I was on the regular home menu of 3DS so I turned off the console since it wouldn't let me close the popup. When I reboot the console I get a black screen, did I brick my O3DS?
>tfw closing 10+ tabs after getting the games and getting it to autoboot to emunand
MONSTER HUNTER X HERE I COME
My 3DS XL keeps semi-bricking when I'm trying to downgrade. No errors from sysupdater, and I've already tried to re-download the 9.2 firmware multiple times. People online are saying I'll have to format the system, but I really don't want to do that. Any ideas?
No no no SHOULD i update? i know some people were saying dont update the EmuNand but i dont see a reason not to. Its not like Nintendo can force the EmuNand to update to 10.4 right? and my SysNand is at 9.2 anyways.
So menuhax suddenly stopped working for me, meaning it probably wasn't properly installed in the first place. I turned off my 3ds and when I booted it back up it wouldn't work. Am I completely fucked now or what? I had it set up to boot into crtboot via menuax, and lead me into emunand via rxtools 3.0. I followed the retard's guide to the letter and don't really know what else to do from here.
I also just tried rebooting without the SD card and the reboot works and on settings it shows that i'm on 9.2 but if I want to reboot with the SD card what should I do if it boots with a black screen.
this is what I did except if you want to run them from emunand you need to install the AGB_FIRM file in both emunand and sysnand same with the gba cias
Well, I already knew my childhood sucked, I don't know some random american opening of a cartoon from the 90s, there's no need for that filename, Youtube comments handle that job pretty well.
I've got my N3DS downgraded, my Gateway up and running 3DS games and I'm almost done with the blue card.
Thanks for all the help.
One last question from me: When you're in the EmuNAND is there a shortcut to boot back into the Gateway menu?
You probably installed random stuff to "NAND" destination in FBI. If you're careful and check for what you installed there and delete it they'll go away. Be careful, deleting the wrong stuff might harm your system (or emunand)
Is there a better way to play GBA games?
Currently have the injected VC CIAs installed to both emuNAND and sysNAND and it kicks me back to sysNAND whenever I'm done playing them.
Well you could always use your NAND backup (you did make one right?) but otherwise you're stuck with them. Not really harmful though so you could just ignore them.
retroarch SNES cores are a great idea on n3ds.
The fastest one (pocketsnes) would only give me 27 fps on Super Metroid so I gave up on it. "Playable" means different things to different people though
You really don't have an alternative, sorry. I've been looking for one for my softbricking system and finally bit the bullet and formatted yesterday. Remember that you'll need to redo Browserhax after, your time is limited AS FUCK unless you have Cubic Ninja/OoT.
I did all kinds of shit, going down from 9.6 to 9.5 on that system 100% softbricked it. Going to 9.6 was fine but obviously comes with no benefits.
I'm just using an O3DS XL, and Retroarch won't go over 20fps on that with SNES games. I'll just have to stick to GBA games and whatnot instead, and emulate my SNES games on my computer.
I'm guessing that's my only choice. What should I use to delete it?
I tried using a nand backup but whenever I tried to enter either rxTools or Cakes after the backup it would just "reboot" to the ctrbootmanager or homebrew so I couldn't get in.
>Picking a theme I like is harder than picking a game to play
My brother wants me to install CFW for him so he can play MHX like I did on mine, but he also wants to transfer to a N3DS at some point and would like to retain data like Mii Plaza and whatnot. Is there any way to unlink emuNAND and sysNAND without losing that information on sysNAND?
Holy FUCK captcha let me post already Christ
Anyone know what might have been up? I was able to get back into crtboot with the slider hack, and deleted menuhax before reinstalling. Entered emuNAND, rebooted, and booted right back into crtboot just fine. So everything should be fine now.
Still, I'd like to have an idea of what went wrong in the first place.
Currently trying to install pasta CFW. I get up to the homebrew menu after running ninjhax but my 3DS force restarts itself when selecting the pasta CFW loader. Is this one of those issues where I keep trying or am I doing something wrong?
Can you install and run USA GBA VC games on a EUR 3DS?
Tales of the abyss
Titty ninjas 2
It should work fine, I just used literally a minute ago. Browserhax is a piece of shit unless you use the voodoo trick, ie turn off wifi, clear data, qr code, browser, turn on wifi, browser, slider.
I managed to get ac hhd to work on my o3ds 10.3 cfw with the help of eshop:
>Install the cia
>If you get an error when you try to open it
>go to eshop and search for ac hhd, along the bottom it should say "downloaded"
>go out of eshop and into settings and delete ac hhd through that
>once deleted go back to eshop and look up ac hdd
>It should now say "redownload" and it'll allow you to download it through the eshop
>updating the 2.0 update should still make the game work
Same method can be used for pokemon picross too if you get an error message
I tried following the guide to downgrade. It didn't freeze and it said it installed, but when I checked system settings after it restarted I was still at 10.3 and it also removed menuhax. What should I do, just try again and hope it works?
Those directions are misleading. You have to install a patched cia (AGB_FIRM) to NAND in FBI, in BOTH sysnand and emunand. This cia is NOT a game cia, never install a game cia to the nand. After that, you have to install the game cia to the sd on both sysnand and emunand, then start the game in emunand.
Done! 3DS is fully hacked!
I love each and every one of you anons!
All of you thanks for the help! Now all thats left is to figure out how to install games and themes. Ill be here to help out other people for a while now too. LOVE U ALL THANKS
Can someone download a .cia file for me and tell me whether or not I fucked up? I'm trying to properly dump my 3DS games and these guides aren't entirely clear. What's good filehost to share it to? Tried Mega but I'd have to register to actually link my files.
How is it autistic to just want to drag and drop one file that's probably garbage so I can share it and get feedback? If I go through all that time are you actually gonna fucking download the thing?
Weird question, but I think I might have heard something about it somewhere
On a cfw running in emunand, cakes to be specific, with unlinked nands, is it okay to enter the data management for your emunand to delete cias? I heard that there is a risk of accidentally relinking your nands, but I've been in these threads nonstop for a days so I might have misremembered
Did anyone else have issues with getting Homebrew launcher.cia working after installing ctrboot?
I fixed it by hex editing the ropbin file. By default the cia version of homebrew launcher looks for boot.bin and this can't be changed via hex editing for some reason. So I left the normal hbl boot.3dsx as is and renamed the ctr one to grub.3dsx (name has to be same length when you hex edit). Next I opened the ropbin in my hex editor and searched for the boot.3dsx string. Replaced it with grub.3dsx and I was good to go. Now I can launch hbl from within emunand and edit my theme via chmm2.
Why do you fags link that damned pastebin tutorial in the OP of every thread, the one that SAYS TO USE CAKES, if you are then going to >>>>> every fucking person who follows that tutorial and uses Cakes? FFS
>been attempting to downgrade for 3 hours now
>got the red text 3 times, it immediately freezes every single time
i'm on the verge of breaking my 3DS, holy fuck are there any ways to get this shit to work?
New 3DS btw.
No, go straight to Browserhax -> Menuhax, you can redownload eShop stuff after setting up EmuNAND.
Your saves will be toast forever btw, even if you make an SD card backup. Unless you back them up with svdt or the other save manager first.
For an FBI database error in emuNAND like this one.
Could you open up the dbs folder on your emuNAND, import the .dbs files, have the 3DS rewrite them and then it will work?

NINTENDO WONT UPDATE ITS WEBSITE
MY 10.3 3DS WAS TRYING TO UPDATE
I see. If nobody else knows either, I suppose we'll either make the sacrifice or wait until he gets a N3DS.
If I imported a japanese N3DS, could I feasibly get CFW on it and be able to access the NA eshop while also being able to launch/install cia games at the same time?
I really like the look of the black regular sized console, but it looks like we only have the happy home white bundle here.
Im in the same boat bruh. Just finished all the steps and emunand is updated and unlinked.
At the risk of sounding retarded, if I boot into RX am I safe to just delete games through the data management in settings? or if not is there a way to back them up onto my PC from my SD card?
Can't lie. I've never needed one before and I used to have a shitload of problems using it. It still behaves more suspiciously than MegaUpload did, but whatever. This was retardedly easy.
No promises. An anon asked for this. Hope I did it right.
That's not a database error, that's a command error. You can't use FBI.3dsx in EmuNAND or in any CFW that isn't Pasta or the Pasta mode in rxTools (and no, there's no EmuNAND support for those).
Your only option is to inject FBI or re-do your EmuNAND after setting up FBI in SysNAND.
>done with all the shit and resetting
>tfw looking at your emuNAND screen with a custom theme with vidya music playing with a full list of 3DS and VC games
Time to get comfy.
>It should be the latest, I just set it up earlier.
So you compiled it from the latest commit? Would you care to share it with us? I'd like to see how faster it is, but I can't run makerom on my PC
And that's what hundreds of people saw while you sat there and did nothing.
You could have stopped it
It's all your fault
I can't download shit from the eShop any more. I got 5 games and it just stopped when I tried to download Wario Land through the eShop. I have Cakes and used the N3DS 9.5 workaround
We don't actually know, I don't think anyone's actually reversed the 5.5 Wii U browser. Wouldn't be surprised if they added that in 5.5.1 though.
Wii U definitely does full silent system autoupdates when it's not blocked though. That's almost as bad.
I was following what was discovered to be an old guide and was given the "retards version" pastebin
I was able to downgrade and reinstall the homeebrew but I cant figure what it is I need to play games
Is that what cfw or rxtools? I tried to follow a youtube guide but ditched it
Now I fear that Im too late for the portion of being able to play online with these games.......
Use everything after and including /#F[insert string here] to complete the url. I'm on chrome and have the extension, which may or may not matter, but you can use the portion of that link to make a url with mega.nz
What was censored?
If you're on version 9.2, follow this guide:
It says n3ds but it works for o3ds too.
Just downgraded my N3DS XL
I'm following this to install CFW
Is there any reason I wouldn't use Pasta to install a .cia manager? And any reason I wouldn't just pick FBI? Why would I switch to rxtools?
What's the difference between the major CFWs?
I took the connection off of mine. I don't trust that it won't update in the background. The only game I played online was splatoon and I'm pretty bored of that right now.
Doing that will make the 3ds wipe all your games and saves. Delete shit using fbi or bigbluemenu.
I think I fucked up with my Cake installation, because even though it's a cfw I don't see FBI on my main screen.
What files do I need to delete to go back to my 9.2 downgrade so I can start anew? Or is there a way to fix this?
That wasn't very clear. Basically, make a url that looks like mega.nz/#F[random string of numbers and letters] with whatever you've been given. That's what I've been doing with some of the weird urls people have been linking for the app.
Hopefully you should be able to figure it out. I'm not sure if every mega link involves an "F" after the score, but again, you should be fine.
Anyone have any ideas/solutions for this problem? I downgraded to 9.2 but when I boot with the SD card I get two black screens (holding L doesn't launch homebrew menu) and if I boot without the SD card then the 3DS boots normally. I checked the error fixing section of the pastebin and tried to fix the homebrew launcher/browser hax but when I changed the boot.3dsx file to bkup.3dsx and get the boot.3dsx from the starter zip and put the SD card back in for boot, my 3DS still has black screens with the SD card in. Please send help
Yes, you need a program on your PC. You can use Sockfile (shitty Java command-line thing), SocketPunch (shitty Java GUI thing), FalconPunch (simple Python command-line thing) or maybe some others. There's no actual easy to use GUI to my knowledge, it's mostly a thing meant for developers. You do indeed save space and it can be faster.
Even brief connection drops will obviously result in having to retry so you need pretty reliable wifi.
10.4 isn't even out yet. Absolutely nothing is confirmed, we don't even know with 100% certainty whether it's coming (they pushed a shitty useless Wii U update like 4 hours ago and haven't heard from Nintendo since even though stuff's still sorta-down).
Press the R button until you see a bunch of gibberish strings. http://3dsdb.com/ has a search thing where you can look up what ID is which game. Like if you wanted to uninstall shovel knight you'd go there and search for shovel knight and then find CTR-JK8P (serial column) on your list in fbi and delete it.
I thought cfw and this rxtools thing were two different things. Then why are people talking about emunand and updating that?
Thanks for this guide seems stupid proof, hope I dont mess something up and yeah im on o3ds 9.2
if you're using Cakes, make sure you enable the second option under patches. You need to do that for every game that reboots when launching on O3DS like Smash and Monster Hunter 4/X
there are two folders.
Here's my concern: When I'm in the emuNAND and open system settings, then return to home menu it takes me straight back to sysNAND. I feel like this is bad.
You can use sysupdated for emunand can't you? (Don't do it unless others confirm obviously because I'm just assuming) But yeah I thought providing you had the 10.3 update files, or 9.5 if you're on N3ds instead of O3ds that you'd be fine.
Are you using Tubehax DNS? That blocks all updates. Otherwise, it might be due to the maintenance, in which case you're fucked unless you go out and buy Cubic Ninja or OoT+powersaves.
>I thought cfw and this rxtools thing were two different things. Then why are people talking about emunand and updating that?
"CFW" is actually just the way everyone refers to BOTH firmware patches and NAND redirecting, since they're often together. That's what rxTools does: it patches the firmware so you can launch software without checks and redirects the NAND to a partition in your SD card. And yes, updating emuNAND is a good idea.
Alright I thought I was done but it look I have one final problem here. I wanted to change my theme and for that I need to go to homebrew launcher but everytime I try to go there by selecting it from the boot manager my 3ds froze on a red screen.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/d2p28fvz0idl2wx/SocketPunch_v0.3.3.zip you need Java.
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/blockfeed/FalconPunch/master/FalconPunch.py you need Python + very limited command-line skills.
Sockfile's only on GBAtemp I think but there's really no reason to use that.
A 3DS can only have two folders in the "Nintendo 3DS" folder. If there's more, it means you used that SD card on more than one 3DS.
That's just how it works, it does the same for everyone, even if unlinked.
At one point you renamed the homebrew launcher boot file, placed in the coldboot boot file and placed a boot.cfg. The path to homebrew launcher in the boot.cfg has to point to whatever you renamed the old homebrew launcher boot file to. Just edit it with notepad and make sure it matches
Everybody who hasn't successfully downgraded yet, do pic related.
Or else nintendo will push updates to your system.
Hey guys I need help.
I'm trying to get ORAS injected after taking out my old 3DS and finding out its on 9.5
I dumped the savefile no prob, but I can't get it back in the game without it crashing.
So, to update all I have to do is update via the system tab in rxtools and it'll turn into RX 10.4? I just really want to make sure because I'll end up committing sudoku immediatly if this gets rid of my cfw
Trying to install CHMM2.cia here but im getting an error.
Could not install app.
Raw Error: 0xc8a0802b

Summary: Invalid state (0x5)

I need to setup the tooling required for injecting gba games. I'm tired of downloading shitty ones other people have made with bad cover art/shit versions of roms. Like Super Mario Advance series and the Castlevania games need ips patches because of their bad colors. The developers artificially brightened those games so they would show up better on the original gba. I'd like to get solar sensor versions of boktai 1+2 injected as well.
Browserhax can't be blocked on <=9.8 due to missing remote block code. If you're particularly worried, make a backup of your SysNAND Nintendo 3DS folder, you can restore that as long as you don't format SysNAND.
If you have that active while trying to downgrade and soft brick, you can't use recovery mode
If the dns goes down you'll lose all internet connection, so it still won't update
For some reason i cant get into the CRTBoot anymore either. Yes i installed FBI and i followed the guide all the way. I just tried to get into FBI on EmuNand and it just did the regular H&S app. I restarted my 3DS and now i cant do shit. Am i screwed?
If I imported an european one, would I be able to access the NA eshop through CFW? I started reading up on 3ds hacking a couple days ago, don't really know everything that's possible yet.
Okay so after literally 5 cold boots to menuhax to CTRboot manager to cakes and it just fucking stalling FIVE FUCKING TIMES IM DONE, IM SO DONE.
What RXtools version do I get on my N3dS?
There's plenty of O3DS guides to get Rxtools but which one for N3DS?
Samsung Memory 64GB Evo MicroSDXC UHS-I Grade 1 Class 10 Memory Card with SD Adapter
if you buy it from Amazon, make sure you specify you want it from Amazon.com by scrolling down to Other Sellers on Amazon
SOMEONE HELP PLEASE I GOT IT ALL WORKING NOW ITS NOT WORKING AHHHH
No, not unless you have an unused NA system around that's never connected to the eShop. You'd need to dump the SecureInfo file before your system ever gets into the eShop and it's all a huge pain in the ass. Not recommended.
Julian's libkhax build (the one you should be using) provides no feedback on the kernel exploit portion. It's not very useful feedback anyway.
I have 9.2 on old 3DS, haven't unlinked emunand and sysnand yet, kinda get what I have to do but have a couple of questions
1) after formatting my 3DS and do the starting set ups again, I have to use a diferent NNID or the same one I was using before?
2) I use cakes for accessing my emuNAND without conection, will it still work if I just configure a theme? Or do I have to do all over again?
Wait, could I dump my NAND and restore it via browserhax every time it softbricks?
Are anyone else captchas bugging out? I need to do them like 15 times until it works, on both v1 and v2 captcha.
I haven't used my 3DS in like a year and I open it to install cfw and my top screen is broken.
welp guess I'm not getting cfw
doesn't seem like amazon has it on stock http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Memory-MicroSDXC-UHS-I-Adapter/dp/B00J29FF4G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452579741&sr=8-1&keywords=Samsung+Memory+64GB+Evo+MicroSDXC+UHS-I+Grade+1+Class+10+Memory+Card+with+SD+Adapter
Whenever I open a custom virtual console game this happens how do I fix it?
Fuck, following the Retards guide http://pastebin.com/EBKipkPW and am at line151 and when I boot into Rx Tools it says the EmuNAND is not found. SD card root looks like
Am I missing a file? I did everything the guide said so far, do I have to put certain files into certain folders? halp
I just completed the EmuNAND setup, put my SD backup data back on the SD card after formatting it. Instead of booting in to CTRBootManager when I hold L at start up, it still boots to the homebrew launcher. How do I fix this?
What are the real differences between a N3DS and an O3DS as far as cfw is concerned right now? I know the actual process for N3DS is supposed to be a bitch, and emunand is limited to 9.5.
Does it have any more limitations as a result? Is there a way to bypass the firmware limitations to play games that require newer firmware?
You can't dump or restore NAND unless you're properly on 9.2. You could do it with a hardmod though, yeah. It's pretty much proven that softbricks don't get fixed unless you format. If you do set up a hardmod, you can backup now, format, successfully downgrade SysNAND and use your NAND backup as EmuNAND, meaning you lose nothing (if you backed up your SD card before formatting SysNAND too). Hardmod obviously takes soldering skills and a whole bunch of shit.
And yep the captchas are fucked. I lost a bunch of posts earlier.
Guys im freaking out here i need someones expert advice im literally hyperventilating euuuugh what the fuck did i dooooooo.
So I sucessfully have an rxTools install 10.3 and when I launch health and safety I get the fbi launcher. Followed the retard guide.
Is playing games now as simple as putting the .cia files on my sd card and installing them with fbi, or is there another step I need to take first?
Well, good news is I seem to have eShop access back again. Bad news is that
My 3DS app dump was a failure. The banner is fine but trying to load it pops up an error and I have to turn off the system.
It can't have just been the serial can it? I checked the original against 3DS Builder's default one in BBM, and it was just one character off.
My download was CTR-N-JFRE and 3DSB made the serial CTR-P-JFRE
3.0 or Omega. 2.6 doesn't work on N3DS.
GBA VC games have to be installed on both the sysnand and emunand.
Hard Mod can be done by anyone with novice level of soldering skills. It's only 8 points total and the 3DS doesn't have to be taken apart that much just the backplate.
Im gonna keep on bumping my question till someone gives me some advice.
that was just the barely risky part. the annoying part for a first timer is getting all the cfw stuff setup for a smooth boot (no menus, automatic) and getting nand junk ready. Not difficult, just can be overwhelming at first. There are soem handy guides that help you out
Is this image not correct anymore? In the pastebin it says " Old CFW Flowchart (someone make a new one)"
okay well you don't really give any detail
are you holding left trigger on boot to boot into it? where does it go wrong? is it as if nothing happened? what step did you get to?
For the LOVE of GOD someone PLEASE help! PLEASE I BEG YOU! If i install menuhax again will i be able to get back into EmuNand? when i hold the L button nothing comes up and i get back into SySNand. its like EmuNand doesnt exist.
The only thing I can possibly think of is that I didn't delete the updates folder yet and my wireless is turned off (enabling wireless is what finally made sysupdater work, odly enough). I guess it's worth a shot, unless there's a compelling reason not to.
Damn, got a link for Omega? Haven't seen that in any guides. I heard Nightlies work.
>boot to sysnand via the options inside of cakes (Just leave boot emunand unchecked)
>Press L then click AGB patch
>Hit home and close then power off
>Open cakes again this time check boot emunand
>Install FBI cia again
>Open FBI press L and install AGB
>Go back to Sysnand via unchecking launch emunand
>Go to FBI, install all gba games to SD
>Exit and turn off then boot into cakes again but check launch emunand this time
>Go to FBI and install all GBA games
>Boot GBA game in emunand
I finished all of the steps. I tried to install BigBlueMenu so i made a CIA folder and i put BigBlueMenu on it. I went on my EmuNand and i went into the H&S app to launch FBI but it just used the regular H&S app.
Thought it was weird so i just restarted my system and now when i hold the L button nothing happens and nothing comes up.
I already did the Gateway thing and formatted/backed up NAND but haven't gone further. Can I just format it and start over with whatever othe method? Is this one http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji the correct one?
Just reinstall menuhax it takes like 30 seconds to do. Browser > sliderhax > menuhax > press delete > press install. Alernatively try replacing your boot.3dsx with the homebrew launcher one or a fresh copy of the ctr boot.3dsx one.
Eh just finish it like that. It'll work and won't be functionally any different from current methods, but will take more effort. Starting over is definitely even more work though.
Don't know if you're still here, but that was the solution! Thanks so much!
Probably mostly brand. I'm sure that one will do just as well. You could also look at a UHS-1 model. It really doesn't matter, as long as it's from a reputable brand. Just make sure you check it when you get the card to make sure it actually has the space it claims to have.
Permanent until you turn your router off (or walk outside), let it try to update and get offered to change network settings because it can't find your wifi. It does that.
So why are all of you people literal retards? If you can't follow the steps and can't fix shit on your own without spoonfeeding then just stop messing with this shit because you are going to end up with a brick.
So for this error, can anyone tell me if this will fix it?
>go into sysnand
>reboot into sysnand
>dump emuNAND to emuNAND.bin
>format the SD
>format the sysNAND
>go into emuNAND
>fbi should work
This will fix it?
>Run sysupdater on my N3DS once
>Getting CIA file informations...
"Nightly" is a programmer term. It means the same thing as "daily".
It just means that the program is updated every day.
If somebody tells you to get the nightly build they mean that you should get the latest version.
Yep, I have 3 EmuNANDs on my 2DS. One keeps a system transfer from my O3DS XL, one's for fucking around with totally unsafe stuff (it's currently Japan region because why not?), one's my main piracy one. You can just run EmuNAND9 to format them, copy everything but the Nintendo 3DS\randomgarbagefromoldemunand, install and run TinyFormat in the EmuNAND instead of SysNAND and you have yourself yet another EmuNAND. You'll need FBI injected if you do it like this.
No real reason to do it unless you want to keep legit & non-legit separate or will have multiple people sharing your system or something. May cause eShop weirdness, haven't checked.
You can also just clone your SD card to another (following the usual tutorials for moving stuff) but that's no fun.
>QR code won't work
>Have to start over from the beginning again
Well I'm getting nothing but a billion softbricks with julian20's sysupdater, should I try TuxSH's?
i got a new card, i copy pasted my 4 gig card in a new folder, then i ejected it and copy pasted to my new 32 gig card, and i go to boot up rxtools, and it says cant find emunand. wat do?
Okay so i have a Red 3ds already setup and 28~ gb of games already installed. I just downgraded my MonHun N3ds and want to use it instead. I dont want to have to redownload and reinstall and transfer every single save file and cia :(
You can try but there's really no reason why that one wouldn't softbrick, it does the same thing but in an unsafer order. Formatting your system (thus losing any savegames not backed up with svdt) is usually your only solution.
>3ds gets blown wide open
>Mysterious "updates" schedule less than a week later
What do you think
Some anon linked this all day hoping to help someone and he's not here. So I'll do it for him.
When I try to Dump SysNAND to NAND.bin, it says that the NAND.bin could not be created and its fails, how do I fix this issue. Or is this suppose to happen and I eject my SD card by pressing select on the previous menu
>mfw can't stop downloading a bunch of themes that I probably will never use
Huh. I used the eShop and didn't lose the Smash DLC I installed like some anons have said I would
Is it only on O3DS people are losing their DLC? I'm on N3DS using the eShop workaround.
Just use sysUpdater and download the correct UPdated firmware this time.
HELLO. SHOULD I UPDATE TO 3.0 RXTOOLS? I AM USING 2.6. DO I HAVE TO START AGAIN IF I WANT TO UPGRADE IT?
I WROTE IN CAPS IN HOPE OF A REPLY 3RD TIME ASKING THIS QUESTION.
I can't mount my SD card on my computer. It keeps unmounting and mounting repeatedly as soon as I put it into the card reader (Windows sound drives me crazy). It's not the card reader's fault because I have another SD card and it works fine with the card reader.
My 3DS however detects it fine.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Maybe I have to format it but how do I format it when I can't get it on my computer?
What happens is you get stuck at a screen that says "An error has occurred" after downgrading. When that does happen, try booting with the memory card ejected. If it still doesn't work, you have a softbrick.
Getting out of it just takes pressing L+R+UP+A when it boots which takes you to a recovery menu that updates to the latest firmware.
Apparently some people recommend formatting system data before downgrading because it supposedly increases the chances of a success, but I've been too stubborn to try it out because muh save data.
This is the first major hack that opens up something besides 9.2. Previously before these threads people kept posting 9.9 never ever. Hoping for 9.9 hacks. Then (for me) out of the blue some guy just drops a downgrader using browserhax. You could use browserhax on any firmware but nobody had the downgrader. Who ever made the downgrader just kinda dropped it and now /hbg/ is what you see today.
Why people are worried about 10.4 is beyond me. If you have a console TODAY right NOW. There should be no problem as long as you don't update. And proabbly any console you buy for a while won't be above 10.3. So it will be a while before these hacks stop. Unless someone who knows better tells me this is wrong.
In your root of your sd card the homebrewlauncher boot needs to be renamed boot_hb then you can copy the new boot file from the the CTR rar over.
>Formatting your system (thus losing any savegames not backed up with svdt) is usually your only solution.
Fuck. Will that erase my friend list and delink my 3ds from the eshop too?
I've got a shitload of downloaded games.
Ok so, I was trying to fix my access to eShop on a o3DS with 10.3 emunand.
I used the normal system settings save backup thing, and reset my emunand, which made me loose access to the saves.
Is there any way to recover the saves? I have a emunand.bin backup but when I try to inject it, it doesnt recognize the old system files
Yes, you lose your friends, no you don't lose your eShop (if you have an NNID then it'll be linked to that and can just log back in, if you don't then you can just redownload games after, the eShop account stays connected).
You can install them without having to dump them. Why the fuck would you wanna go through all that trouble. Stop being retarded. Just install the ones you had and pretend theyre yours. Why does it matter that they have to be "yours".
I take it this means I can delete the Nintendo 3DS folder I backed up before formatting. Not that I cared about most of the content.
You've taken what I said and inserted your own meaning, friend. By "dumping them" I mean that I'm trying to make my own dumps so that I can upload and share them
>Why the fuck would you wanna go through all that trouble. Stop being retarded.
I've spent the last 8 hours with working hacks miserable because I can't contribute. I tried dumping Swapnote because an anon asked for it last night, but when I launched my dumped file, it crashed my 3DS.
>Why does it matter that they have to be "yours".
Ironic ease of use argument. It makes sense in my head, anon. I was actually hoping I could install those and go, but now if I want them I have to find them somewhere (thanks >>128303031) and install them TWICE using some convoluted workaround (which I was already expecting to have to do)
I don't know why I ever try to contribute to anything.
So I just successfully installed and upgraded the emuNAND to 10.3. However, I did it all on my 4GB SD card. I bought a 64GB and would like to install my games on that. Does someone have the guide that shows how to flash the emuNAND on the new SD card?
So just a few questions. I'm supposed to remove the Nand.bin, not copy it right?
Also it's saying that starter.bin not found but I see it there. Is it supposed to be in the root or leave it in the folder?
CTR isn't a file, I meant the rar file of CTR boot manager.
To install CTR boot manager ( and this is the very basic of basics).
>Copy the boot.3dsx
>Rename it to boot_hb.3dsx
>Copy over all the files from the rar of CTRbootmanager rar
>It should launch into CTR
You can edit the boot.cfg to allow autobooting of specific firmwares and shit but I'm not gonna teach all of that. Just mess with it.
Oh my bad. I got you now.
As my rebuttal I ask how you can dump stuff, and could you get me the newest shovel knight update 2.2. I'll trade a blackcats invite for it.
Did I offend the retard? I just honestly can't fathom that no one even tried that.
"How about we try and redirect to older firmware files"
"Nah too simple we have to reverse engineer the fucking kernel"
Go shove a carrot down your urethra you mongoloid.
You're supposed to:
1. Backup emunand and Nintendo 3ds folder
2. Format emunand in system settings
3. Setup and relink your NNID in the new emunand
4. Re-inject your emunand backup and recover your Nintendo 3DS folder.
Maybe you did something in the wrong order?
I followed two guides for Braindump. I was able to dump Swapnote and use the second tutorial to repack it into an installable file, but it wasn't able to load successfully. I keep asking anons who post links how they dump stuff, but it seems to be a closely guarded secret. I was really hoping there'd be a way to dump these games I have that I'm not seeing uploaded anywhere, even if they're not in the highest demand (like Dead or Alive Dimensions, for instance).
Lemme check my sources for that update.
