I started playing last week. Oh my god. I had today off for Memorial day and was going to spend all day watching Twin Peaks, Bladerunner, and playing TW3. Ended up watching Twin Peaks S3E1, then switching to The Witcher 3, and just played it all goddam day. I think I put around ten hours into it. I feel disgusted with myself but I couldn't stop.

Between this and BotW I don't see how I can put up with any other games. Both are literal perfection and other games just feel like soulless cash grabs in comparison.

Thank god I still have something like 150 hours left if my playthrough is anything like my friend's.

Who exactly is "the industry" because if I had to guess I'd say its not developers that are pushing high resolutions, thats just more work for them.

Its probably television makers that realized 3D didnt get people to upgrade from their normal 1080p panels so they needed something new to get you to ditch your already working 1080p tv set.

The guns feel like absolute shit.

enemies take more damage from sneaky attacks and while they are glooed. shotgun has very steep damage falloff, but is a beast when fired from point blank range.
combat focus is helpful
alien abilitys and upgrades & chipsets are helpful

i found the combat in this game extremely fun & fluid, played on nightmare

The big problem is that when people look to vidya as art, they're typically referring to the writing, music, or visuals, but those aren't the merits a game should be judged on. Paintings get judged for their visuals, songs for their sound, films for their acting and effects, and vidya should be judged for how it interacts with the player.
