I liked it. It felt like my mind deep on /pol/ conspiracy threads.
I had hoped for Renly most out of all contenders. he excelled at being human, tempered and calm, i'm aware in the books he is much different but in the the show at least he stood as the next step, a level minded ruler to break the old ways and thrust into the future. Kind to all man and woman, ope minded and peace seeking, he spread himself as wide as possible to cover all his men with his attention. RIP in piece kind king, you left a hole in me and filled me up inside with tears.

Jared Leto as Dream. He would kill himself an transform into the personification of dreams to prepare for the role.

best british crime film
really hypnotic editing, takes a lot from the nouvelle vague/new hollywood. the train scene and the mansion police bust scene in particular.
cool noir aesthetic
there should have been more crime films like this, instead, about 90% of british crime films boil down to "dude quentin tarantino snappy dialogue wacky accents lmao"

what was the meaning of the ending
>>87266011
that carter was just as disposable and mortal as the people he was dealing with, his death is sort of his payment for all the trouble he's caused. in the original novel, it's stated that carter had been on bad terms with his brother, so he spends the whole story trying to get revenge on the people who killed him only to get killed himself just as he finishes his story. the film is more like a character-study than a crime film, there's less emphasis on the revenge story and action than there is just scenes of carter being a sleazy asshole.
there are foreshadows to carter's death in the film (according to the director, the dreamy opening shot of carter looking out the window is representing him looking down from heaven. carter's killer is also sitting across from him on the train in the intro.)
it's a story where nobody wins. the director also stated that he used the noir aesthetic to show sort of an autopsy of the ills of society.
