I hated this movie, because the main character was a pussy.

Well it's not outright shit, but it has a few general flaws

>generic stock soundtrack with the blatant use of temp tracks
>the relatively small budget becomes obvious in any bigger scale scene with The Hobbit like extra duplicates and the fact that 90% of the movie is medium and close-up shots
>somewhat comedic tonal shifts in certain scenes like that first bringing down of the wounded soldier without them noticing and the Vince Vaughn sled like ride and shoot, all the while "serious" soundtrack plays in the background
>too one sided portrayal of the war where the americans are ultimate heroes while the japs are characterless absolute evil monsters
>every wounded soldier is magically healed with only a belt and a bit of morphine

Still enjoyed the movie in cinema, a bigger budget would fix most of my points.

Some of the casting could've been better. Mel also doesn't have the best judgement when it comes to restraining himself on the action.

But yeah, it's a great war movie.

It was directing by based Snyder after all

I remember when i was in the 6th grade this movie came me and my friends were talking about it in class and my teacher over heard us turns out he was a huge watchmen fan he lent me his copy to read he never really liked me cause i was a class clown but after that he was a bit nicer

Watchmen was really good brought the comic to life i laugh at the thought of parents taking their children to see the latest superhero movie and see all the violence and realising they fucked up the trailers did make it look like a regular hero movie

I rewatched this earlier this month. The sharp decline in quality I perceived after Season 3 didn't seem to be there anymore. Either I've gotten a lot dumber over the years or I'm better able to appreciate it. It was surprisingly good, even in the last seasons. When I first watched it when it was airing the last season had two good episodes (Dr. Linus and the one where Sawyer is revealed to be a cop) but they were all pretty good on rewatch.

The IMDB audience shares a lot of sensibilities with the Reddit audience in my experience. That's to say they generally display a fondness for dishonest filmmaking and a disdain for kinographic cinematic experiences. So no, the IMDB top 250 is largely trash and any infographic compiled by /tv/ is likely to be better.

I saw Paul Dano at a grocery store in New York yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, "It's no problem, I love to meet my fans".

I was impressed, and all I could say was "I love Okja", but he kept excitedly cutting me off with production anecdotes from the movie and giving me classic hand gestures. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle pleasantly as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw Paul waiting in line with just a few organic granola bars in his hand ready to pay.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like "sir, did you find everything OK tonight?" At first he kept pretending that he was just a normal guy, but eventually let her know that the service was outstanding and that even he, an award winning actor, was impressed.

When she started scanning the bars individually, Paul stopped her and told her she could just scan them in bulk "to prevent any line holdups" and then turned around and smiled at me. I think that's very considerate. After she scanned just one bar, quickly calculated the total, and put them in a bag and started to say the price, Paul simply handed the cashier a hundred dollar bill and told her to keep the change.

Drive is pretty to look at but is in no way the best. That title belongs to The Comedy, Inside Llewyn Davis, or unironically The Greasy Strangler

Well, not really. Game of Thrones has a lot more badass women, like the Dornish snakes, Cersei, Dany, Sansa, Arya, etc. and is also a little more realistic (battles, ships, castles etc)

For a while there HBO produced nothing but TV kino. Now they just want the normie audience
