Well it's not outright shit, but it has a few general flaws

>generic stock soundtrack with the blatant use of temp tracks
>the relatively small budget becomes obvious in any bigger scale scene with The Hobbit like extra duplicates and the fact that 90% of the movie is medium and close-up shots
>somewhat comedic tonal shifts in certain scenes like that first bringing down of the wounded soldier without them noticing and the Vince Vaughn sled like ride and shoot, all the while "serious" soundtrack plays in the background
>too one sided portrayal of the war where the americans are ultimate heroes while the japs are characterless absolute evil monsters
>every wounded soldier is magically healed with only a belt and a bit of morphine

Still enjoyed the movie in cinema, a bigger budget would fix most of my points.

Some of the casting could've been better. Mel also doesn't have the best judgement when it comes to restraining himself on the action.

But yeah, it's a great war movie.

yeahhh and it's ok if you wanna do that in like a pg-13 adventure film but the excessive gore just didn't fit.
