ITT: fucked up spells

You rub your middle finger across your thumb like a bow against a fiddle while simultaneously humming a discordant tune under your breath. Nearby, you see a translucent bone-white fiddle bow appear and sink into the flesh of your target. It begins sawing, as if playing your target like a fiddle.
You call up a ghostly fiddle bow in the air above the targeted creature. This bow immediately descends into the target body and begins to saw back and forth against its skeleton. Although the music produced is eerily beautiful, it causes intense pain and anguish in the victim. Each round on its turn, the victim must make a Fortitude save or take 3d6 points of sonic damage and a —20 penalty on Move Silently checks. A successful save negates the damage and ends the spell. The spell's effects continue even if the subject moves so that you no longer have line of sight or line of effect to it.

So now that we're officially going back to Dominaria, How different should we expect it to be?
Making it entirely new with minimal mechanical revisitations would defeat the purpose of even making it a thing; how disappointing would it be if we only saw names long-forgotten in the flavor text and the game doesn't mechanically resemble the way it did over ten years ago?

Was thinking of mastering a oneshot game set in a Harry Potter world.
The idea is to add SCP to the mix. SCP inspired with no Cthulhu tech, just plan old amnesiacs, guns and paranoia.
Need ideas for the plot. At which point of the books to insert it? What make them do? Kill Voldemort? They would play pre existent characters, let them play Ron, Hermione and Potter or someone else?
Any input?

Maybe during the time traveling caused in the 3rd book the party accedentally is caught in a repeating time loop of 12 hours and they have to save Harry from being killed by a time remnent of Voldemort. this remnent Voldemort is from the future where he was defeated and by some sort of miracle is clapsing to his existence in a point where two Harry Potters (thereby and extra horecux) exist.
This Voldemort can be a sort of Spectre, existing as only a vengeful spirit without memories, maybe make it some sort of reveal.
The time loop can seem strange at first but it's quickly discovered Harry is killed and that's the point tine repeats, with only the party remembering the events of previous loops.

years ago i came across a pdf of some kind of DnD supplement, which was just thirty or fourty pages of ingenious dungon traps.
stuff like collapsing glass ceilings, boobytrapped telescopes that would put a nail through your eye, a one-way spike pit tunnel, a chest that would collapse the roof but only around the chest/ only away from the chest.
basically a ton of tools to fuck with the party.
it was black and white and mostly diagrams of traps.
does anyone know what it's called, or happen to have a copy handy? thanks in advance.

The "you're all in a tavern" start for fantasy RPGs is still one of my favorite starts. There's something so simple and classic about it that really makes it work, and I don't think anyone at my table dislikes it.
I've also started campaigns by

The next time I run a campaign,all the PCs will know each other.
The PC's first session will start with them at the bottom of a pile of corpses that is on fire. When they dig their way out, it will be revealed that their whole village has been butchered, family and friends either taken as slaves or put to death via sword or torture, perhaps the corpse of a spouse or child either impaled on a stake or hanging from a tree by their neck. Their lives will have been ruined, their gear non-existent. They will have to scavenge what they can, avoid or kill any baddies lingering around for bits of loot, and decide where to go from there.
Vengeance, I should think. But I mean, y'know, PCs.Edginess, am i doin it rite?
