Then you need to teach him how to play into alignment instead of be a chaotic stupid. If it was an unrequited attack on the village leader, he deserved to die or at least be told that he would suffer the consequences of it.
DM shouldn't punish new characters for pushing boundaries like that. He should've had his bard imprisoned or killed on the spot and told to roll up a new sheet.

Take in consideration that I always lived far from "the hobby", being on a remote island til 18. I didn't know GW and their jewness at that time.
The more I read the book, the more I felt sad. What they did to my childhood roleplay treasure is a dumb mess.
