Here's why using James 2 to prove works based salvation is silly. (video https://youtu.be/C3QCpp2J5M0) James 2 says that we are justified by faith and works. So we need to determine if it's talking about

James doesn't just talk about faith and works giving his own opinions, he uses the example of Abraham and Isaac. Here's the quote

So according to him, Abraham was justified when he offered up Isaac. Alright, is that justification before God, or justification before man? Well, look at Genesis 21, where Abraham has Isaac. It says in verse 5

So when Abraham offered up Isaac, he was over 100 years old. Why is that relevant? Look at Genesis 12:1-4

So Abraham (at this time, Abram) was guided by God and worshiped him when he was 75 years old, yet offered up Isaac when he was over 100 years old. So if you believe James is talking about justification before god or salvation, then during those 25 years, he was apparently not justified before God. He was unsaved, and yet he was being guided by God. He wasn't justified at all until that time, and would have gone to hell if he died during those 25 years between leaving his country and having Isaac. That's ridiculous. It makes more sense that he was justified by man. A very specific man in this case, being Isaac. Isaac now believed the faith of his father, and they even offer sacrifice to God together immediately after the event. This also guaranteed that Isaac would pass down the religion of Abraham to his kids. It makes more sense and creates greater continuity with the rest of The Bible if James is talking about justification before man
