What does /o/ think about the new season?
I think they've actually been doing a pretty decent job since they dropped the annoying ginger douche. They've even had a couple of laugh out loud moments and LeBlanc, Harris, and Reid seem to be starting to have some good chemistry.
I wanted to fuck James May's ass so hard
Just a comment
>The Grand Tour wasn't so good I thought it would be
>new Top Gear is shit
wew lad...
>>16908899
I might start watching the LeBlanc one again, give it a fresh shot.
TGT is shit. I have been watching TG since the 90's, I couldn't even make it a full season of TGT.
>teaching family member to drive stick
>they downshift from 5th into 2nd
Testing out the ol' engine braking technique I see. :^))
TFW second is good all the way to 62mph
why the FUCK would you let an absolute beginner go to speeds that would require going into 5th gear in the first place?
seems like you as an "instructor" have to learn quite a lot also
>look outside
>student driver car piloted by 16 year old white girl is attempting to use your parked car to parallel park
Hit it please, hopefully total that shit. That way I can get a RWD car instead.

This desu, I love my shitbox, but it's time for something fun.

Literally this
Any Uber driver here? On any similar service?
Got an memorable story to share?
Anyways
>waiting for call
>get one
>arrive at destination
>no one in sight
>rider calls me
>'I don't see you'
>I talk to her, until I find out she's actually 10 kilometers away
>in a passing area, during rush hour
>cancel call
>go home
It's my 4th week, so it may seem trivial to long term driver, but for me, it was pretty memorable.
I'm interested. Bumping
>>16908318
i doubt many here are stupid enough to work (get ripped off by) for uber
Another thing that happened to me.
>get call
>no one waiting outside (as usual)
>wait for 5 minutes. Still no one
>text rider to say I'm here
>wait 5 more minutes
>no reply
>cancel call
>got another one 2 seconds later
>same dumb cunt
>managed to find her
>awkward ride
>gives me 1 star
TL;DR: I got a 1-star rating because a dumb cunt was too dumb to use the rider app.
you have changed me, /o
>be on vacation
>at hotel
>in parking lot, see 2017 mustang gt
>get hard
>go to drivers side door
>automatic
>talk shit to the driver in my head
i wasn't like this before this board and respected ppl no matter if manual or automatic, now i catch myself shit talking people with nice cars that are automatic
>>16908145
It happens. I do the same shit. I even drive an ugly shit box but I think it's cool because it sounds good, is relatively fast and is a 5 speed.
>>16908145
>in parking lot, see 2017 mustang gt
>get hard
what a faggot
>automatic
>talk shit to the driver in my head
what a cringy faggot
>>16908145
Congrats. You're now in the boy racer phase. You'll grow out of it in about 5 years and wonder why you cared how people drove their cars.
Can /o/ help me decide on a car?
I'm thinking of getting the 2017/2018 bmw 430i.
As far as I know the only requirement add-on must have is the M SPORT.
1.) Should I opt for the coupe or grand coupe for looks? I usually drive myself to work and at most 1 other person.
2.) should i wait for the Alfa Romeo Giulia lease to be reasonable by December?
What additional warranty packages do i need for 10k/36m lease from finance manager?
Thanks
why a 430?
if you want a bmw, get a 240i, it really is the last good bmw left
>>16908133
Why would you need a warranty package if you are leasing it?
How fucking dumb are you? Or are you just LARPing a CHEM-E major who just got their first promotion?
>>16908502
It just seems small. I'm only 6'1 but i still think i shouldn't get anything smaller than a 3 series.
The 4 series "looks" good to me.
also the 240i seems a lot more expensive starting at 50k. I will be checking it out though/
Redpill me on the avenger ... i found a 2014 se for sale ... i want a peace of mind car but this one looks cool ... wat do? Just get an accord?
Plastic pile of shit worst in segment
>>16907959
Tell me why faggot.. will it leave me stranded on the road? It has 58000 mileage from a major dealer...
>inb4 get a charger
>>16908018
Because it's made out of plastic and by one of the most notoriously unreliable brands?
It won't leave you stranded at 58k (it's not a Volkswagen), but it'll be worse than every other car you could buy.
What can car makers and engineers do to keep manual transmissions competitive in the modern day /o/?
It used to be that it took more skill to be a good competitive driver because you had to have the skill to operate a stick shift. Manuals used to get better mileage, were cheaper and easier to repair, and most importantly faster than the slushboxes of old. Now any old fart can be just as fast as you just by pushing a pedal. Skill, motor coordination, and quick movement are no longer rewarded.
How do we go back to the good old days for vehicles?
>>16907840
You're confusing skill with habit.
>>16907882
Why do you think there is such inconsistency in quarter mile times with manuals depending on the driver? Some people can just shift faster and smoother than others. Automatics are much more consistent.
>>16907909
>driving a car in a straight line

Is this real?

Is this post real? Because it's stupid as fuck.

>looking to downsize from my Jeep for better fuel economy and something easier to work on
>search craigslist for something before emissions laws and without a V8
>find an old 1966 Dodge Dart (body style of 2nd, color of 4th)
>225 slant 6
>3 speed auto
Any of you guys have or have had a Dart? It's decently priced, lower miles, good condition with very little rust. From what I've read those old slant sixes were pretty reliable too.
I want to call the guy tomorrow to go check it out but wanted some thoughts first. I'd have no issues doing repairs as I've limped my 35 year old Jeep these last 30k miles on its worn out 360 with minimal issues or complications.
>>16907695
how do you expect to get good milage out of a 50 yo car?
what the hell kind of jeep were you driving
>>16907695
>From what I've read those old slant sixes were pretty reliable too.
My aunt had a dart back in the 70s. It was indeed, a good motor. Rusted away tho.
>>16907695
I have a 74 duster which is almost the same thing (different body ofc)
>>16907749
>how do you expect to get good milage out of a 50 yo car?
If it's a single barrel he can get pretty good mileage out of one assuming he doesn't push it too hard.
01 VW Passat- why does it have a turbo stock? 1.8 L
>>16907609
because it would barely be able to move without one
>>16907609
because VW is based AS FUCK and likes to make all their cars fun and quick to drive no matter what they cost.
>>16909825

>"VW is based AS FUCK and likes to make all their cars fun and quick to drive"
2019 Tesla model R, will be faster than a model S,... why?
>>16907544
Why not?
No roof -> better ventilation -> better battery cooling -> explodes several seconds later -> reaches higher max velocity.
>employ brightest minds in tech and engineering
>produce same shit in slightly different packages for a decade
Do these work? Do they feel anything like a stick?
Paddle Shifter/"Semiautomatic" thread
No, you are basically suggesting that the car shift, but in the end the car will decide if it wants to or not depending on the situation.
>>16907549
This, they nanny the fuck out of you.
>>16907549
When I drove my first paddle shifter, I thought that I would be able to throw it in sport mode and then control my shifts with a click. Turns out the shifts happen like half a second after I click upshift when at redline. Also, I can't do quick downshifts.
What a shitty system.
Hey /o/ how stupid would it be to buy a manual car if i never set foot in one
>>16907526
Get a shitbox if you really want to, and learn how to drive a manual. Don't get something new if you're going to be fucking up the transmission with inexperience.
In this one and only case, I'd suggest you truly, TRULY get a 3k shitbox civic.
If you have no way to take it out of the lot, very stupid
If you cannot practice driving manual at all then see if you could arrange a tow truck to get it to your house when you buy it and practice it in your neighborhood
Or go on craigslist and find the cheapest manual trans beater that runs for ~$500-1000 and drive it into the ground to get the hang of it before buying your DD
>>16907526
just ask the guy you are buying it from to teach you, if its a lot they definitely will, otherwise throw the guy an extra 50$ or something to teach you
Hey guys. I'm buying my first car andam seriously considering an '87 Jeep Comanche. I read in other forums they're reliable and wondered what you guys think. It's in real good condition and is inspected until 2018.
>>16907520
it'd be cool but the gas mileage would be shit and you don't have obd2 to diagnose any problems.
>>16907520
Boy did these things RUST in the rust belt.
