In translation, does Chinese literature still stand up on its own right as well written, and worthy? Does it have merit besides historic significance (especially to the region of China) and/or sheer length and complexity of many of the works? I'm thinking mainly of the long epics, such as Water Margin or the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Hawkes' Story of the Stone (dream of red chambers) is the only one I would recommend to someone without specific interest in China, just as a work of fiction.

Stop posting Chinese literature on 4chan unless you read it first. Like Bloom said, white people can't into it.
>>
>>9516343
White people can into it, you just have to put in an ounce of effort unlike muh English/easily translated Yuro lit.

Haven't read enough of it to form a solid opinion, but I enjoyed Butler's There Is No Year.

I dig the general surrealist, absurdist type of stuff tho

We need more of it and less pseudo-elitist posturing bullshit, as well as less escapist YA. There isn't a lot of art that captures the true confusion and cultural irreverency.

Is Jordan Peterson right about post-modernism? Is it cancer?

Does that mean Derrida, Stirner etc. are wrong and/or evil?

I'd bet money OP didn't post this as b8. Peterson is charismatic, passionate, and super alluring to mildly intelligent young men who either didn't go to a proper college or don't understand history and literature and philosophy.

I'm fine with these threads.

well? Read the first few pages and shes already going on about the fucking suffragettes. is this a good case study on why women shouldnt be authors?

not the bell jar.

Lexicographers are trying to change word Orientate to Orient, which I think is a mistake; Orientate is not attention to east - but a salute to the east, in terms of semantics.

Orient is a false word if it is to replace orientate, but can serve as a different word.

>>
>>9514336
Orientate is a shitty back-formation from the word orientation created by people who apparently didn’t realize orient was already a verb. People who say orientate need to end it.

Reading this book back in High School was one of the first times that I checked something out based on the positive endorsement of tons of people online only to be gobsmacked at how utterly BAD it was. How the hell could people actually recommend this shit?

Do you think hyperreality makes art obsolete?
16 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
But art objects are by nature simulacrum
>>
>>9513841
It makes reality obsolete and everything art.
>>
>>9513841
Reality doesn't exist, it's an ideological construct.
Art is just as 'real' as 'muh bills' or whatever ideologues classify as 'real life'.
