>ORLANDO, Fla. — The Air Force’s light attack aircraft flight demonstration is officially on the books, with an experiment scheduled this summer at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M.
>That event could be the first in a series of demos to determine the business case for a program of record, which has been termed OA-X.
>“We’re going to formally invite industry to participate,” Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein said Friday. “Bring us what you have that fits the basic criteria of what we’re looking for. We call it ‘shovel ready.’ This is not something we’re looking to do a lot of research and development on. This is commercial, off-the-shelf that we can rapidly employ.”
>At this point, it’s unclear whether the Air Force will limit its options to inexpensive turboprop airplanes or if a more advanced light fighter could be of interest. Much excitement has surrounded the Textron AirLand Scorpion since it was released on the market. The aircraft hasn’t secured its first order yet, but its low operating and acquisition costs — less than $20 million per unit and $3,000 per flight hour — could make it a good fit for OA-X.
>Other low-cost options could include the Beechcraft AT-6 or Embraer’s A-29 Super Tucano. If the service considers higher-performing entries, some T-X entrants — particularly Lockheed Martin’s FA-50 or Leonardo’s M-346 — could be other alternatives.

future of COIN maybe? Seems like that and counter-piracy/narcoterror would be the best uses.
Acquiring the FA50 as both a trainer and light attack platform makes sense to me.

A-10 replacement.
Post pics of Maks, CZ82's, etc.
Picked up a P64 a couple of days ago. The safety is a bit rough, it has a rough click to overcome about half way through its travel. Otherwise it was what I was expecting for a cheap CC gun.

cz 82 master race coming through. Such a nice pistol for $200 dollarydoos.
Just got a p64 too op, saw one at the funstore in great shape with a new trigger, 3 mags, and its original holster/in the waste and holster and snapped it up. Not sure what kind of replacement trigger it has but it's sweet, even came with the parts to revert it normal, just in case I want a 60lb double action again. Even has a nice heel release, which is really something coming from me because I hate heel releases.
Now all I need is a mak and I've got the holy Trinity of slavshit 9x18's.

Sweet P64, (OP).
There's one on its way from Impact Guns to my LGS as I type. A Wolff spring kit is already waiting on the workbench.
>>33186383
what kind of tokarev is that?
Are arsenal aks worth it /k/? I have about 1200 dollars saved up and was wondering should if I should spend it all on a arsenal ak or buy a WASR and an ar?
>>33231188
Option 2
>>33231188
WASR and an AR.
Make sure the WASR is straight and don't buy a shitty AR.
>>33231212
I'm looking at the Smith and Wesson MP Sport II or just building my own
Britbong here, what is the legality of using a weapon inside your home? Have heard differing accounts as to how uk law deals with the dismemberment of a home invader
If you felt that your life was at risk then anything is legal
>>33229357
Self defense is illegal and will get you jail time.
>>33229384
I had feared as much. Britain is so cucked
What do you fuckers do when your ptsd kicks in.
>be me
>come home
>buy nice small house in small town
>wake up with cold sweat because the siren for the local fire department is exactly the same as the mortar siren at the base i was stationed.
Wish i knew that before i bought the house.

though back in 2006 I had just arrived in Japan after being in Iraq. the local anti military protesters liked to throw fireworks and small plastic bottles full of black powder over the fence. first time I hear some of these black powder devices going off was during sports PT. I lept to the ground and covered my head by reflex. As everyone else in the unit had not been deployed since 9/11 and was used to these antics. Most of them were confused by my actions. Only a few crusty old SFCs and the first sgt knew I was just reacting out of combat zone habit.
That doesn't sound like PTSD
Like, that's a healthy reaction to a sound you associate with danger. It's more like conditioning.
>>33229995
Thats more like ptsd if you're in a place with no real threat
When you first date a girl assuming she's not a far left liberal, do you tell her you own/carry guns?
Do girls think youre a badass and alpha if you tell them this or is it mostly dudes?
they mostly think less of you
like thinking you're a redneck and shit
because let's be real you probably are
>>33219648
I tell them before we even start dating. They ask for my hobbies as I list shit off, I just include shooting, firearm collecting, etc.
>>33219663
I'm kind of an edgy emofag tho
Hello /k/, I've been writing a western story lately and I've decided I'd like to make up a gang based on the posters of this board. If you want the chance to be featured, please leave me one long arm and one side arm made earlier than 1900 for your character to carry. Please note that while cartridge guns obviously have an advantage over cap and ball, don't let that deter you from choosing them as they are used very widely in the story to varying effect.
Also, general western gun thread. Show me your awesome western guns and tell me about them. Pic related is the pistol my character carries, and my personal favourite old west sidearm.
Sounds fun, Anon. I have three ideas for characters for you.
A big, fat oaf with a Charles Daly 10 gauge side-by-side shotgun and a Colt Dragoon (or if you're OK with being less realistic, a Walker), smells bad and never shaves.
The next one is basically a late 1890's /k/ommando who has the latest and greatest gear, say, an early S&W M&P and a Savage 99 in .303 Savage and hangs around ye olde gonne shoppe. He's in his early 20s, 5'8", tries to sport a dandy musketeer stache, drinks too much sarsaparilla, and lives on his parents farm.
Last one: the grizzled, racist sheriff, whose father was a ranger. He rocks two nickel plated Colt SAAs in .38-40, which is also the caliber of his Colt Lightning carbine.
Looking forward to it, Anon! :)
>>33219357
cont./edit
Maybe as a theme the second one will be buying new guns as the story progresses, ending up with a Luger and a Browning A5?
Another idea:
A guy who just came home from the Spanish-American war with a Mauser M93 as a bring back, refering to it as his "Spanish Hornet" (a term often used) and, for some reason, a Iver Johnson .32 S&W Safety Automatic Revolver, Whenever he brandishes it, the other charecters can crack jokes about him being "a regular Leon Czolgosz".
>>33218600
Fun idea, anon! Not sure you want to make a character based on it, but my favorite wild west combo would be (ignoring practicality) would be what I think are the sexiest choices. 1862 Police and a straight razor.
So i had this quite autistic discussion about armor (which i'm gonna post if anyone is interested).
Basically my question is, can a sword pierce high quality plate mail, and if it could, would the person wearing the armor get hurt behind their chain mail and gambeson?
No.
>>33218299
I don't think so, I'd imagine that's why half swording was so common. What was the discussion?
>>33219789
what did half swords do that regular one handed couldn't? and why wouldnt you just use blunt or pick weapons?
Is the M2 an assault rifle?
>Select fire
>Intermediate cartridge
>Detachable mag
Seems to meet the criteria.
Yes, but it isn't often classed as one because it predates the concept, in the same way that SVT40s are battle rifles but are never referred to as such. In terms of how it was used, the M2 was a PDW.
>>33215767
>design began in 1945
Pic related
>"""predates the concept"""
>>33215748
>not black
>no pistol grip
Not an assault rifle. That's a wholesome American sporting arm anon, not a weapon of war designed only to kill.
>range has a no singles policy
Is no singles a meme?
No singles as in nobody shooting alone?
Unmarried?
>>33211903
bring your dog
no range officer will think you'll blow your brains out in front of your dog
>>33211947
some ranges don't do rentals for singles cause they don't want people coming in and blowing their brains out.
Ask a cop who works in the ghetto anything.
Had thread yesterday but never got a chance to respond. Sorry /k/omrads.
I'll have two number nines
a number nine large
a number six with extra dip
two number 45s, one with cheese
and a large soda
>>33198207
Yeah, its about that time.
>>33198194
what city?
Hey /k/omrades, i'm struggling to find a good ambi setup to purchase. I was thinking about going the tavor route, since everything is reversible, but I wanted to hear opinions.
Pic related, lefty ar 15. They look comfortable but it'd be a nightmare to try to get parts for.
>>33230114
Stop it. Just close your left eye. Viola! You're now right eye dominant.
I'm right hand/left eye dominant. I just shoot long arms using my right eye and closing my left eye to take the shot.
worked just fine for me in iraq.
>>33230150
I get double vision and nauseuos after 20mins of shooting w/ right eye, so that's a nogo for me cap'n.
anyone have a p83? any experience with hp ammo that runs through it reliably. i would like to have the option of using hp if i can. I have a box of brown bear jhp right now and the first one wont feed unless i lift up on the mag. then every other round cycles fine. polished feed ram till a pin drags smooth on it with q tips and mag polish. have a new recoil spring in mail.
>>33229089
I just got one and I am about to go shoot it for then first time, do the hornady critical defense loads not work well? Also where the hell do you find magazines?
>>33229625
havent used hornady yet. i have read from two sources that it feeds and works and from another two that it has issues.
there is a pollack on gunbrocker selling them. just go on there and search p83 till u find them
blamp
I am in the market for a 9mm pistol for home defense/carry (owb or shoulder holster). My budget is about $800. I was looking at the m&p 2.0, but I wanted /k/'s opinion.

What are your thoughts on the Desert Eagle? And what are your thoughts on .50AE?
>>33228735
The top and bottom rails look terrible. They need to go back to Weaver style.
>>33228771
Agreed.
>>33228774
Other than that I think they're neat and have more merrit than people say.
