Is Lee underrated?
IMO the only reason Confederacy endured as long as it did was his military genius.
Reading about ACW and Confederacy I realized how little he had at his disposal, how great was the disparity in just about everything between North and South, and yet he frustrated his opponents time and time again. His troops had problems acquiring food, let alone everything else.

>Is Lee underrated
No, there's a reason Lincoln tapped him as the major general to lead the Union army against the Confederates. Lee refused to fight against his homeland of Virginia and denied Lincoln.
It was only the ineptitude of McClellan that led Lee to win battles and then escape during the Peninsula Campaign and later on the hesitancy of Scott after Gettysburg to pursue Lee that Lee was able to find continued success on the battlefield.
>>
>>3006805
Lee is definitely a military genius and one of the greatest generals in recent history. Sherman doesn't hold a candle with his "rape and burn as much as possible so it ends fast" "strategy".

Lincoln was a tyrant.

Can Plato, Aristotle, Heraclitus, Pythagoras and others be baptized? Considering that Justin Martyr, Clement of Alexandria thought they were proto-Christians or at least prophets? I know Plato is revered by one Romanian Orthodox Church.

Can you still be baptized after you're dead? Or do you have to be alive to be baptized?

Heraclitus a proto-Christian, lol.

Literally saying that no god made the cosmos, but a proto-Christian.
>>
>>3006576

No, redemption after death can't be possible, otherwise Hell would be empty.
>>
Only Mormons do that to my knowledge, and it is a bit out there whether they are Christian or not.

Also, early Church fathers more or less just crowbared Hellenistic thinkers into Christian metaphysics.

Hello /his/

I am currently setting up a budget with my expenses and incomes.

Some few years ago, I read something about what Aristotle said about wealth. It goes somewhat like this: we need money because if we're poor we have to rely on others and this would threaten our moral integrity at times.

Now I am looking for the exact quote of Aristotle about this subject and have not found it on the web. Can some erudite scholar help me out?

Is it true that Britain went behind Northern Ireland's back and offered it to the Republic during World War 2 in return for the ROI joining the allies?

Seems like a dick move for a country they cared about keeping.

It was without substance which is exactly why devalera told them to go away. The pitch was essentially
>Let us use your ports and maybe we'll see about giving it back to you, no preconditions though, we'll work it out after this is over
>>
Verbatim the request was
>"Now is your chance. Now or never. 'A Nation once again'. Am very ready to meet you at any time. "
It's not exactly a tangible or definite offer which is why De Valera declined

didn't Churchill suggest France join the UK after the war ,surely theirs little substance to these offers?

>The film asserted that the Ming Dynasty's ban on maritime activities alluded to the building of the Great Wall by China's first emperor Ying Zheng. China's land-based civilization was defeated by maritime civilizations backed by modern sciences, and was further challenged with the problem of life and death ever since the latter half of the 19th century, landmarked by the Opium War. Using the analogy of the Yellow River, China was portrayed as once at the forefront of civilization, but subsequently dried up due to isolation and conservatism. Rather, the revival of China must come from the flowing blue seas which represent the explorative, open cultures of the West and Japan.
What do you think about this documentary?
5 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I think isolationism is the best policy for China back then and today. Modernity leads to degeneracy.
>>
>>3006366
>>3006646
Ming was not isolationist, they just cared about monitoring and regulating trade so that the government could get its taxes. Ming buying of silver from Peruvian mines helped fund Spanish colonization of the Americas, after all.
>>
>>3006646
Better a developed society with degeneracy on the sides than stewing in the backwaters until somebody who innovated far more than you comes along and inflicts their degeneracy on you anyway.

Sure, oppose whatever degeneracy you see in your life. I do the same.
But we're only here for a short while. It's unlikely that we can benefit from innovation.

On the scale of history listing degeneracy as a concern is absolutely ridiculous. It always gets rinsed out regularly as trials are encountered anyway.

Marx was Jew, so technically yes.

Bolsheviks were a fucking fraction in early Soviet politics, not a coherent ideology. And no, Menshevisk were the ones with notable Jewish influence.

Ask yourself anon, if Jews, despite being a minority, take up much of the middle class in Russia at the time and the middle class more than any other class trended left, is it any surprise that many bolsheviks AND mensheviks were Jewish? Seems pretty likely. If you look at the individual history behind many of the characters /pol/ cites as Jew agitators for communism, their lives are pretty benign and they just come off as disgruntled middle glass intellectuals. Middle class intellectuals (for better or worse, I'm not a commie) have always drifted left, whether they be Jewish, French, American or otherwise.

And further to the point, if we assume that the majority of bolsheviks were Jewish (which isn't exactly true), does that make their movement 'jewish'? I'm going to say no. I wouldn't call America a deist nations because many of its founding fathers were deists or influenced by them. The majority membership of a group (especially a group that was against religion in general) doesn't automatically make that group for the trait that the majority share.

Make your own conclusion anon, don't let /pol/ or /leftypol/ inform you about this.

You'll get bored quickly and move on to some other youtube video, probably about tanks.

Mormons have the same debates about the Book of Mormon as Catholics or Protestants do about the Old and New Testaments. Some will say it's literally true and any evidence to the contrary is a trick of Satan, others will say that it's a testimony of faith, not a book of history. The LDS church position is moving further away from literal truth, but still wants to find historical accuracy (i.e. now they claim that the Americas weren't necessarily unpopulated before the Hebrew tribes arrived.)
