Lets be serious the theory that Columbus is from Genova is none sensical.
First of all Columbus was married to a noble women from Portugal and the marriage was done under the approval of her father.The chances of a poor Genovese sailor marrying a noble women are clos to zero.
Second of all if you look at the name of the places that Columbus discovered all had names from places from Galicia.Why wouldn't a Genovese name places after the place he grew in? And why did he just put Galician names? His crewe were mostly Andalusians and Basques so he didn't name it due his sailors.
And lastly Columbus letters confirmed that he had the same bias writting Latin and Castillian as a Lusophone or a Galician speaker and the surname Columbus was pretty common in Galicia back then looking at church archives.
So who was Columbus in reality?

Lets say that a duchy suddenly becomes independent. It seperates from it's kingdom, and is in no relation to any other kingdom either. The duke of said duchy now has no supperior, he has no one above him in the hierarchy. Basically ot becomes "free teritory not bound to any kingdom whatsoever. What happens to the duke of the said duchy now ? Does he automatically become a king, and the duchy a kingdom ? Does he have a right to crown gimself a king ?
What happens to him and his duchy ? Lest's say it happens around 14-15th century.
