Linux fags will say it's botnet and shit. Now i made a mistake because i didn't include GNU. Fucking autists

It's still ricing
13 inch vs. 15 inch laptop for CS
Which and why?
>>58998462
Golden rule is your laptop's display should be twice as big as your dick. I'm still rocking a 17" MacBook Pro from 2010
>>58998488
so, a 7" one for me? fuck
>>58998462
My girlfriend complains that 8.5" is a bit uncomfortable. But, I'm no thin client, either. So, just take my time, warm her up and go slow. We both happy.
No fucking idea what I'd do with 13". Probably be up on murder charges.
What makes SystemD so bad?
The REAL reasons:
>1. It is too mainstream, I am a special snowflake, Won't use Arch or 'flake distros, they are too different. SystemD made my distro different and I just want to go back, I keep telling people linux is about learning but I won't learn this because hey I'm better than you
>2. Jerked off a little bit too hard with other hippies in the forums with distros with professionals making these choices and I think I'm in charge
>3. It's just too new, I'm a neo-luddite and don't like very small changes and improved speed, however I don't see anything wrong with grub2 from grub or lilo or pulseaudio or fucking anything else because I didn't jerk off with other hippies at the time and didn't have any false sense of self importance. Now I spend most of my time googling "HOW TO INSTALL GRUB2 MODIFY ON SYSTEMD WHICH SUCKS DEBIAN UBUNTU REMOVE PLEASE HELP"
>4. Linux is about freedom, which means freedom to be a loser and retarded hipster and the freedom to make a shitty hipster nu-distro that nobody uses and will die in less than 5 months
>Hold on, just a second.

>>58997301
I dont really have a problem with systemd I just like OpenRC and init.d scripts better, its just easier to manage, especially since I deal with both GNU and UNIX
>>58997301
Good thread. I don't think anyone here actually thinks systemd is good but they're forced to use it through shitty foresight of devs.
>>58997352
systemd is far from perfect but it's certainly an improvement from sysvinit.

How do you do that? How come he hasn't killed himself out of boredom or worthlessness yet? He has chosen not to have a wife or kids, he has chosen to disengage from the field he studied in (ffs he doesn't even use a web browser in 2017), and he spends his life essentially traveling to universities in Sudacaland to talk about the same 3 talking points to a bunch of BR fucks.
Honestly, I'd probably hang myself or OD on pain medication by this time. Why is he so unmotivated to improve his life? You know he can't live a very good life on FSF bucks alone.
He's doing God's work
>>58997202
He's not very materialistic. He doesn't care about possessions or looks (or hygiene)
He cares about what he believes is the most important, and that is the triumph of freedom
>>58997351
Is it though? He's not saving kids in Africa, he's making sure some upper class kids have source access to their software packages.
>>58997354
I get how being an ideologue is fun, but it's not like he's championing freedom of the people. Software freedom, no matter how important, will never be comparable to economic or political freedom. He's not Robin Hood or fucking Ghandi. He's some dude picking at his feet while saying, "Free as in freedom, not as in free beer."
Is C++ still a marketable skill?
>>58996643
not really, its a legacy skill
C++ should just be one of the many languages you market yourself as experienced or proficient in
Yes. But not if you want to get into anything that is considered trendy. Not that that's a bad thing though.
I need help. The other day, I found an iphone laying on the ground, and there wasn't a single person around, so I took it home. I got it fixed, but the owner erased and locked the phone so I can't get in. Is there anyway I can factory reset the phone without the original owner's apple ID and password?
No, and you're a bigger fucking retard than that kid.

Xiaomi Mi 5c leaked. All buttons under the glass.
that is too bad, physical buttons are nice
How do buttons under the glass work? Does it click like the Blackberry Storm?
Who fucking cares.
Hi /g/ang, I just installed WordPress to my server and looking to build a cool website. I know the basics, but what are some good plugins and what are so awesome themes I could make my own?

>>58995448
I'll post there later
>>58995474
Ha ha ha my body is ready
What are some interesting 'alternate' storage methods?
>>Sim Cards
you can get as many free 'unregistered' business sims as you want, and each can store atleast 250 contacts @ 14 chars name & 20 digit numbers each. assuming each char or digit is 1 byte, thats 8.5k of usable storage. you would need around 118 of them to store 1mb of data (broken up over 59,000 entries)
>>58995292
>>Barcodes
1D Barcodes cannot store much more than a few hundred bits per inch.
2D colour Barcodes can apparently store upto 2k per inch
>>58995335
>>Magnetic cards
Magnetic cards can apparently store around 200k over 3 tracks (although the writer is expensive)
>>58995342
>>NFC Tag
cheaper NFC tags can only store around 144 bytes. High capacity tags can store around 480 bytes
wtf is this true
Yes.
>>58994610
upskirt laws, yeah
>>58994610
i guess i'm in trouble
So, now that they have been out for a while and everyone has had time with them. Which do you recommend?
I honestly am leaning towards the Vive, because of the room scale experience, even if it appears to be gimmicky in some games. I heard that Facebook shelled out cash to make Rift have a better selection of games. Is there a way to play Oculus games on vive? I know there is a thing called Revive, but how reliable is it?
>>58994548
Vorpx is what you'll be using most of the time, and the selection is quite thin. The "built for VR" games are typically not very good, by which I mean I haven't found one I enjoy but you might. Really, here's where the real meat of the experience is:
1) Playing Soul Calibur 2 on Dolphin in VR
2) Watching (usually bad) pornography
Do you really, really like either or both of those things?
>>58994590
>Vorpx
>most of the time
That shit is fucking horrible, only found it useful for emulating a 3D TV. Games designed from the ground up with VR in mind are far superior.
>Watching (usually bad) pornography
I can agree with this SBS video sucks ass, rendered is far better until a better form stereo video is released.
>>58994548
Haven't bothered with reVive so I cannot comment on its reliability. Much rather not spend a cent on oculus games when it is uncertain whether they will implement future patch that would fuck you over since Vive is not officially supported.
I would recommend waiting for a better solution if you have the patience, but if you are hard pressed to try one I'd recommend the Vive especially if you want roomscale.
There is a wireless module coming out for the Vive along with a better headstrap module and better controllers. Can't wait for the new controllers in particular since the tactile grip buttons suck major ass, and the Headstrap is just awfully fiddly and elastic shifting the sweetspot when looking down. New rigid headstrap should remedy that and make it simpler to fit on your head.
the front heavy weight distribution is an issue that won't be fixed until a new miniaturized model comes out.
>>58994548
Vive no question. Try visiting /r/Oculus sometime and you'll see what a clusterfuck Oculus' tracking is and all the issues people are having unless you want a purely front forward VR experience.
I don't recommend buying a Vive at this point though. Wait for the other Lighthouse headsets to be announced unless you can find one used for a good price.
whats the best c compiler
Whatever Microsoft's C compiler is called for Windows (because only Microsoft knows how to deal with Microsoft's bullshit), GCC for everything else.
Did you mean IDE?
>>58994519
gcc and clang because IDEs are too bloated.
>>58994549
Goy don't you mean the INTEL(R) COMPILER?
Most of the world is using Intel(R), why not optimize your programs for it? Who cares about free software or performance on inferior AMD chips?
I moved into a new house and this thing is here. What is it? I can't see it's name just numbers and shit. Do I need to hook it up to my own modem?
>>58994348
it's a botnet, you probably need to install linux to get it to werk
ONT
yes
>>58994348
install gentoo on it

Say bye bye to almost every piece of UI features, officially stated by Mozilla guy Jorge Villalobos.
Guess what, Google's minimalist and simple design and feature set has won. A terrible day for all lovers of features! And no, restricted replacements are NOT good enough.
>>58994267
stop using firefox
>>58994292
I have. Installed Otter-Browser with QTWebkit last week. Works good enough.
But i feel sorry for all power users out there who really are hit by all that shit Mozilla pushes trough their large fans.
Only autists on /g/ will care about not being able to rice Firefox
