I have a three year degree in computer science and I fucking hated it, I did not even bother finishing the fourth year to get a better degree.

Now that I finally have a desktop for the first time in 10 years, I want to get a quality capture card so I can transfer my parents home movie VHS collection. svideo would be a nice bonus input. Are there any decent cards out there they arent gaymen expensive? Most reviews I see for any card always seem to be negative.

these are both probably obsolete questions, i haven't touched any capture hardware since the mid-2000's, and even then better ones could do those
as for quality, VHS is seriously as bad as it gets, even the most basic, composite-only, mpeg2 stream capture card will do VHS justice and some, VHS is much lower quality than composite, s-video is pure overkill and will add nothing
