would be a nice job for the RPi.

still an ECU. most people think there's only one ECU and it only takes care of the engine while in reality there are dozens.

I've seen a few posts about this laptop and I decided to try and get one cheap. I already had a desktop so I just needed something light.

People shit talk the hell out of this laptop because it has chromeOS and somehow that makes it "worthless". All my programs are working under flawlessly under crouton and wine, however I have not tried FL studio yet.

I've spent about 4 hours on the one I just got and I have all my retro games (C&C Generals, Halo PC, old Popcap games, all working flawlessly).

It does get hot, and I've getting around 4-5 hours of battery, but everything else is so damn nice for the price.

Screen is as good as you would want, The keyboard is great, the touchscreen is nice, it's fast as fuck in chromeOS mode, it shits on a macbook in terms of build quality, amazing speakers, and it just looks nice.

I hit one key combo and I can switch between macOS quality web browsing to a capable linux machine.

it's a hell of a nice machine for sub $400 but the thing that kills it for me is that you can't upgrade the storage.

that does not really work. you need to disable javascript too because it redirects to the ad when you click something unless you open everything in new tab from the menu it will still redirect if you use the middle button for opening it. might not redirect sometimes but then you have to click the links twice.

Lol, just found this on Reddit, got a good chuckle

>I'm 15 years old, installed Gentoo, when I was 12 (I remember being too young to join the forums) and stayed, because it was awesome. Binary distros was hard to manage, and updates were slow. Gentoo just worked. I use it for desktop, hardest part is resolving the conflicts, otherwise it is really easy to maintain, even if you use patches or want the latest version of some packages. I like, that I can filter licenses in the make.conf, so it is not going to install proprietary software, without my awareness.

Pay toilets are nasty, and ought to be illegal. Those of us who are not poor can afford the price, if we accept the practice; poor people can't. To deny people access to a toilet when they need one is nasty and degrading.

I have concluded that the least we can do, to eliminate pay toilets, is to avoid giving them money. Instead of paying them, I go to great lengths to find some other toilet.

Please join me in rejecting pay toilets firmly.
>>
I asked in the previous thread and it got derailed by toilets.

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 17.04 on a thinkpad t470 and on the livecd it says I'm connected to wifi, but I have no internet. I plugged in the ethernet cord and it just loads forever, no connection. I'm the same guy who tried to install debian and got nowhere. I don't really know what to do and I'm pissed. Wat do?

Copy pasting in this thread because there's two now.

/pcbg/: Post your component list; rate other anons'; ask questions in general.

>Assemble your parts list with price comparisons & compatibility filter.

THEN state the PURPOSE of your PC & BUDGET. State COUNTRY if not USA.
List GAMES/SOFTWARE you use often. List resolution & hz if gaming.

CPUs:
>G4560 - budget builds (<$500) unless G4620/i3-7100 is heavily discounted
>R5 1500X - generally all you need for 60fps with power to spare. No i5
>R5 1600 - best value for higher fps gaming & mixed usage; 1600x if you don't want to OC
>i7-7700k - bad value but good; may have heat issues even at stock clocks
>R7/Xeon - compute/MEGAtask/mixed use

Graphics:
>G4560 iGPU is fine for LoL, dota2, rocket league, etc
>1050Ti/RX560 at ~$105. Drop settings if not Freesync/Gsync on newer games
>RX570 4GB - 1080p@60+hz, running most maxed; older games at 144+hz
>RX580 8GB - 1440p@60+hz, inject SMAA & drop settings for some games
>1060 - Generally outperformed by the RX 580 and GSync costs more; consider only if AMD is not an option (ie CUDA)
>1070 - 1080p@144hz/1440p@100+hz
>1080 - 1080p@90-144+hz maxed; 1440p at lower hz.
>1080Ti - 1440p@90-144+hz; 4k@60hz in SOME games, more at lower settings
>Freesync2 & Vega soon

General:
>READ PRODUCT REVIEWS to see if that cheap SSD/PSU or whatever is reliable
>Consider larger SSD-only for what you budget SSD+HDD combined. Add HDD later once needed
>NVMe aren't for faster OS boot. They're primarily for productivity as a scratch disk
>Stop fucking confusing any M.2 drive with NVMe. M.2 is a form factor
>Go mATX form factor for cheaper board+case
>1 SR DIMM is slower than 2 DIMMs
>Good air cooler is almost always wiser than an AIO

AMD's apu's are pretty much the best out there. Intel literally signed a deal a few months ago to have AMD produce all their igpu's.

Anyways no, none of the zen chips are apu's, you have to wait until octoberish before those versions come out (pinnacle ridge or something)

What reason would they actually have to do this? Is Lenovo INTENTIONALLY trying to make the Thinkpad brand worse?

I don't think the new "Thinkpad" department knows what their selling points should be.
So, they slowly copy the Ultrabook style to it.

these are overpriced, bulky, generate heat and consume way too much electricity (=money)
