So this guy takes his computer to Geek Squad for computer repair and the FBI is alerted they found CP on it. A warrant is issued and boxes of evidence are removed from his house. A judge reviews the evidence and throws out pretty much all of the evidence because the geek squad informants had such a close relationship with law enforcement that a warrant was needed to find the initial file in unallocated space on the hard drive.
The thing is, you don't find really don't really find file fragments by accident unless that was the service that was being paid for. Some time ago I download a chunk of the do/kument before looking at the contents and deciding "ugh, nevermind."
The NSA must posses the greatest collection of porn ever and certainly has given hashes from that collection to the FBI. It is natural to assume that hashes for other files of law enforcement interest would be searched for.
I assume automated data recover tools can take local control of HDD heads to read file fragments from between the tracks. An encrypted file system would protect my data. I should use encrypted containers for everything I do.
Duh, I guess.

Technocracy is a system of governance where decision-makers are selected on the basis of technological knowledge. Scientists, engineers, technologists, or experts in any field, would compose the governing body, instead of elected representatives.

FreeVMS (OpenVMS clone) is looking for developers. FreeVMS (VMS stands for "virtual memory system") is not just another Unix, is a real-time operating system with tight integration with the base system, DCL (DIGITAL Command Language), and also perfect for routers.
Developers are welcome!
Main page http://www.freevms.net/
Github mirror https://github.com/ztmr/FreeVMS
>>60537581
Why would you want to do that? The only thing VMS had going for it was its stellar implementation at a time when other systems were lacking, but that was a long time ago and most other systems have caught up.
>>60537999
It is still an interesting system to explore, have you used a VMS before?
>>60538167
I've been trying it out a couple of times, and I have to say I don't quite see the attraction. I'm much more attracted to systems like Minix or Plan9 instead. I haven't used VMS extensively, but neither have I seen anything that would make me want to try it out more extensively.
Pens are technology?
What pen is this and what cartridge do I buy?
looks like some type of fountain pen, op.
Yeah, looks like it. It has Parker on it but when I look at their website none of them look quite like theirs and the nibs are definitely different. I wonder if cartridges are interchangeable between brands?
>>60537969
i'm sure there are third parties that make cartridges for some brand name pens. best of luck, op.
Thinking about buying a miner. Does /g/ mine?
The ship has sailed on mining and making money.
The stupid money has already bought up the easy coins.
>>60537505
why do people bother mining at this point? other than russians in siberia who use miners for heating.
>>60537505
bitcoins are going to the moon, hobby mining is starting to get profitable again
with the right rig I can get a ROI at exactly 6 months. MUCH MUCH shorter if BTC keep going up.
