I have a question for you. I believe it belongs here as its an issue enabled by technology.
As you know the UK has some of the most invasive and draconian surveillance laws in the world. Yet all this security apparatus failed to catch a terrorist who went on to commit one of the worse terrorist atrocitys the UK has ever seen.
Q1: Are these surveillance laws justified ?
Q2: If its found out this bomber used encrypted means of communication are further actions against encryption justified, perhaps a ban ?
Q3: How can we technology enthusiasts remain resilient against `certain` politicians who will seize on this, and seek to undermine technology ?

At least Xfce has done some decent work to port their apps to GTK3 in the last months, however it's still gonna be a long time until we'll see Wayland support. But having any alternative to GNOME in the long run which is not just a weeb ricing platform is preferable.
