Manjaro GNOME
>>
>>60538230
If you can click on buttons, you can install and use any popular distro.
>>
>>60538599
Linux mint installation is literally for idiots.
Even a RetardLord from the Valley of the Meh could install that glorious OS in your spermstained laptop.
Now download that fucking iso in a pendrive and BE A FUCKING MAN.
>>
>>60538600
this

xubuntu is straight forward, works good out of the box, and would be pretty intuitive coming from Windows.
>>
you only need to be intimately familiar with python
>>
>>60538230
I felt like that too
but then I installed i3 and there were no little Windows Icons and GUIs everywhere for everything
And I learned
And it was easy

"Linux" isn't Windows

Install debian + i3
>>
Linux Mint or Elementary OS.

You don't really need to tinker with those at all. I use the latter for work for that very reason.
>>
>>60538680
i3 should be at least optional everywhere
>>
>>60538637
Fedora is even easier. They literally give you the software specifically designed to make the install media for Fedora.
>>
>>60538230
Just install noobuntu. It's literally made for tech illiterate.
>>
>>60538230

fucking hell man my grandma uses and loves cinnamon mint.... youll be fine
>>
>>60538230
Linux hasn't been hard for at least 5 years now. Try mint, and click next when it tells you to.
>>
Kys after severe period ofdepression from financial woes incurred by buying into the Apple cult. You might actually become productive, make a shit ton of money, and end up doing a life-ending dose of yayo and third-world hookers.
>>
>>60538230
Why tinker? Just find a beginner distro you like and use it?
>>
>>60538230
Don't kill yourself.
>>
If you can read use a mouse to click a NEXT button then you can install Ubuntu or Linux Mint.
>>
Learning GNU/Linux isn't about not being stupid as much as it is about having patience to read the fine manuals.

If you are able to learn using a manual then you'll likely be able to learn how to use GNU/Linux.

>>60538590
>install gentoo
And seriously, do this. Gentoo is a very hard distribution to maintain and I do not recommend it for a beginner. I really don't.

Gentoo has a very handy handbook that let's you install it by typing in shell commands. You'll learn from doing this. As I said, it's not for beginners and you should probably install something like Fedora or Ubuntu or Linux mint as your first distribution afterwards. But you should install gentoo once for the learning experience.

My 68 year old mother uses Fedora and she can barely work her TVs remote control. I'm sure you too can figure out how to use it.
>>
>>60538230
>Frogposter
Yes, you definitely should kill yourself.
>>
>>60538230
Drive your car off the road so people will think it was an accident. That's what I would do if I had a driving licence.
>>
>>60538230
>How do I kill myself?
by installing gentoo
>>
Install Antergos
Literally just click next to everything and thats all
>>
Why isn't anyone OP's question?
>>
>>60538230
It's just that you're not stupid enough to tinker with linux.
>>
>>60538230
You could always get a mac. BSD unix with Apple's gui over it. Dead easy to use. Window virus's don't affect it.
>>
>>60538637
Every major distro has the installer at that level
>>
>>60538230
>How do I kill myself?
helium masks.

to chill off, just do it now get it over with.
You can get all you need off of amazon for ~100$ and it is 100% painless.

I would simply like to interject for one second. What you're calling Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've of late taken to calling it, GNU and Linux. Linux isn't an operating setup unto itself, but actually another free piece of a completely working GNU setup fashioned into something practical by the GNU core libraries, terminal tools and essential setup components completing a full OS as described by POSIX.

Quite a few computer users use a subspecies of the GNU setup daily, without knowing. Through a strange happenstance, the version of GNU utilized currently is often called "Linux", and a substantial number of the users are not aware that it is basically the GNU setup, produced by GNU.

There actually is a Linux, and this population do have it installed, but it is simply a part of the setup they use. Linux is really the core: the program in the setup that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The core is an essential part of an operating setup, but useless by itself; it is only operational in the environment of a whole operating setup. Linux is normally utilized in combination with the GNU operating setup: the whole setup is basically GNU with Linux added on, or GNU/Linux. Every one of the alleged "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Open source has better branding.
If you are pitching the concept to a company to make one of their consumer products open source, they are much more willing to do it and the conversation will center around the technical aspects.
If you pitch the concept as free software, they will hear, "non profit" and recoil with fear and start to talk about how to make money from the project.

Stay with Windows or move to macOS. There is no reason at all to use Linux.

>Only one good DAW
>errors all over the place

Linux is just a thing people use when they want to look like a l33t hacker for no reason.

i3 is good to install after a while, first he should use non-tiling wm to at least enjoy linux
>>
>>60550498
I never enjoyed linux until I stopped thinking these GUI for aptitude and settings and network etc worked

With a tiling wm + dmenu + a good terminal + firefox to google when you're in trouble, you learn fast and you start to enjoy being able to control most things from GUI, especially once you realize it's faster than otherwise

He won't chose xfce, he'll get KDE or Unity, and that's bad
