Are wolf pups friendly?
THEY DOGS
No and don't even try to adopt one. They may look edgy but they're shitty pets. Stick to dogs.
yes

Perhaps we are closest to penguins?
From a rational perspective, I wonder what the penguin is actually doing, if the claims are true that it spends hours staring at it.

Maybe because it's a new thing in the enclosure that he's fascinated with it
according to /a/ it's a clickbait with some false information, but I'm too lazy to research further.
Why did Europeans exterminate the wolves?
Because they decided to replace them with the human equivalent
>>2368104
first post = best post
In Russia wolves are far from being exterminated. As you remember (I hope), part of Russia is European. Western Europe is settled too densely - no place for wildlife.
Why do we allow stupid people to own exotic animals again?

Why didn't the doggo protect her?
>>2365327
Muh freedoms.
Also girl in video isn't stupid. I've been following her channel for a while and she seems very knowledgeable on animal behavoir. I suppose shit like that happens once in a while. It's quite spooky.
it allows the problem to correct itself
>stands up from bed
>ratto jumps onto bars (pic related)
>walking by, ratto reaches out desperately trying to clasp my pantleg
>>2364845
I hope you have more than one. Rats are social animals. He does that because he's suffering for companionship.
>>2366905
>He does that because he's suffering for companionship.
I have a pair of males that get to free-roam daily and they still do that shit every time I make a noise, like they've been locked in their (large, well-decorated) cage for a month straight.
That said, rats SHOULD be in at least pairs.
ITT: Cool animals that you wish were domesticated.
Badgers are mad cute. But viscous as fuck.
Dat long lifespan!
Also some neat guard cat potential thereabouts, but maybe that's something a little bigger still.

Would a rottie be a good pet to get? Can you guys give me your experiences with rotties?
They're good, just be prepared that most rental properties won't allow that breed to live in their apartment complex.
>>2370443
What is the difference behavior wise between a pitbull and a rottweiler? And why are both so popular and prevalent in low-income areas in cities and urban areas?
>>2370603
A rottweiler has the potential to be a decent dog
I prefer having 1 over 2, i just want 1 of either a rat or guinea pig, which one?
I can have them out all day (i work from home) and when i go on holiday, i have a gal that can take them, she breeds guinea pigs so they will be entertained (guinea more than rat).
What do ya say?
>>2369851
What is your reason for not wanting 2 when you are asking about very social animals? One person does not take the place of a second rat or pig.
>>2369851
>that file name.
It's not a problem. My mice would escargot and get into the guinea pig cage all the time. The piggies just ignored them. The main concern was the mice getting into the Timothy hay.
>>2369851
I kept guineas and rats and tried to introduce them. Problem is they socialize very differently. Rats tend to get in the face of and wrestle around with a new friend, while guineas will stance and size eachother up. It just lead to the guinea getting nipped slightly and peed on by the other rat.
Unfortunately you cannot have either of those animals by itself. They are extremely social and will get depressed if they don't have a friend or your constant attention. You can try to get one male guinea (as I've found males to be more independent to the point of introversion) and see if it is fine on its own, but it most likely will develop depression.
Is this a black widow? It sure as hell looks like one and it's in my bedroom.
>>2369835
Where do you live? Yeah, looks like a widow.
Catch it and take good care of her for the rest of her life.
>>2369835
it looks angry. i'd let it be. don't want to piss them off
>>2369835
Steatoda not a widow.
What are some qt living organisms that only require some minimum maintenance?
>>2369808

>>2369808

hey /an/
im about to adopt a cat with feline herpes. anyone with experience, how bad is it? i know a few people who have cats with it that say its manageable, and they just give them eyedrops/ antibiotics when they flair up.
also, my future roommate has 2 cats, and hes worried about how contagious it is.
im going to do some more research, but i figured id ask first since this is such a slow board
Don't do it, your dick will fall off
>>2369787
Friend had one, it's perfectly treatable, just ask your vet for guidance.
>>2369787
Why
Just have it euthanized
a quick death beats endless suffering
Can animals distinguish between human languages?
>>2369717
Makes me curious if animals have regional languages like we do
Do asian elephants speak the same as african elephants?
>>2369724
I don't know about that, but I'm pretty sure certain species of whales have their own regional dialects.
>>2369724
Different groups of animals of the same species can have their own way to communicate between them.
How can I make friends with this fuck?
Idc if he becomes reliant on me. I'd keep a free-ranging pet crow. Fuck the police.
How about stop trying to buttfuck the local ecology for the rest of us?
/an/ - hurr i haet animuls & natuure giv qt pet
We had a crippled crow in our yard three winters ago. It could walk and hop through snow, and flap it's way into the lower branches of the conifers when our dog got after it. Not mortally injured, but was alone during a very brutal winter.
We have a feeder for songbirds, and it would root around and pick off casts in the snow. My wife was worried. She thinks crows are sinister.
Okay, I say, Its just going to starve and freeze. I'll put it down.
Noooo!
Then we need to make it our friend.
I put out a plate of food at the base of the feeder every day for over a week. Leftover pasta, meat scraps, veggies,. That black bastard ate well. He would watch me from 60 feet away, and by the time I removed my boots and was back in the house, he'd be eating. We noticed him flying a bit better, but then he was gone. The food went uneaten.
Today, every early afternoon, three crows come into the yard. Two lookouts, and one works the soil by the feeder. We assume it's the same bird, but of course we aren't positive. They all look alike.
Yes, goy. Feed us! We're so intelligent and you want to be our friends, goy. If you're really a friend of crows, then you will shelter us too whenever we demand it.
Every fucking day. Every single fucking day when i come home this little faggot just sits there and gives me this stupid look on his face. What should i do about him? Ideas?
Let him out to shit. That dog isn't a fagot, he's full of shit.
>>2369655
kick him every time he makes this face
problem solved
>>2369655
Make the same face back at him until he stops.
