Hey /an/
Can you identify this spider?
>inb4 brown recluse
>>2371081
Some kind of ground spider.
>>2371081
Heteropoda venatoria. Huntsman spooder.
>>2371104
So, non lethal, no webbing and eats pests. I'll just leave it there. Thanks anon.
This is Orion, a cat I found at my Uni almost a year ago. He was sitting outside and crying and my sister and I ran into him playing pokemon go. She has her own can and had picked up some wet food for her cat and it was still in her car, so we gave him some and he ate the whole can. He was super friendly and I wasn't intending on getting a cat, but I just felt something in that moment, that if I didn't take him home that day and go to the vet to see if he was microchipped (if he was just lost) I would be looking for him all summer. So I took him home, got him some essentials, and took him to the vet the next morning.
It's been a year since that night I took him home, and he is the most amazing and loving cat ever. He's just the perfect cat and I can't imagine my life without him. Don't be afraid to take a chance with friendly strays, they need love too.
He also does weird shit like this
You're a good guy, OP.

We adopted a Pomeranian who was abandoned at a grocery store parking lot in LA 14 years ago.
Poor little guy was left tied to a post with an empty food bowl for over 48 hours, and staff had no idea what to do about him - other than feed him until his owner returned - and we ended up taking him in.
After we took him to the vet for shots and to check him out, and they estimated his age to be at least 10 years old. He ended up living another 10 more years with our family, passing in his sleep in the middle of the night due to an apparent heart attack.
I still miss him.
Me and my dad just went to the Mexican market, there was this booth where I got my first rabbit 2 years ago, we had the bright idea to buy 2 more.
Skip forward 2 hours, I have no idea what to name them.
We got a brown one and a grey one, they are both babies, and they weigh basically nothing.
The brown one is crazy shy, but likes to be pet
The grey one is a bit more sociable, but hides a lot.
Any suggestions on what to name them?
Only 1 rule, has to be appropriate, I live with my younger siblings and you get the idea.

So I am going to share random animal and nature pictures that I find pleasant
Please dont be angry if I dont respond, it just means I'm not paying attention and typing would distract me.
I will keep going until I am "in state". I hope you like them.

Are shibes good boys? I always wanted one but I heard they can be very annoying
wow
>>2373966
Not at all, they do what they want and don't listen, they ruin everything and have the most horrendous howl they are meme dogs
>>2373980
Can't they be trained to behave?
Every time I have a glass of milk in my hand my lovebird tries to take a few sips and gets mad if I stop him
I know lovebirds are lactose intolerant but would one/two sips every other day kill him? I try to feed him a healthy diet aside from this
>>2373855
Most humans are lactose intolerant. Try some of that almond milk.
>>2373855
Sometimes you have to say no to the ones you love, anon.
>>2373857
>most humans
not in the good parts of the world
So i use to have rats and now i've got an empty rat cage, i want to try a different rodent, got any that could go inside a rat cage? I've been considering weasel but i've been told it's a bad idea.
>>2373751
Why would you go for a weasel over a ferret?
Also, why not just get more rats?
CHINCHILLA
videos of crows eatings eyes?
>>2373683
Bump for supreme interest. I need to see this.
t. not samefag
>>2373683
I was walking in the hills recently and I came across a dead sheep. The front of the skull was smashed and something had placed both the eyes on top of a wall. Why would a crow do this?
>>2373747
I think that was a satanist bro
So we have a canary in the house, and he sings like a motherfucker like, it hurts our ear drums. What can we do to make him sing less? Add another male to the cage? Or a different species?
ignore him when he's being loud and only give him attention when he's silent/quieter, basic reinforcement training.
>>2373641
Shoot him in the head
>get loud vocal animal
>complain that its a loud vocal animal
Why did you do this?
>this is an older picture, so don't be quick to judge her appearance in this picture.
>she's possibly a chantilly
Anyway, after we feed her, we usually just leave the room...but she comes be to whoever is available and begs them to watch her eat. I should mention that she doesn't get along well with our other cats, and is what I call her a crabby old lady.
>>2373538
Feed it.
Take it to the vet.
It's a brown recluse.
>>2373563
It has a tapeworm that eats it's food in it's stumach take it to the vet
Do you live in NorCal?
Are all horses autistic?
"Yes", but basically all animals are.
There is also like an autism equivalent in horses that a rare few are affected with just like within our own species.
>>2373792
There is no such thing as autism. There is no medical reason for being a spaz.
Thinking animals can have a medical excuse for being spazzes is itself autistic.
Autism is just code for "Spaz Pride"
inb4 "anyone I disagree with is an autist"
To prove how many spazzes there are, some spaz will now post 'autistic'.
>>2373834
Your a autist
Guys, I need your finest pictures of turkey hens (living), if possible with wings unfurled to appreciate the patterns composed by their feathers.
GOBBLES!
>>2372921
Google porters rare heritage turkeys.
The dudes selling crossbreds like they are something fancy, but he has lots of awesome pictures and a very detailed guide to the collor genetics and even a calculator for them. If you like turkeys hes worth checking out.
What are the best books/videos for training dogs? I'll be getting 2 blue heeler puppies in about a month to help me out on a small farm.
My biggest fear tends to be them chasing other peoples cattle and getting shot.
as with other herding dogs, one thing you must keep into account, is to walk them A LOT so they will not have as much energy/drive to go after cattle. One thing I've seen a couple of times, is that there are places/farms where they let your dog herd sheep (or maybe other herd animals) in a controlled environment, so the dog can fulfill his natural instinct.
American? why buy a cattle dog then?
anyway i have a cattle dog and i dont have sheep, but the paddock next to mine does. just redirect and dont encourage it and youll be fine.
also dont ignore it or it will be destructive
The best resources are professionals and hobbyists. Also, Google, "littermate syndrome"
>see a raven eating something in the grass outside of my window
>figure it's a mouse or something, but don't want to take my camera and zoom in on it to spoil my appetite
>raven flies away with the prey in its mouth, some guts apparently spilling out
>come downstairs
>raven flies by and into a tree
>my mother notes that there's been a lot of activity in that tree today, and wonders what might be going on there
>raven flies away with something big and round in its beak
>speculate that some other birds have their nest there and it's plundering it
>raven comes back and hops around in the dense ivies growing on the tree
>two blackbirds are in the tree too and start chirping loudly and wildly as the raven rummages through the ivy
>flies away, again with a big round something in its beak
>happens once more
>blackbirds can't fend it off, but this time both of them chase after it as it flies away again with another chick in its mouth
>I was counting and figure that's at least four of them now
>my mother gets pissed at the raven and chases it away when it returns afterwards, since we're done with lunch ourselves
>probably no chicks left anyway, the blackbirds also calmed down
>mother sad, tell her that's nature
RIP blackbird couple's offspring, though.
I wish I had taken some photos of the raven in flight and of the blackbirds trying in vain to chase it off, but I was having lunch myself, but here's one of one of the blackbird mother after it was already over.
>>2372802
>post this thread
>turn off PC
>hear some fervent chirping again
>blackbirds chirping angrily at the raven as it casually hops through the tree
It probably just came back because it often hangs out in the tree anyway.
We don't have a lot of blackbirds here; is there anything I can do to make sure they have better luck next time? Put up a nest box for them?
>>2372810
Looks like there was another chick left. There was more chirping outside and the raven was eating another chick in the grass before flying off with it.
RIP ;_;7
Do blackbirds eat suet cakes?
>>2372832
yes I have some blackbirds you visit mine
