Remaining calm in straining situations has been a struggle, but luckily have been able to swallow my tongue for as long as memory serves. I like the whole calm and collected persona.

Yeah. I've been sort of swallowing that for a while. It seems a role of mine is to just be nice and helpful to others and be helpful, encouraging and inspiring. Years of depression and bitterness has sort of dulled me out, so it's hard to get back into the swing of who I am. Oh gosh, where do I start? All magic(k) is using rituals, spells, language, actions, etc. to impose your will over the natural world. You're essentially using supernatural forces to impose your wants/desires/wishes/etc. in and on the natural world.

I'd argue that potency, powerfulness, or effective of a spell - lies within the occultist.

This is where naysayers or /sci/entists would argue that there is no such thing as magic (paranormal); and that there is no quantitative evidence to support such claims that it exists.

I'd say that it's difficult to quantify a human experience.

So, agian, where does the fault lie if your ritual or spell is ineffective or unresponsive? Is your will and conviction strong enough? Was the spell performed correctly? Does something need to change or be altered? Did you appease the god/deity/supernatural force/etc. in the correct manner? Is it the right time for such spells? Are you a /sci/entist and think such things are ridiculous? What is cause and effect in the grand scale of things?

The point I'm trying to make is that there is a lot to consider. Also, don't become disparaged and don't give up.

How can I say....like she acknowledges that you could be good together or even that you are worth getting to know, but something is holding her back.
