That last thread was actually pretty decent.
>What does is mean to be enlightened?
Bonus points if your answer doesn't refute anyone else's.
To be enlightened is to be ordinary.
At least this is what popped in my head right after surgery while thinking of Zen Buddhism and believing I understood it completely, then did the worst possible thing: tried to consciously understand what I understood.
In a fertile and beautiful land lived a king, prosperous and wise in the ways of the world. The king was compassionate toward his subjects, strong in his will, and was in love with the woman of his deepest wishes. Both worldly riches and the love of his people were abundantly available to the king, yet he still had doubts and times when he was unhappy. He pondered deeply the source of his unhappiness.
One day, word came to his kingdom that an enlightened man had traversed the boarders of his kingdom, and was dwelling somewhere within. The king, set upon knowing the source of happiness and always willing to entertain new ways of thinking, sent out his best rangers to find the enlightened man, that he may converse with him and find his answer.
Not long passed when the rangers returned with word that the man was outside the capital, sitting near a stream on the outskirts of a forest. It was conveyed that the man seemed to be sleeping. The king thought about this, and decided to visit the man, instead of disturbing him and bringing him to the capital by force. He set out on horseback toward the man the very next morning.
Soon, the king came to the area where the enlightened man was, and he saw him, middle aged, dressed in robe, sitting near a small, clear creek with eyes almost closed. The king observed awhile, and decided to simply ask his question. He approached the man and introduced himself as king of these lands, and relayed his wish for a discourse. The sitting man acknowledged the king, and agreed to his discourse.

Here, the king explained his dilemma, of having abundance of worldy things and love, yet finding himself at times unhappy. And so he asked, "O man, you who have devoted your life to attaining enlightenment, what is the source of true happiness, unconditional and pure?" The enlightened man smiled, and said, "That is a good question." The king waited for further answer, but none came. So he implored, "What is the answer?" and the man again smiled, and remained as he was. The king, in his wisdom, pondered a moment the mans inaction. He pondered a great while, until his thoughts fell silent, and in that moment, he realized the man in front of him had answered his question. He left that place never again forgetting the true source of happiness.
Let's have a thread about people being terrifying. I'll start.
>be waifu's dad
>be 50 years ago
>going to get pizza with buds
>step into pizza joint
>silence inside
>everyone is leaving
>waitress is deargodwhat.jpg
>morbidly obese man is rabidly stuffing pizza into his face
>he's puked all over it
>no fucks given
>waifu's dad is NOPE
>tries to discreetly leave
>getting in the car, man comes roaring out
>lock doors
>man is yanking at the handles as they peel out of there
He called the cops about this and they basically said "Nothing to see here."
Always wondered what happened to the people working inside.

why are you repeating an exaggerated story your father-in-law told you?
can't you blog somewhere else or write your shitty fiction on /lit/ or even play pretend on /tg/
>>17085406
A real life Mr. Luggs...
>>17085440
You sound fat.
>walking with younger sister
>"hey anon"
>"yeah?"
>"who was that girl in your room last night?"
>"w-what?"
>silence
Trust me, I never have girls in my house, I'm a fucking loser
But seriously, this spooked the shit out of me and I've just been sitting in the den thinking about it all day
Are children really more capable of seeing ghosts then adults?
Or was it just her imagination?
S-should I even go back into my room?
>>17084866
> silence
She's probably trolling you.
She probably noticed that you sperg out like a little wimp at even the suggestion of anything paranormal and gamed the fuck out of you, you huge fucking pussy.
>>17084866
>Are children really more capable of seeing ghosts then adults?
Yes, they are.
But >>17084909 >>17084915 have the right answer to me.
What's this pic called?
I forgot, but I've shown it to my friends and they've seen different things.
>>17084758
It's called "Getting Brainwashed".
>>17084758
"Some laughing Asian dude"
I want to start by saying I am not joking nor am I trying to deceive any of you and this leads to something unsurprising or anti-climactic or anything like that, I am just trying to get some answers for what has been going on. I am not leading anyone on to some "OH MY GOD GUYS THERE'S SOMETHING OUTSIDE I'LL BE BACK" and then never finishing anything and it's all a big letdown.
I always have nightmares. Very, very rarely do I have dreams (that I remember) that are not nightmares or otherwise unsettling to me or downright scary. I'm a 25 year old male, and I seriously get scared by some of this stuff. Once I'm awake, of course, I realize it was a nightmare and think not much of it. So, just for clarity, I am scared in the nightmare itself and can differentiate between reality and dreams.
Now, I know picture related is going to look like something out of a horror movie or some shitty youtube horror spooky creepy-pasta, but it's the only way I can convey what actually haunts me in my nightmares. I think it's a female, as it certainly has the sort of slender-ish body of one. I can't show it in the drawing but the shadows and lines she appears to be made out of kind of wriggle around a bit like it's made out of some kind of misty string. That's the best way I can describe it. Usually I find her after going through a darkened hallway that has the same wriggling that it does but more concentrated. It seems more like the absence of light instead of a shadow or something.
Can anyone even sort of think of I may be seeing or is it just something my mind has created to spook me? I showed it to my mother (she's the only one I know that's religious and that I can talk to) and she thinks it's some sort of daemon, but I wanted to ask y'all.
Not trying to create some weird copy-pasta again, seriously. I am genuinely curious as to what is going on and if anyone knows of anything at all similar. Also I'm not an artist so please no bully.

This is just my quick two cents before I go off to bed for the night.
This is most likely a result of something in your environment that has had and impact on you and your brain is trying to deal with. I believe that this "demon" of sorts is probably appearing also because of largely what you mentioned above when you talked about your brain "spooking" you.
My advice, take a long break from /x/ , avoid dwelling in darkness (literally and metaphorically), stay occupied, talk often about your nightmares with your mother if you can and if you wish.
Also, you can go to the advice board and ask how to deal with nightmares or look it up on google. I can't really give more detailed insight than that at this time.
Stay safe friend.
>>17084795
I can see everything else you said but:
>take a long break from /x/
I don't even come to this board often, honestly.
I'd say that while it's possible your dreams are being hijacked by a malicious entity, it could be something more subconscious.
I, too, have extremely unsettling dreams all the time about monsters and murderers, but after discussing it with my psychologist, we've more or less chalked it up to anxiety and general depression.
Ask yourself, are you unsatisfied with your life? Is there something else bothering you in the waking world that could manifest itself in your dreams?
Not all monsters are paranormal.
Do borax crystals have any healing/magick properties?
>>17084484
Here's a fun experiment you can do to find out!
1. Contact a deadly illness, preferably Ebola or AIDS.
2. Take a borax crystal and attempt to heal yourself with it.
3. If you die, it doesn't work.
Science!

Now that doesn't really help me now does it anon?
it only absorbs bad energies
Arkansas man says he spotted the Ozark Howler. Stories of it roaming rural parts of Arkansas have existed for generations. Pic related. It's the guy's photo.
This just looks like a shitty shoop, so have a cute pic some anon drew.
are there any recordings of the Ozark Howler's howls?
just curious if they sound like a pack of coyotes or crying wildcats
Ok /x/, I'm in Moscow for a couple of months.
What creepy shit do you recommend I check out?
I speak the language, don't look foreign, and have a lot of free time.

Oh man, I didn't see that, thanks.
Someone Knows "La Cueva de los Tallos"?
your story has a strong resemblance to the stories of HP Lovecraft

"It was better than going to the moon," said Armstrong
A friend's father was in the expedition with Armstrong. He doesn't like talking about anything regarding the expedition.
Does anyone have any more information? I really want to go there seeing as it's in my own country, but when asking people who know a bit about it(like my friend), they say that the indigenous people from the jungle know the opening to the cave but won't show it to tourists or people who have not earned their trust. They say that aliens/beings told them that the knowledge in that cave was to be given only to humanity when humanity was ready for that knowledge.
If prophecies / fortune tellers are real, doesn't that mean that time is simply an illusion and your brain and mind simply need a bit of tweaking so you can break the illusion of time?
>A weatherperson correctly predicts rain
>TIME DOES NOT EXIST!!!!!!
>>17084009
Yea I mean just look at me. I broke the barrier of times already.
I'd bring this to /sci/ but I want your opinions on the potential paranormal aspect of this theory
Here's a little info graphic for those unfamiliar
>http://www.livescience.com/28550-how-quantum-entanglement-works-infographic.html
Basically two particles can be connected from astronomical distances and travel many times the speed of light so that they can control one another
>we are somewhere else right now controlling our brains
>when we die we reincarnate into another brain
Think about it
A lot of the people who try to give a scientific explanation to magick or law of attraction or whatever like to use quantum entanglement.
It could also explain telekinesis, mind reading, and possibly divination.
I feel like I'm missing something, but it does sound plausible if it works like we think it does.
>>17084025
That's what I thought after learning about it. It's the science of fiction
I've been seeing a growing number of Asatruar on /x/. Let's talk about that.
Let's talk about all of it though, and clear the air. There are a lot of racism in Asatru/Odinism. I find this personally distasteful and wrong, because I feel that the old gods would have use judge a person by their actions rather than their skin color, but I digress. There are two sides to every coin after all, and I can't believe that so many people would feel such a way for no reason. Myself, though, I just don't see the point.
Anyway, Asatruar of /x/ come forth and banter. I am already drunk, so sorry if this has made no sense. Join me in a drink, brothers and sisters!
>>17083823
Is there a figure in Asatru that is noted for granting knowledge to humanity? Is it possible to summon such a figure (or even a servant of such a figure)?
>>17083926
Odin's realm is wisdom my friend. Talk to him, bring him a gift and introduce yourself. If he likes you, maybe he will give you a visit.
>>17083823
It is more then Racism. The Old Gods are territorial. The Gods of Egypt were in Egypt, the Gods of Rome in Rome, The Gods of Babylon, Babylon... you get the picture. So Each localities God and followers disliked the other peoples Gods and Followers.
Any ideas on what happened to me?
I was falling asleep listening to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KGMo9yOaSU
and as I was focusing on it, I heard a really loud scream, clearly in my head. I didn't have to take my earbuds out because I could tell it came from inside my head, but I have no idea what the source could be. Is this paranormal?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome
I've had this a couple times. Its pretty freaky.
Its like a scream at you. its short in length but definately there. prolly half a second long.

I don't get the picture. Please explain
>>17083568
Are you an idiot?
"There is more to our reality than our five senses can perceive. We are not God’s ultimate creation, nor are we at the peak on the evolutionary ladder. Our reality is embedded in a complex system of unseen worlds and controlled by denizens of a higher reality. The forces at work are not all good, and we’re not on top of the food chain. “Food” doesn’t have to be physical, and certain beings feed off of our emotions and energy; predominantly, chaos, wars, distorted sexual energy, emotional turmoil and fear, which they initiate and create, by working through us.
Various ancient esoteric teachings talk about a “Hyperdimensional Matrix Control System” (HMCS), each in their own way, that has influenced and controlled humanity for millennia. Don Juan, in Carlos Castaneda’s “The Active Side of Infinity”, called it “the topic of all topics“, speaking of a cosmic predator that uses man as food."
"Gurdjeff refers to the “predator” in the tale of “The Evil Magician” and the concept of “Food for the Moon”. The Gnostics maintained that the earth and material creation in general were the product of an evil demiurge, chief of the “archons of darkness“. The Shaitans of the Sufis and the Jinn in Arabian mythology are supernatural creatures who inhabit an unseen world in dimensions beyond the visible universe and interfere with humanity. Boris Mouravieff writes about the “General Law” in his trilogy “Gnosis” which influences humanity and keeps it in its place. It takes tremendous effort, awareness, and sincere self-work to “escape” the General Law and influences of the HMCS."
How fucked are we, /x/?
have you heard the good news of the gnostics or the ways of the hermetics, theurgists or even trans humanists? weve been working on the problem for thousands of years. its recurring, almost the resting state for our part of the cosmos but many have found the egress and the keys...
The solution is equanimity, yes?
