I was playing Call of Pripyat yesterday, and when i closed the game, this green line popped up and hasn't gone away since. It shows up in the desktop, in-game, in the BIOS, and even when the monitor is the only thing turned on and not plugged into the computer. It's a Samsung SyncMaster SA550 23-inch, i've had it for a few years, and i assume it's dying.
I'd like to know if there's a chance it's not the monitor (got a new gtx 970 recently, was thinking it may be defective) and if there's a way to fix it or if i should be looking for a new one already. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
OP here. After pressing the post button, i opened the photo just to check the quality, and noticed there was only one line when i should be seeing two. The thing fucking vanished.
Thanks for being so fast, 4chan. You are wizards.
Seriously now, what could be causing this? I don't want it to come back.
it's either the monitor or it's cables
try making sure the cables are fastened in tight enough and try different cables
if none of that works then the monitor is faulty
I am in Japan and have been invited as a guest speaker for an English speaking club for one hour and then an hour of answering questions. What topic should I make my speech?
They said no politics/religion/etc something not too difficult due to them all being non native English speakers, and something with perspective I can provide as a foreigner, American.

A 14 hour monologue about who is best girl.
>.. or similarities and differences between Japan and the US as seen by an American.

Bishies ^_^
what does that even leave as a topic? pretty much just cultural high jinks, right? how rituals (shopping, learning, courtship, sports, humour, greetings, etc) differ between USA and Japan.
all serious topics banned and can't go into too much depth... that sucks, i can't think of any interesting topics. oh well, i'm sure they'll be entertained by whatever you baka gaijin come up with (and if not, they'll be polite enough to not say so).
18 and in Uni, last girl I was with introduced me to your Mongolian Cartoons with AOT. I actually really enjoyed it, thought I would hate it. I enjoyed Spirited Away a lot as a kid. I liked them both for their great writing and story (in my eyes). I want to try and get more into anime, but I'm not sure where to begin really (girl is no longer an option), can you help me out with some suggestions?

coyboy bebob and samurai champloo and Black Lagoon are a good start here are some rec lists http://animu-mango.wikia.com/wiki/Anime_Recommendations
There is no reall wrong way to start. just watch whatever catches your interest and go from there
its kind of hart to recommend things with that limited amount of info
>>27435
ok, thanks for the help. Would you be able to be more specific if I went more into detail with what I'm interested in? If not, I appreciate the help anyways, /a/ is just giving me a bunch of gay porn at the moment

Does anyone know why i cant change the Windows Explorer icon? before i could just change the icons of the shortcuts and itd work. but when i upgraded it FUCKING BROKE.

What was that JPEG Degrading Website?
I saw this on /co/ the other day. I'm away from my home computer.
I can't remember what website it was that would degrade jpegs through artifact. For some reason can't think of the right search terms either. Only have found programs and plugins, not the simple page where you upload files.
Also, /wsr/ is a really great idea. I don't always want to sift through requests for cum shops and porn.

I've recently upgraded my pc to windows 10 (1 months ago) and since like 2 weeks google chrome as been really really slow. I tried reinstalling it and it helped for a couple of hours, I cleared the browsing history, cache and all that stuff. I looked at my cpu and ram utilisation while using chrome and it's never near 100% but it does still lag. I'm really lost right now I need your help. I like google chrome so please don't just tell me to switch to firefox or opera.
A couple of my friends have been having the same issue. I'm not sure how to solve it exactly, but you might try running CC cleaner and a virus scanner to double check that it isn't something malicious.
I'm watching samurai champloo for the first time.
I'm pretty new to anime, i'm almost entirely caught up on naruto, about 200 episodes into one piece.
Was told to watch samurai champloo, it seems neat so far, watching ep. 1 right now.
I watched Zach bell a long time ago, but didn't really like it. Also liked the full metal alchemist a lot, but wasn't a fan of the english dub, which is easier for me to watch (i know i know) because I watch anime when i go to bed a lot, and i can't see the tv to read subs without glasses.
Any other recommendations for a relatively new anime watcher?

Can anybody recommend any serious manga/anime such as Ghost in the Shell:SAC?
Preferably none of those over-the-top shounens or the sexualized ecchi mangas/animes.
Kusanagi dresses lightly yes but i can stand it since a popsicle isnt shoved between her breasts constantly and some dude gets fluttered.
>>25635
you make me laugh

Thank you based anon. Google wasn't giving me anything.
Looking for a webm/gfy/gif, with eye, or general eye-region, with the eye blinking every 5-10 seconds. Not three-frame anim from wikipedia.
This is more than worksafe, it's work safety. I've been diagnosed with dry eye syndrome, and to make matters worse, I spend hours behind monitor. My blinkrate is like once per 10 minutes. Friend lent me his device, that is small LCD screen, like keychain LCD picture frame, around inch by two, that displays looped video of a man or woman blinking every now and then. You put it on the monitor, and by reflex you blink nearly every time the person does, without breaking concentration. It did wonders. I can't afford such a device, so I thought similar gif should do. Surprisingly hard to find! I tried record /me blinking, but can't loop and can't animate.
Oh, the one I've attached isn't any good, because it's too slow, it's not colour, and it's blinking constantly.
... bump?
just find a good blink, you can edit the delay very easily. here i just made the first frame last 7 seconds in a heartbeat.
