Is there any meaning to the different 'gotcha' catch animations when you capture pokemon?

Usually a few stars shoot out in straight lines on the top half of the ball, but I just now caught a Tentacool and all the stars went straight up in a wavy rotating pattern.

I thought maybe it was an IV indicator of better stats. Checked pokeassistant. 20% IVs.

You get a lot of Ice/Pseudo-Ice (Shelder/Seel), but it wasn't too bad.
But then, THEN, the fucking Swinub horde arrived. God fucking damn I'm so sick of these bastards.

As for Rhyhorn, I seem to see a good number of them, same with Geodude. It's not over the top but you get enough for a good small army of Rhydons/Golems.

Edinburgh is weird for Instinct, you get nothing for miles then just fucking strongholds of just level 8-10 gyms.
Where I live is just surrounded by Instinct, it's bliss, but to find more secure gyms you need to go down Leith, or just look around in obscure areas.

Valor is probably the best for secure gyms from what I've seen, there are more Mystic but they don't have that many secure areas and Mystic gyms are always switching.

Maybe it's because I'm new here, but I don't see the value in risking a ban to have multiples of a pokemon when you can only put one at a time in a gym that I can beat with mediocre pokemon and a sufficient supply of potions and revives.

And if you need an algorithm, third party calculator or seperate app to determine some arbotrary stats that you have no ability to show, train, or effect in any way in the base game - what is the point? Your 2500 perfect IV Blissey still loses to my 3100CP 63% Gyarados.

Not shilling, not trolling. I just don't get it. You need to spoof your GPS location and risk getting banned to use outside calculations to determine an arbitrary percentage you can't effect or display on a pokemon you wouldn't likely use for a gym battle, let alone defending a gym, that you can't battle others with, can't trade, can't breed, and can't actually prove it's "perfection" without a mod or app or algorithm not created, supported, endorsed, or desired by Niantic - why? Why go through the mind numbing tediousness and guesswork?

I sit in my car with my wife and drive down a deserted road late at night while we catch mons and spin stops. This water festival alone got me enough Magikarp to have 3 very strong Gyarados and I have 11 pokemon above 2000cp, all earned the long and hard way. With a bag of 40 revive, 62 max potion, and enough time to do it, maxed out level 10 gyms can't hold out for longer than 15-20 minutes.

With the water festival in full swing, Lapras candies are more accessible than ever. Despite her nerfed CP, I think she's still a formidable defender especially with the legacy moveset Ice Shard / Ice Beam.

I personally like Chikorita more. Being tanky as it is, pure grass and having such a great moveset (minus EQ) it's pretty good to prestige against some Pokemon.

My Sightings list vanishes constantly. Sometimes the Pokestop images on the Sightings list don't load either so I can't tell where the Pokemon is actually at unless I tap on it and get a map to it...which is also laggy.

Game crashes after about 20 minutes of play, or if I scroll through my Pokemon or swipe through a gym more than once.

I'm very excited to see all the amazing city spawns and heracross and corsola but i have a feeling that niantic will roll out a spawn event for the easter holiday and it will effect the spawns in florida. I have over 200 Karps and all have shit IVs.

Shiny Gyarados shows blue on top of gyms. When on top of a gym it shows as a blue gyarados until you click the gym it shows red for a split second. Shows properly once inside.

Water Pokemon are cool and all I guess, but they're pretty common where I live. Most of the ones with increased spawn rates aren't even useful and replace the spawns of other mons that are more viable and rarer. I have a small river running through my village and there's always a cluster of semi- useful grass/water/rock types and the occasional Dratini, but now there are only Chinchou and Marill.

Same. I'm not a fan of the event since I live in a water biome. I went out today and whereas 60-70% of the spawns would be water pokemon, today it was like 95%... I was constantly encountering Psyducks, Krabbys, Remoraids, Poliwags, Slowpokes, etc. and I really have no interest in them since I've been able to always catch a ton of them without the event.

On the other hand, all the other type of pokemon that I do care about have been severely nerfed, so I'm just counting the days for the event to be over so I can get a better chance at catching something that is not a water pokemon. I'm hoping Niantic will give everybody the desert biome for Earth Day or something... I feel like us living in water biomes didn't get much out of this event.
