Also catch chance isn't strictly a function of trainer level, only species base catch chance and pokemon level (the upper limit of which is dictated by trainer level but still, a level 1 pokemon will be just as easy for a level 1 trainer to catch as a level 40 trainer all other things being equal).

I've found three dratinis since early July and those were all in the same day.

These two are the best combos. Water biomes are everywhere, and they all spawn krabby/poliwag/horsea (together with slowpoke/psyduck/dratini/magikarp).
Leave diglett alone. Go to a port, they always have cluster spawns of electric (voltorb/magnemite). If you are lvl1 you will have all the pieces in 30mins. If you are 25+ good fucking luck. Dont catch other species to maximize your 10CP catchrate.

But personally I never used bubblestrat. My device is shit and I think it is too slow to allow me to kill the defender before it one hit kill me with bubble (Also I got the red error message in 90% of the gym battle attempts, I feel like it get worse with every update). I did it with a much stronger magikarp before but still would take some damage, I just was faster than the charge attack. Usually I just use a series of pokemons to counter the normal defender with the lowest CP possible as long as it isn't lapras or snorlax.

I live in a Mystic dominated town. Spoofing shitheads everywhere because it's also a college town.

And yet I have no problems finding lv 10 Instinct gyms to occupy. You just need to explore your whole town.

The only things that matter in my opinion are that if you want your team to have a presence in your town:
- Get a high CP lineup that can occupy allied gyms without worrying about getting kicked out in 2 minutes, and
- Get a real battling team that can actually boost prestige in a reasonable amount of time.

I've been working on Flareon #4 today (pumped in about 30k Star Dust today already) and he's about 85k Star Dust away from getting maxed out. There are still two more high level Instinct gyms I can occupy but I don't have enough high CP Pokemon to insert. After that, I'm buffing Flareon #5 and then either one of the 90%+ IV Grass Pokemon I'm hoping will turn out to have Solar Beam or the Dragon Breath + Blizzard Seadra I've been wanting to meme the Dragonite stacks with.

Also the battling lineup is necessary for the weekends where roving bands of Mystic players decide to take down a lv 10 Instinct gym and replace it with a lv 5-7 Mystic one. If you're not in the dominant team, you need to take initiative and be ready to take it down yourself. Sometimes you run out of potions and revives, sometimes you have too many, but to poorly paraphrase TF2 Sniper, always have a plan to kill every enemy gym you meet.

You have to carry your team, show Mysticfags that their lv 10 gyms aren't safe, and show your teammates that you are out there somewhere fighting the fight so that they can still feel like fighting for gyms still means something.

I've been playing for months, I have a shitton of various Pokemon with various moveset combinations. It takes time to build up a good army of Pokemon to do this shit with but at the end, it's worth it. Just bought my first 25-pack of Lucky Eggs.

Personally, I never run out of potions. I am swimming in them, to my annoyance because I want balls. I throw them out regularly in batches of 25 or 50 at a time.

I run out of revives faster than potions but I get like 50 revives in like 30 minutes of pokestop spinning so supplies don't really hurt me. I guess it would matter for people with access to less stops or just bad luck.

BACKGROUND:
During gym battles, when you dodges an opponent's attack (charge attack for best 'bug' results), you sometimes initially got hit fully by the attack then rolledback to a dodged damage after a few seconds.
Scenario: Exeggutor offense (100%hp) vs Vaporeon defense (100%hp):
1. Vaporeon(100% hp) used Hydro Pump
2. Exeggutor(100%hp) dodged
3. Exeggutor(50%hp) -> As if the dodge failed
4. Exeggutor(90%hp) -> Server realizes that the Hydro Pump was dodged, correct the HP

BUG:
Given the scenario above, when Exeggutor dodges but initially got full damage from Hydro Pump and it dies, the game will switch to the next pokemon. When the server realizes that the attack was dodged, it will return the first pokemon to the battle but it still shows the dying animation

Scenario: Exeggutor offense (100%hp) vs Vaporeon defense (100%hp):
1. Exeggutor and Vaporeon hits each other with fast moves
2. Exeggutor(40%hp), Vaporeon(20%hp)
3. Vaporeon(20%hp) used Hydro Pump
4. Exeggutor(40%hp) dodged [damage should only be ~10%hp]
5. Exeggutor dies
6. Next pokemon automatically selected (Snorlax 100%hp)
7. _Server realizes that the Hydro Pump was dodged, tries to bring back Exeggutor (with correct hp?)_
8. Snorlax recalled, Exeggutor (should have ~30%hp) on the battle now

It's okay, I don't have a 90%+ Bulbasaur either. I have 3 90%+ Charmanders I'll never have candies for, and my single 90%+ Squirtle became an Ice Beam Blastoise so they're all collecting dust.
