The next big update is set for mid-late December but it may be delayed.

The first thing that will happen when you boot up the game after updating will be that Willow will give you a 10km pre-incubated Egg (regardless of whether your Egg Inventory is full)

We will be rolling out the PokéStop Locations for everywhere.

There will be additonal awards in milestones for walking with buddy Pokémon, including 250 Stardust with every Candy, and hard to obtain items at milestone distances.

The Egg I mentioned earlier. When you hatch it, you will recieve Togepi, the first of the new Pokémon. Once the egg is hatched it will enable the Friendship function. This is the only way to get Togepi at this time, so the Transfer function will be disabled for it.

Walking with specific Pokémon as your Buddy Pokémon will show a "Friendship Bar" below the distance bar. Filling it by walking certain distances for specific Pokémon will enable an Evolution button which will be lit up if you have the right amount of candies listed. We tested the waters for this kind of trigger with Pikachu climbing on your shoulder after 10km.

The following Pokémon can evolve with the Friendship Bar, so far they all evolve after 10km:

>Eevee (Umbreon/Espeon. Umbreon from 7pm to 6:59am and Espeon from 7am to 6:59pm.)
>Chansey (Blissey)
>Togepi (Togetic)

As it stands right now the guys on top stay up there thanks to free stardust and coins. If knocked down they simply boost and retake. It's entirely in favor of the gym sitters (many of which are also spoofers so they can keep sitting and popping in as soon as it's taken).

I wish coins and dust would stop coming in if someone sits the same gym too often for too long (provided there are other gyms in their area: Rural players get mercy). That would help prevent the same guys from holding/retaking the same gyms forever.

Also gym snipers are BS. Period.

New pokemon won't balance out the fact that the gym sitters mons are at 3k+ while the non-sitters are at 1k-2k depending on luck. Add in the fact that the new update that makes boosting gyms easier has these 3k mons at 7+ deep all over so they're extra hard to knock down.

New mons will bring people back, granted, but as soon as they see they can't break past that deep wall of giant mons held by sitters who spoof to retake gyms they're just going to get frustrated and quit.

Returning players WILL be under-leveled because they weren't playing. As it is the average gym out here (small town) is held by level 25-30s who, again, are mostly gym sitters. They will be higher up still from all the free boosts by the time new mons come out. A returning player will take months to level up even close to competitive and that's if they don't get frustrated and leave first after weeks of failure.

Outside of catching/evolving mons gyms are all we have. It's a huge chunk of gameplay that won't be accessible and already isn't accessible to many players.

Whales are the mobile gaming term for people with money. They are the ones who spend the most on "free" games, the big targets for the companies. Making them happy is typically higher priority than game balance in crappy mobile games.

A whale can buy lucky eggs and run them constantly, even while just moving around hitting Pokestops. They can always have a full box of incubators. They can use lures all the time while popping incense. They can buy pokeballs when they are out again and upgrade their lots to max without breaking a sweat.

In short the game is broken for them and very easy so they level faster than everyone else and have more stardust and more hatches than everyone else for bigger, better mons.

Bigger mons that sit in the gyms and collect more stardust and coins for the already wealthy whale.

Add in the lack of spoofing protections and it goes from problem to game-breaker.

You are checking if the client is malicious / adversarial.

Any code you put on the client is compromised and the only thing you can trust is your own code on your server. You can't just believe everything the client says.

PoGo is fundamentally broken because
(a) GPS' mechanics dictates that GPS spoofing will never be stopped
(b) PoGo depends on the client reporting GPS data.

They could do shit like banning rooted phones, etc. but they can never ever stop GPS spoofing short of reinventing a new GPS-like system, launching a few satellites into orbit, then requiring PoGo users to use their own proprietary hardware with their own proprietary software. And even then, some asshole is going to figure out how to spoof anyway.

Ehhh. Not really. Gym dominance is dictated by whoever is in the most popular team. At lvl 25-27, a Pokemon is already about 80% as powerful as a lvl 40 so having more stardust doesn't really make a big difference by then.

Actually, at the rate he levels up he could get lvl 30 in 2 days. That guy has made 600k+ runs in a single day and lvl 30 is 710k exp. Just stop being retarded and realize people can make ridiculous amounts of exp in very short times now that they know what they're doing. lvl 30 in a month wasn't even that special, a lot of people accomplished that fairly easily.

But let's be very generous here. Let's say someone started 1 month late in August 6th. If that person had simply made 8k exp per day which is really easy to do, he'd have hit lvl 25 by early September.

So you see, nobody needed to spend money or spoof to get that far. Stardust is only for top gym placements but people in the mid to low 20s can very easily compete in gyms and beat lvl 30-35 pokemon with their 25s due to how small CP scales after 30(we're talking 1% increase for 2 upgrades)

Secondly, finding a cluster of stops isn't easy outside of big cities. Where I live there's maybe two spots where only two stops overlap. Period. It's that way for the entire area within a 3 hour drive.

Lastly, lures cost money. Let's say you find a 4 cluster because you live in a city. You need 32 lures a day to keep it up.

Instead of just going after an RK9 with a much lower cp water mon that I named to be at the top of my mons sorted A-Z, i have to swap out 6 Pokemon it auto selects each battle just to prestige farm.

Hey I'm level 24 and I feel like I'm not really helping when I put my Pokemon in gyms. I don't have any over 2000 and my highest is a 1926 exeggutor but I only use it for attacking as its my only grass type. I have a few 1600s Arcanines in the gyms and a 1580 Vaporeon that I put in gyms but thats only good for 5 gyms so after that I have to put in mons that are sub 1500. I'm good at taking gyms but then I feel like I have nothing worthwhile to put back into the gyms. Gyms around here normally stay for a few hours before changing hands with a few gyms that are always controlled by one team and don't fall.

First, you should always wait until you have 124 candies before starting evolution process, as you may very well find/hatch a better one

Second, both oddish hatches I evolved were about 950 cp glooms, so the cp/level difference is negligent, however not the candies.

Just walk your gloom till you have 100 candies and best of luck

Start by transferring anything that has bad moveset and not-top CP. Moveset is everything in this game. Low CP good moveset is still good for prestige gain. Bad moveset Pokemon are literally useless unless they have >2k cp and can scare off people from fighting the gym.
