Progress report. Trained a bit on lower Route 20 and caught a Horsea off the small lip curb in the south part of the city just enough north that you aren't in the complex.

Dunno if that's excessive rules lawyering or not, but the game apparently thought so since once I was in the worksite proper, an area crawling with growlithe and other actually decent mons, my first encounter was a fucking voltorb that I couldn't even catch due to a crit.

I'm stopping for now, taking on Roxie's gym next time, hopefully won't get destroyed by her like I did against Cheren on my first attempted run.

alright, did some more grinding etc and i am liking my team quite a lot, feeling p comfortable going into sprout tower later today when i have time. hunky learned crabhammer which is a hilarious move to have at this stage of the game, probably one shots p much anything that doesn't resist it. dirt's kinda falling behind but i'll feed it some birds and whatnot in sprout tower and once it reaches level 15 it gets magnitude and basically becomes unstoppable. aladdin's taking a while to get a decent stab move so it's tough to grind it up, luckily dray threw an exp share at me.

Luckily Route 4 is available before Burgh in B/W2 and Sewers and Passage are separate locations, thanks to this I was able to get my team from 3 to 6 and for now it's rather balanced when it comes to types.

I caught first pokemon I found in the sewers after the rival GTFO'd and I could single battle again, hope it wasn't much of a stretch. If /vp/ shitstorms I'll just box Skorupi.

It's Meme Sapphire with a couple personal modifications.
Changed the overworld sprites for May (171/173/175/176/314/316) to Female Magma Grunt (200) and Brendan (172/174/177/178/315/317) to Male Aqua Grunt (204)
Also looked in the .bin file where Birch asks if you're a boy or a girl and changed the .pngs to the Grunt .pngs
Since the Grunts don't have running or tiptoeing animations, whenever I do either they just freeze up in a civilian pose and glide around, and May still throws the Pokeball at the beginning of a battle since Magma Grunt doesn't have that kind of 3D animation.

And I've probably fucked something up when editing everything, since this is my first time doing it. Probably did something stupid like accidentally changed the bike texture to the Aqua Grunt's model.


Anyways, no deaths as of yet, heading on through Petalburg Woods. Hopefully I get another Fire type soon, both to be more Magma-ish and to resist Bug moves better. I'm terrified of Bug Bites on half my team

I'm absolutely fucking pissed. Just, absolutely pissed. I don't care if it's cheating, I'm saying that team wipe didn't count. I have exactly 0 Pokémon under level 30 on my team. I'm fighting a level 30 Goldeen that a trainer has. 5 Horn Drills land in a row. No misses. On higher leveled mons. That's not even RNG fuckery, that's just not how the move even works.

Can I justify my actions? Horn Drill isn't even supposed to be able to hit my Pokémon.

That actually is possible. Move accuracy doesn't go into the negatives, so despite your higher level, that means the base accuracy was 0% + 30%.

Horn Drill always has a 30% chance to hit regardless of level, that is the absolute lowest it can be, with it going higher due to levels. You were just incredibly unlucky.

That depends on what you feel is right. If you lost someone on the 3rd gym and need to get that level 9 to level 35, I wouldn't feel bad at all. If you need to grind up everyone just 1 more level, fine, do what you want, it's your game, just make sure you're having fun, that's the biggest thing. If you're trying to be 5 levels above the gym leader's strongest so you don't get any loses, that's very, very frowned upon because it kills the sport of the game.

I used to frown upon people fast-forwarding through training. My logic was that you effectively spend less time with your Pokémon, so you don't grow as attached to them.

I know one case means nothing, but I lost three Pokémon the other day, including my starter, and I didn't give a shit. All of that, through 27 hours of real life playing, beating Koga at Fuschia Gym (Fire Red Omega).

I beat Elesa! I lost Krookodile to the subway bosses right before the gym so I was kinda worried. Fortunately I only lost the two pokemon I didn't train at all.
My entire team is weak to ground except for Purugly so I'm hoping I get a wingull/ducklett on the bridge and then a good ice- or grass- type on the routes next to Driftveil.

Just made it through Eterna forest. I hate forced tag teams in Nuzlockes because I'm afraid they'll kill something good. I got a (level 10) Wurmple though, which isn't bad. It won't know the relatively good move it would learn at 10 upon evolving, but it would still be good for the next gym. I already have a Staravia too, so it should be fairly easy.

Tip: You can cheat really hard core in there because Chansey does a lot of damage for you and takes none of the XP, meaning you get 2x the XP in the same amount of time. IMO, using this with one pokemon is more than enough.

generally people use the gym leader's ace's level as a benchmark/clause, although it's fine to be a level or two above it. some people have the tendency to grind up to a point where losing a mon is hardly even a possibility anymore though, which is just stupid since it defeats the whole excitement of a locke. as long as you keep the grinding reasonable, people will be fine with it (and you'll have more fun playing the game too, assuming you're not one of those rare people who genuinely enjoys grinding and grinding and grinding)

I've always counted it where you received it from personally as opposed to where it hatches, because you could get caught up in things and it happens to hatch anywhere. You could also abuse it if it was where it hatched due to the daycare and where you could actually go, you could fly to towns and just hatch new Pokemon or to certain places where there is no grass/pokemon and so on.

I count it where its received, though I don't count story required things, such as Gen 2/4 Togepi. But say Gen 2/4 Slugma in that town counts as that town's catch.

I didn't even remember that I had to fight Barry, but I thought I was in for an easy fight. Levels 38-40, his ace Infernape is a 38?

I swept his team without too much damage. A few in orange due to some swap outs for type advantage.

Then Heracross hits like a brick. Porygon was an Ice type due to Conversion v Roserade, but I didn't think it would even matter that much. Porygon2 is on the high end of decently quick. I hit Recover and got out sped by Brick Break. Down it went.

I was mad, sent in Cacturn to drop Leech Seed and swap out. Brick Break drops him too, with my level advantage I thought she'd survive the one hit, but she didn't.

Now I'm mad, I send in Claydol for Psybeam or Hyperbeam if necessary. Brick Break wouldn't wor well on him. Guess what? Barry's Heracross knows Night Slash.

I sent out Feraligatr for neutral damage just to end the battle. My team has been broken.

Twitch (Porygon2) was the best bro I ever had, it was the best sweeper, best defender. Twitch singlehandedly broke the aces of Gardenia through Crasher Wake.

Tipsy the Baltoy carried its weight. Tipsy the Claydol fucking destroyed.

Pokey the Cacnea didn't do shit. I nearly dropped him. Once he learned Faint Attack, he was dropping opponents left and right, and then he evolved and became the 2nd best mon on my team.

With no other Grass types in my box, Thesaurus the Feraligatr will have to be retired so Cinnamon can be taken in. Snuffles will be his replacement.

I was all set to take on the gym and get my 6th badge with that team. Everyone on that team was from before the third gym, the rest from before the second.

It's time to get training.

Quick update. Made some movies, dealt with Team Plasma yadda yadda. Their new theme is pretty alright but I don't know what's up with their new look.

Went to Castellia. While clearing out the battle company Lissa evolved twice and is now an offensive powerhouse for the time being. Turned down the starter gift, never liked the idea of using more than one starter since the first time it happened to me in XY.

Going to see what I can get from the surrounding areas before taking on the Gym here (if there even still is one, I'm assuming if the first two weren't on the mainland some of the gyms wont be around anymore). I'l need the exp from trainers anyway.

Well that was quick. I lost. That Amaura swept my team. It had charge beam and it was faster than my froakie and rest of my team.

I think I should just change the difficulty, maybe I shouldn't have the levels match Gym leader's. I should also make it a level or two higher I think.

Artemisia is a fucking goddess and landed every hit against Brock despite being confused for 5+ turns. Completely made up for Arioch accidentally not having a water move. Sort of a pile of garbage because of that, but hey, I won. Lets see if I can get to Cerulean City without fucking up horrendously.
