This. I don't give a fuck if Ash loses as long as he gets a good showing and a bit of progress. He was able to progress to the finals, that's good, but they completely botched the Greninja/Charizard fight and made the entire mini arc about Greninja into a joke.

For all we know it could've been a crit, though I think it's simply that Zard was just that more powerful than Greninja.

Though it would've made more sense if Ash won because that's what the narrative was pointing at. Losing all 3 matches against Alain instead of winning the most important one and even going into special training to get a unique power only to lose at the finals make it feel like they just pussied out of Ash's victory.

While I am fascinated by series that take a licensed property in a different direction than it's source material, outright bashing the source material through it should be illegal.

I don't disagree, the whole point of the last few episodes has been how close Ash and Alan are though. In-universe an outcome in both direction should have made sense, with Alan probably being slightly stronger.


If you view XY as a whole and without the rest of the seasons, it is kind of stupid that Ash lost because the entire season was building up to him winning.

If you view the series as a whole, it's ridiculous that he lost to the champion again after having lost to the eventual champion twice now. And honestly he should have won as an apology for how fucking bad BW was. XY was the time to win because the series was well received and Alola would still have made sense from the perspective of a champion.

From a marketing perspective it doesn't even make sense, they should have let Ash win just to squeeze out sales from genwunners one last time before they truly become too old for video games.

I do agree that the loss with Alain is worse because Ash was expected to win after the plot seemed to lead to that, but that's more of a meta analysis of why it's worse.

As a fight itself, it's never going to be worse than Tobias' bullshit who appeared out of nowhere with 2 legendaries (out of a team of 6 which may as well have had fucking Arceus in it) just to stomp Ash.

That's why Alan won the legue, because it's not important.

So Ash is in the league. It's his year. He's got a killer team and all his mons are ready to do this. Unfortunately, there's a new guy in the league. Some edgy guy with a really really powerful pokemon.

His pokemon is so powerful that it took out absolutely every gym by itself without breaking a sweat.

In all the league matches up until the one with Ash, he only used that one pokemon because it was so absurdly strong nobody else could even out it.

That absurdly strong pokemon can tangle with legendaries, is ridiculously durable (Beyond the point of reason) and dishes out absolutely retarded damage, capable of killing Ash's strongest mons in 1-2 hits.

It's not Ash's fault. That Pokemon was so strong that there's no way he could have possibly defeated it. It's just that it's on a completely different league to his mons. He loses. Not because of his own lack of ability, no, but because of this one ridiculously strong pokemon that nothing on his team could ever hope to stop.

I am upset that Ash lost in the finals still, but after seeing how quickly the ceremony was brushed off, I understood why they chose that. They need to make the TF arc worth our time plot wise to explain to the viewers why they made the choice. I've no doubt the battles will be baller as fuck, but if there's no Ash/Alain rematch during or after the match, I'll actually get angry. I think the fight could've realistically gone either way, only that it made more sense for Ash to win because of the plot so that's why I'm also salty. But Tobias instead was like a fucking concrete wall, a completely bullshit character made to destroy Ash. You can't really compare the two.

His Strongest Pokemon are Ash-Greninja and Pikachu. Pikachu's efforts got completely nullified, and AG got savaged. What would putting his Charizard there have done? We could have gotten 20 seconds of it being BTFO like Megazard Y. Mega Charizard X beat 10 Megas in a row, and tangled with Primal Groudon and Mega Fug.

Greninja might have savaged the Champion's ace, but apparently Diantha's been slacking since Megazard absolutely demolished that frog.

I honestly believe that with how bullshitly powerful Mega Charizard X was shown to be, that he could have swept Ash's "best" team of Pikachu, Greninja, Sceptile, Charizard, Infernape and Snorlax. It's just like Darkrai, this unbeatable massive wall used to take Ash's victory away. The only fucking difference is that Darkrai managed to eventually die and was shown taking some damage, in comparison to Mega Charizard who just no-selled everything, including drainbamage.combo and Ultra Water Shuriken.

This league felt more like a set-up for Team Flare rather then its own thing. It was mostly about building up to the arc and final showdown, and while I do understand that endeavor (and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it), it is disappointing that the league had to suffer for it. If I were to rate this league right now, I'd place it only above Kanto and Unova's, the rest were better due to either having stronger development of their rivals, more memorable battles (along with more battles in general), and having more focus placed on it and thus Ash and his team. Kalos' focus was somewhere else and it did show, and that is what left it as a poorly handled league overall.

I'm 32 years old, I play pokemon ever since the first games came out.

I really hated how ash had to dispose of his pokemon to try new ones everytime a new gen started. and then losing every league. From the good days to the lack of quality into a good production and then just plain disappointment.

I also stopped enjoying the games, to me, the last good gen was IV.

And now pokemon go and normies.
