You want to know the best part? It's not just the anime that cycles every generation, it's the people who still watch this that cycle as well. Everyone is salty right now that he lost another league but soon, they'll forget about it, get distracted by the 7th gen anime and go "Oh this is anime is really good! This person's my waifu, I like this pokemon, wow, the battles look amazing! Man, things are really looking up for this show!"

The truth that some people fail to keep in their minds is that the show was never good. It was never intended to be above any level than just selling shit. Changing things takes effort and really, why put more effort than than the bare minimum into a 30 minute long commercial?

I just put on episodes to play in the background to satisfy my need for visual stimulus when I'm grinding effortlessly, its nice to look up and catch a pokemon fight scene

however, acting as though there is substance where there isn't, is just weird, in a sad way, like wanting a Mimikkyu to be a real Pikachu so bad that you begin to actually believe its a real Pikachu and tell all your friends about how awesome your Pikachu, that its in the top percentile of Pikachu when in actuality, its just a mimic.

If they want to see some real change, the best thing to do is to stop watching. The writers feel like they don't have to change anything because the show still gets viewers. If you want to see more of what Origins and the Mega Evolution specials had, all you have to do is not watch the regular anime.

Not really/ There was a very real sense of progression from the early anime all the way to DP. BW was a shitfest, but things seemed to get back on track with XY, so much so that many people were convinced this was it, whether they watched the anime or not. This was further enforced by several other points:
>Shipping actually finally played a (admittedly minor) role in the series, with the female companion even given a backstory with Ash's childhood
>20th anniversary of Pokemon
>Pokemon exploding into mainstream popularity again due to a combination of several factors
>The apparent not inclusion of an actual league in the next region

The fact that everything lined up for a win this time and we still got nothing is the definite confirmation that we'll never the the resolution we want. I don't think people will get hyped up for a league after this, even if Ash does eventually win, he lost when it mattered the most. Anything after this will just be a consolation prize.

So is Greninja going the way of Blaziken? i.e. forced single gen "mascot" that got btfo and will be forgotten.

Maybe now He'll be cut from Smash and Robinhoot will be the forced mascot
